“Narrowing down the topics.”

what’s to come

The end of 2018 is just a week away. And I will be planning my blog for next year 2019. And for the coming year, I will be narrowing down the blog to 6 topics not 12 spanning the year. And these 6 topics will be of the most popular from my current year. So instead of writing a post from 1 topic for the month, I will be writing posts for 1 topic every two months. And this is the change, the metamorphosis of my blog that will eventually narrow down to fewer topics. As of now, there are two topics in competition with each other to see which one will make the cut. I will also provide more video content as well. Feel free to drop a comment about the topics you liked. Continue to like, follow, and share my work. SEE YOU  IN 2019!!!

ME TOO. TIMES UP: HOW WILL THE MOVEMENT PAN OUT OVER TIME

art, awareness, campaign

“Stand up, speak out.”

me too/times up

Over the past year, there has been a downfall of Hollywood’s elite men. There have been a wave of women coming out over the past indiscretions of studio executives and actors. Women who have been victims of sexual harassment and assault.  And with the downfalls came the movements we now know as Me Too and Times Up.

So with that said, how long will these two movements continue? And will they both take a turn for the better or for the worse? Because with what happened to comedian Aziz Ansari, the movement could have been in jeopardy.

upsides

Now, will you stop all of sexual harassment in society; the answer is no. That is a physical impossibility. But a lot of the movement’s cause has to do with harassment in the workplace. And that is the decline of harassment so women can work in a safe space without having to deal with constant advances. And for that, there have been progress.

Sexual Assualt stats by the EEOC

It’s not a fool proof movement, you’re going to always problems. But the goal is to deter the situation. And from the looks of things, we are seeing progress. But, is there another side to all this push back.

downsides

As with the positives of the movement, there are the downsides. And one of them we have already seen. That is when comedian Aziz Ansari was accused of sexual assault, and what it amounted to was a bad date. And this is what the movements have to speak out against. If not, you’re going to start to notice women coming forward for anything just to get their names out there.

And with it goes the movement that was meant to protect women. When we live in a society without due process, you start to get into trouble with false claims. But the moment you say due process, you’re automatically calling the victim a liar. When in reality, you might be saving yourself in the event that the perp is not the real per at all.

HOW TO MAKE SLAVES OUT OF MEN: WHY PEOPLE ARE EASILY BRAINWASHED

Image result for BRAINWASHED

“How to galvanize for terror.”

When observing the human species, we have galvanized throughout history for a wide range of reasons. Whether it be to protest rights for groups of people who have been marginalized, or galvanizing to push back against a war that is claiming the lives of many. But what I have attempted to study over time is the ability that man has to galvanize groups for killing. And I don’t mean any type of killing, but bringing a group together for genocide. How does a man such as Idi Amin who was responsible for the Ugandan genocide or Adolf Hitler who ordered the murders of millions of Jews during the Holocaust galvanize for death? And that is something that requires you to go into the mind a little deeper. And it means looking at a few psychological indicators: social programming, infliction of pain, and appealing to the emotionally distressed.

In an effort to understand how people can round u into a frenzy to kill mass amounts of people, you have to look at the first part of the passage above: social programming. Well, how do you socially program people to look another human and convince that group of people to commit mass genocide on another group of people? Let’s first look at a few examples as to how you can control people via social programming. Look at slavery in America and the ability to convince humans another human is 75% human. As much as

Image result for slave auction

we like to think we as humans are thinkers, we have an Achilles heel when thinking and that is that we seek answers to information, especially perceived complex problems from people we deem are scholarly. So if a group of ten people are sitting down together and one is perceived to have more knowledge than the rest based on how he or she is stating their points, we will believe them to be right even if we are right in our own regard.

Why, well because the perceived knowledgeable person’s vocabulary might be more vast. So the scholarly people respected in Europe during the time of slavery all had ideologies about Africans. And since these scholars were well traveled and few people outside the scholarly community left Europe, you as a European citizen take what they say at face value. So, stating these Africans are savages, we all believe. Only savages can be used against each other for conquering. Which means they must be some subhuman mammal. People will follow their word, especially at that time when information to the public was limited. And on top of that the European civilization was deemed civilized, and anything else was less functional. Now that’s the social programming. What about how people are able to inflict pain?

