GIVING UP IS NOT A SOLUTION

“Keeping trekking along.”

WHEN IT HURTS MOST

Wanting to give up is something so many people pursuing their career feel like doing. But for some reason there is something that is holding you from doing this, and that is your drive. And it’s a good thing because quitting should be the absolute last resort. It should be the thing last on your list once you have tried everything and finally you have to give up. Especially if this is something you are good at and getting better. But the reality is most people do give in to the climb because it is so difficult.  It’s like the quote by Thomas Edison that, “many of life’s failures don’t realize how close they were to success when they finally gave up.” Such a strong and powerful quote that I live by in life.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM

Somewhere in your head is this feeling of dejection. We don’t know where it comes from, but it is always there lingering. And the reason we have this in our heads is to give us the ability to back away from danger. It has helped keep us alive on this planet for so long. But the reality behind succeeding in society is you have to take risk and be fearless. Even if you fear which most people do, you have to trick yourself into getting out of that mind-frame. We all have it, even the most motivating people have fears. They just do a good job at shifting their attention on to keep pushing. Now, that thing that has kept us alive, there are always the ones that are fearless that have pushed the world forward.

STRAP IN FOR THE LONG HAUL

Success in life is a long long road to where it is you want to truly be. You have to be patient and know that it will take a very long time. And when I say long time, we are talking 10 years, 15 years, even 20 years more most. So if you are only a few years in and feel like falling off, then you are in trouble because everything will be painful and take a long time.

NO PAY, LOW PAY

Coins Inside Jar

“Experience first, money second.”

THE EARLY DAYS

When you first start out in your career, you are going to have to realize the pay is low. And some work you might get is going to be for no pay. This is where so many young people give up and quit. I mean think about it, who want to get up each and everyday to go to a job that pays no money. But the reality is that you need the experience early in your 20’s in order to move forward. For example I worked for a retail and the start out managers earn a small income, but the volume of running the store was a major task. So the pay was low, but the ability to manage a large team helps push you over the top.

BE HUMBLE

So many young people have this in mind thing about them. I deserve more but I don’t know much. Well guess what, you have to pay your dues. You have to get in and gain experience in order to keep moving along. But most have a hard time moving forward because they have this mind-frame early on. I have worked for internships that didn’t pay, and others where pay was so low, it should have been for free. But what you have to be is grateful for the opportunity and learn as much as you can. These are not the years to make the most money. The time will come if you set yourself up for the challenge.

MIND FIELD

As you navigate your early career life, you will have these feelings of doubt and hurt. You want to have and do what everyone else is doing. Their life sometimes look greater than it is, and you start to feel depressed. And this is the mind game that you start to play with yourself as you grow your career. And a lot of times you don’t see things moving in the paradigm of building. It does not formulate until the work has been done. But when you reach the level you want, more work goes into it to hold on to it.

THEIR FEAR INSIDE OF YOU: HOW PARENTS PROJECT ONTO THEIR KIDS

Woman With Brown Baby Carrier And Little Kid In White Jacket

“I know what’s best for you.”

PLAY IT SAFE

Your parents love, and they want to protect you. But sometimes they overprotect you. They tend to look at your life and see something in it for them. They have built and put so much into you, they really want to know that the investment is worth it. But part of the problem is that you have to deal with them saying that you should play it safe. When it comes to pursuing a career, you are supposed to choose a job that is a little more of a guarantee. And this is something that will make your parents happy about the life you have chosen. But what happens once the kid decides to make a career decision that does not align with the parents decision?

NO  REAL OUTCOME

When you choose a career that is not a little more guaranteed like a doctor or lawyer, then your parents will be more appreciative of you. But then there are the jobs that we choose that are a lot more unguaranteed. Your kid wants to be an actor or musician. And here is where most parents will stand in the face of their child and push them in another direction. This is because we want them to be safe and other times parents project on to their children their own fears and insecurities. So, generally, the kid accepts the parent’s request and live their lives how they’re expected to live.

DREAM KILLERS

Parents build dreams, but also, parents kill the dreams of their children as well. And I am not only talking about kids being actors. What if your child want to be an archaeologist? A lot of parents would not support that because this is a profession that does not make much money. They are not concerned about what you love they are concerned about security. Supporting yourself is more important to them than your passion. So a lot of times you have to pursue yourself.

SOCIALLY INCLINED WITH FEAR

Person Sitting on Couch

“I wish I could just do it.”

GOT IT BUT DON’T GOT IT

In my life as an adult I have always been known as the person who really didn’t have much to say. But I have always been full of ideas that I have been able to put into play. And what’s crazy is that the same energy that one needs for the success in life is the energy they get from the social part of life. Yet there is something about the execution that makes people freeze. And that has always been something that has me stuck. I can put things into play, but the social part of me is what gets stuck. Only the social part of me in order to build relationships that are intimate. When I want something bad enough I am able to get out of my way socially.

