“Put your money where your mouth is.”

put up

A lot of times when we need to build our careers, it takes financing. Financing that the average person does not have in their pockets. So what do you do when you need the money to get started. For me, I have an interest in filmmaking, writing, and photography. So my initial investment in writing is cheaper than filmmaking and photography. Filmmaking and photography are both expensive, so you have to start with small investments. Or, you could try saving up over a long period of time. Then again, there is the reaching out to family and friends, or trying to crowd fund, or trying to get grant money, or a loan, or contest. So as you can see, you have to look under every rock for resources.

how to start

Everyone needs to have a start in life. For me I started writing at the age of 23 years old. I am now 7 years into the writing experience of the novel and screenwriting process. I started filmmaking at the age of 26 and photography in the past 1 year. I started writing with Microsoft word on the school’s computers and eventually bought myself a laptop. But raised funding for my short film through Indiegogo website. I also just so happen had a refund from grad school and bought a starter camera. Since then I bought a prime lens. And now I am taking more and more photos while also writing my first book and self-publishing it.

next step

From the previous passage, you have to now take it a step further by growing your audience in whatever it is you’re doing. For me, I have my social media platforms that I have invested a lot of time and energy. And yet, it is still a work in progress. This is a growth stage that seems to be going nowhere, because in the paradigm there is no movement. You are up and then back down. But over time you start to see the results. Results that typically take years to accomplish.

living life is more important

The reason so many can’t save money is not because of bills. But it’s actually because they want to live their lives. People want new clothes, a car note, and date. And who can blame them, but you now have to be willing to sacrifice your dreams. Because in the building stages, there is no room for both. You have to put these types of things on hold for something much greater.