During the Holocaust there was a multitude of people used as guinea pigs in the conduction of human experimentation, walking children to gas chambers, and setting fire to dead bodies after being killed. You might ask, what human is capable of enforcing such horror on another human being that you previously saw walking the street. Well, I go back to the experiment made famous by a psychologist by the name, Stanley Milgram. He conducted an experiment which showed how an experimenter could get the tester to administer a shock to the learner. At first the teacher is reluctant,Image result for holocaustthen eventually, the teacher is shocking the learner without order. An experiment which showed how a human given orders could harm another person. Now in genocide, there is twist, and that is that if the teacher does not administer the shock, the teacher could be killed. And self-preservation results in being able to take another human life.

But what about the ability to appeal to the emotionally distressed? Because when you take away a group’s ability to existence, and you are able to have a common enemy that is shown to the people, then you can also get humans to react. Such as how the Nazis were able to speak to the ethos of the financially stressed and hurt Germany. Or how the Rwandan Hutu leaders were able to make the people feel they needed to seek revenge on the Tutsi. Here is a basic example on a much lower level. When someone loses their job, and are down on their last. Someone gives you food and shelter. You are told you deserve more, and should have more. But you also have to comprise of a group of people who have held dominant power for so long. This is important because it’s why historically agendas have been easier to make White men turn on another group in America than Black. The ideology has long stood that this (America) is your (White men’s) country.

With that said, these are generally the individuals who turn to groups like skin heads or KKK. When you see groups that you used to have the upper hand over, now in positions of power, no matter how small that population may be you’re fighting against. Speaking to the hurt in someone, especially if that someone is of a group than has long been in charge. But in the end, a real biological reason you can turn humans so genocidal is that we are not far removed from apes. We share 99% strain with them, and are  1%  Image result for humans and apesdifferent. We think we’re special because we build infrastructure, but on a level of mammal, we still hold that animal inside. The smarter of the humans are still baboons, yet they are of the stronger baboon that realize there are dumber baboons who are led by emotion, not logic and reasoning.

ETHNIC RESPONSIBILITY: ARE YOU OBLIGATED TO YOUR ETHNIC GROUP IF YOU ARE SMART ENOUGH TO HELP

2 Person Holding Hands

“Is segregation better than diversity?”

Growing up in the United States, you don’t realize as a child how segregated the country is until you become an adult. Then you start to realize that people of an ethnic group prefer to conduct in business from within. And I have been to communities throughout the United States noticing that there are groups who would prefer to employ each other and not so much groups that don’t represent their common interest. Yet I have noticed growing up in a predominantly Black neighborhood that most Black people are racially ambiguous when spending our dollars. And coincidentally we are also the poorest group overall because of the spending outside. Dollars don’t quite circulate through the community like other communities. And to add to the lack of businesses owned by Black men and women, we also have issues concerning healthcare, education, employment, and political representation.

Now with all that has been said so far, what obligation do you have as a Black man and woman to the community if you have found an ability to put yourself in the know. Because Mexicans open businesses, hire each other; Chinese open businesses and hire each other; Jews open businesses and hire each other. To add to it, when they invest, the people they help tend to be Image result for black businessestheir own ethnic group. Then when Black people need the aid to start an endeavor, we never can get help. So for Black people who have found a way to gain wealth is there now this duty to do what society outside the realm of us won’t do. Because our numbers are staggering with regards to unemployment; and if it’s not anyone else’s problem, why not? So is there an obligation from the learned of the group to do more for those who actually want but can’t get the aid.

Here are some insights into what help might consists of: education being a major one. Predominantly Black neighborhoods, such as Chicago where schools are dying because they’re pulling Related imagefrom taxpayers who are poor. So our children fail because schools lack adequate funding from the system. Do we A) move back to these communities, increasing the tax dollars pumped into the schools, or B) open our own schools funded by Black men and women with money. Because we can’t let our children fail. Schools close and they have no place to go, society says not my problem, but on the bother hand Black people, don’t help each other. So major issues with education could be seen as an obligation.