THE MIND IS WEIRD

It’s odd how the brain will make itself do one thing but is afraid to do something else. I look at life and think to myself how hard it is to make friends or date. Then I look at myself building a photography portfolio, writing screenplays, and writing my books. Then think it is actually harder to do that stuff. But in my mind the work is far easier than being social. I don’t know, it’s something about social that makes life harder. It can’t be rejection because career is more difficult. The only thing I can think of is the idea that I have been working since childhood. So it is not something I think about. You just have to approach the opposite of what you want the same as your social, or social like success.

WHICH IS WORSE

In your mind you try to think about what would be worse. Trying to make a success of yourself and be social, or someone not too social who is success. And there are people who fall under both equations. And those people are very lucky to be who they are because a lot of people wish they had both.

NO CAREER GOALS

Pen on to Do List Paper

“Figure something out.”

WHEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO

What happens when you are someone who has no real drive or goals in life? It can hurt a lot especially when you see people around you doing things and their lives moving around. You might feel like your life is not going anywhere and there will never be anything out there for you. But that is simply because you are comparing yourself to others. But you are also not honing in on your talents and skills. And yes, it will take a lot of time. And when I say time I am talking about years. But you are spending years doing nothing, so you should just focus on doing something. But let’s go a little further on the comparison to other people.

A SOCIAL SOCIETY

When you have all this social media around you, you can’t help but look at your life then look at the lives of others. But I am not just referring to anyone, but the people that are in your age range. And yes, there will always be someone in your age range in another tax bracket or lifestyle. But that should not be something that keeps people from growing to their full potential. And yet it is something that hurts a lot of young people achieve success. Here is another thing about social media world, people are not always if not most of them live that life. You are watching people post the best of their existence and hide the other things.

10,000 HOURS

Are you ready to put in the time to get to where you have to be. And here is where so many people fail to reach their potential. And this is also the reason so many people cannot put their full into anything to get started. They lack the sticktuitiveness to actually persevere into the life they have always wanted. It is great building in the first six months or even a year. But what happens when you are about two or three, better yet five years in and not much. That is when people start to really fall off. Trust that after ten years of fighting you start to see things in months and somethings weeks. But that is only after years of working.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN LIFE

Man Wearing Blue Suit

“The best is yet to come.”

IN DUE TIME

Many people are wondering how long will it be before they finally punch through and become successful. But it is all in time with patience and due diligence. We are such a now society, that we don’t want to think that it could take fifteen or even twenty years to get to where you have to go in life. But you have to have that mind-frame otherwise you will not get to that place. You would be surprised how many people have the talent to get to a certain place, but they just don’t have that patience. And that is something you must have is the patience and talent to persevere. Because things just take time, a lot a lot of time. So sit back and enjoy the journey through time.

WHAT’S THE RUSH FOR

We all want to be somewhere in life but we want it now. And there is a reason it takes so long. Not just because you need to build your experience and credibility. But you miss out on all those tactile moments of building in your career. And this is important because you will be lost if you don’t really know where you’re going or how you got there. You need to experience the pain because there will be painful days even in success. And without the ability to pull yourself up, you will delve further. So building through the hardship helps you get out of the funk in life.

JUST CAUSE IT MAKES MONEY DOESN’T MEAN IT’S GONNA BE YOU

Man Wearing Blue Designer Suit

“For the money.”

ALL ABOUT THE CHECK

We all have this idea of the career we want when we become adults. And the reason being is because we heard they make a lot of money. But what we don’;t understand is that you don’t come from college making that kind of money. As a matter of fact, you will go years not making that kind of money. And if you’re lucky, you might make a fraction of that in your lifetime. So for all those trying to get the bag quick, it’s not happening. You are better off going into a different career field and living your life. Having the goal and dream is fine, but put life into perspective before pursuing.

THE SKILL THEY POSSESS

Understand something about people who make a lot of money for what it is they do. They once have put a lot of years into what they do. But also, you have to understand that they have a skill to making money. They have something that goes into that career that sets them apart from the crowd. And you’re not looking at that before pursuing. We want to just look at the image of the car, the house, and the overall lifestyle. That in our mind translates into going to school then getting out and having that as a life. And it’s not that simple, you have to have the skill the want to grow and the networking skills.

LOVE WHAT YOU DO

If you don’t like what you do, you will find yourself giving up early on. Because the reality is, you are going to be working for years making little to no money. So the ones that make the big money are the ones who stick it out because they love so much of what they are doing on a daily basis. They are not only in love with what they do, but they love the process. So don’t only love the financial, but fall in love with the process.