Another major issue would have to be crime in the communities. What is the obligation to the community from Black men and women who are of intellectual capital? What role do the learned play in teaching the younger generation so that it stops somewhere? I brought up Chicago in regards to education, but the high levels of violent crime has surpassed in some areas of third Related imageworld countries. What responsibility is it from those that possess the intelligence to shift the perception of a young generation? Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was very pivotal in the move for so many young Black people during that time to want to get into social activism. So who are those that will take on the voice to steer so many young Black males from a life of crime? It won’t come from anywhere, it has to come from within.

So in the end, the shift to the community has to come from Black people ourselves. We are the only people that have to be willing to make the move because the ability to shift a perception about us is not coming from outside of us. But here is something interesting, it is not anyone else’s job to make us look good. It sounds quite segregationist, but the only people responsible for the shift in a group’s identity should be the group. So when you see films constantly made about the Holocaust, good. Jews are doing their job, they’re supposed to keep the history of what happened in Europe alive. Never look to another group as a means of justifying who you are because you’ll never get it.

MODERN DAY SLAVERY: WHY AREN’T GOVERNMENTS ADDRESSING THE BUYING AND SELLING OF AFRICANS IN LIBYA

Image result for LIBYA SLAVERY

“We all know, yet we all except it.”

Recently, there have been reports of the buying and selling of Africans into Libya as farm hands. Men and women being sold for as low as $400 and so far the only people that have really took a stand are citizens of the world. Governments have not taken the appropriate actions of getting involved and stopping such practices. Yes, there have been politicians who have come out and condemned the actions, but there has yet to be a government intervention. And what’s even more disturbing is the fact that they are African, we sort of turn a blind eye. Yet if any man, woman, or child were being transported from Europe, you would see a global outcry. So the outcry is very selective; they won’t say because it’s Africa, but the reaction would be different.

Now, you might ask how so; well, look at the Rwandan genocide. The United Nations only intervened when they thought the European tourists would be in danger. Once the tourists were out, then the people were left to fend for themselves. And now, you’re witnessing the same move today. It seems like the only other option is for the people to defend themselves the best way they know to do so. Because if they are being bought and sold as property, you’re talking about the complete removal of the identity of a human being. And that alone goes to show that maybe the Libyans are taking a chapter from the American playbook. Because the United States was considered the wealthiest nation on Earth after slavery ended. That’s what happens when you have forced labor over a few centuries. So maybe this is their way of building their America in poverty stricken Libya.

I mean, think about it, since Muammar Gaddafi was killed, the people thought their lives were going to be better off. Now they’re starting to realize the promise for this better life is not going to happen. So they have resorted to buying and trading of Black Africans into slavery. Other reports I have read stated that a lot of people have hostility toward Black Libyans because of the preferential treatment from Gaddafi. Gaddafi had a Pan-African unification view that would allow for African countries to back their currencies with resources on the continent. Now, anyone that seems to represent that old regime is now being bought, sold, raped, even killed. Now, what I want to know is, how deep is this really? How much are we seeing that really tells the true story of this slave trade? Because there is something that is a little odd about a government that says they are sickened, but won’t do anything.

And in the end, a large aspect of the government in Libya not getting involved is because of the fractured government themselves. The government has so many internal issues that militias are being formed for people’s protection. A move that never would have taken place under the former leader Gaddafi. This just adds to the countries America felt needed its former leader out, but got a lot worse once the leader was killed. It happened in Afghanistan and Iraq; once the leaders considered tyrannical were ousted, the nation became worse off economically and more violent. So moving forward, there will be no change to the current buying and selling of Black males until the government can come together and get a hold on rebel forces that were once against Gaddafi.

STOLEN AMBITION: WHAT IF THE WOMEN OF THE PAST COULD HAVE HAD THE OPTIONS OF TODAY

Related image

“What little they had made way for a lot today.”

My mother was born in the year 1960, making her the last of the baby boom generation. This was the first generation where men were coming home from the war and suburbs were being built up all across the country. Mass marketing and advertising was introduced and the influence of entertainment was taking hold. Why was so much going on during this time period? Well, it was because this was an era of mass population growth in the United States. Jobs were in abundance and the men who came home from World War 2 were settling in and with their wives building large families. But there was something else that was prevalent during this time period. And that is the fight which was taken to the streets by women all across the country along with the civil rights movements. Women were expected to act a certain way at times outside the realm of their choice.

It makes you think that what if these women were born in today’s society. How much would they have been able to accomplish had they had that push that women have today? My mother recently showed me a photo of her when she was a teenager running track and field. A sport that I took part in myself at a young age. Only difference between me and her is that, not only am I a man, but the encouragement I received was different than her generations. Girls were told to “shut up” and “keep quiet” when expressing their goals and ambitions. Ambition was for the boys, and staying at home was for the girls. It makes you think; how many of those house wives back decades ago often dreamed when being at home all day. What were their dreams when they would be cleaning floors or preparing meals for the family.

These were thoughts I never got a chance to ask my grandmother or great grandmother that I could ask my mother. I would have loved to ask my great grandmother, before you married my great grandfather what did you dream about in life. Because women today don’t have all these goals and women in the past didn’t have them. It’s just that women were not expected to do anything in life. I was an adult when my grandmother died, I wish I could have asked her what were her goals as well. Just so I could get some clarity into what life was like living with all of this bundled up inside. Asking them what it was like to not be able to do what you wanted to do.

See, in the end, so many young women say there is still a lot of work to accomplish for the women of today. But in the past, they had it much worse, even with the good times. I guess that’s why I push so heavy at my goals because my mother never got her chance to shine like she wanted at a young age. So many women at that time had so much potential to be great, but greatness was not an option. And for the ones who stood out front despite the lack of encouragement, it gave way to so many today.

RAPE CULTURE: THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL OF HOLLYWOOD

Image result for hollywood

“Who would have thought there is an actual culture behind it.”

In the recent news, we have been hearing about all the sexual assault allegations directed at the Hollywood elite. Ranging from actors to top executives, all who have been accused and admitted to sexual assaulting women and even children in some cases. Many thought the worst was over with all the women that came out over Bill Cosby. Then Harvey Weinstein victims came out, and from there on it has been a constant barrage of women sharing their stories of sexual assault and rape at the hands of powerful men in Hollywood. And the reason besides this being Hollywood, why it’s such a news story, is because of the way famous public figures try to police everyone else. These men and women spent the past year and a half attacking the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump for his comments. Now they’re silent on the allegations in their industry.

These are the same people who say there is a rape culture issue in America, but they are surrounded by a culture of rape. And it has gone on for decades in the film and television business, with very few people coming out against it. So if this is something that is this pervasive in the industry, how do you change the way business is conducted. Because at this point it’s part of the identity of an industry. And if this is something that is the identity, then how do you change it? You can’t change this overnight, it takes a long time. But the Golden Globes and the Oscars are two and half months away. Are the comedians that host these award shows going to address it or remain silent? Since everything else is addressed in the industry that is social or political. My best guess is that they won’t, which will further add to the already feeling of disconnect.

But then again, is this just a Hollywood identity? If you’re under the impression that this is only a one industry problem you are wrong. Women can tell you horror stories abut men in politics, corporate America, the medical field, and even education. Yet the men who are constantly getting caught are guys who come from an era where this was totally acceptable. A time when men were told, “Hey, look at how she’s dressed; it’s an invite.” And these men are so stuck in their mind-frame from that time on top of having so much influence, they don’t realize the change in time. They know you can get in trouble quicker, but yet still, the full concept is not grasped. In the end, who knew that the fighters against this rape culture was part of the biggest culture of rape. I don’t see the business changing anytime soon. But it has to start now because what has been done has changed the game forever.
