2019: WHAT WILL THE NEW YEAR COME OF MY BLOG

“Narrowing down the topics.”

what’s to come

The end of 2018 is just a week away. And I will be planning my blog for next year 2019. And for the coming year, I will be narrowing down the blog to 6 topics not 12 spanning the year. And these 6 topics will be of the most popular from my current year. So instead of writing a post from 1 topic for the month, I will be writing posts for 1 topic every two months. And this is the change, the metamorphosis of my blog that will eventually narrow down to fewer topics. As of now, there are two topics in competition with each other to see which one will make the cut. I will also provide more video content as well. Feel free to drop a comment about the topics you liked. Continue to like, follow, and share my work. SEE YOU  IN 2019!!!

PERSONAL PLANT GROWTH: HOW DOES ONE APPROACH THIS SITUATION

gardening, hand, harvest

“How to feed self.”

self sustaining

I have written in previous articles regarding horticulture and growing your own crop. Even recently I wrote about the GMO’s that are in our food. But what is the science behind planting your own crop in your backyard or on land? People in America used to be farmers, now we receive much of our crop overseas, we don’t even know the first steps in our own farming anymore. I have been thinking about this recently since wanting to buy my own house one day. Do I buy a really nice house, or smaller home but utilize the land for other means. Because that house looks nice, but the land used for growing crop is a good business.

obstacles

The obstacles you would think are the growing of the crop: how to plant and how to keep growth moving along. But the main obstacles to farming would have to be the government regulations. If you want to grow crop for your own personal usage, then get straight to it. But if you want to have any operation that is going to be generating profit, then these are the following permits you will need for crops and livestock:

giving it a go

So far we have been just talking about it, why not give it a try. I wonder what type of farmer I would truly become if I tried farming. And from the looks of how health consicous our society has become, it will either be growing your own crop of forcing farms to have better standards. Yes, we can tell from the list above we already have enough standards. But there are still practices that need to change in our society. And I not only referring to the United States, but globally.

SIDE GIGS: WHY MAKING ANOTHER INCOME IS CRUCIAL IN AMERICA TODAY

bank, banknotes, bill

“Nothing wrong with F-U money.”

In America today, working a conventional day job has become hard to come by in this ever changing society. So with that said, when working a job, you don’t know one moment to the next when you’re going to be on the chopping block. You could easily walk into your job and be told that we are downsizing. That’s when it hits you that you have no job, low bank account, and now your bills are due. So what do you do when the stakes are high and chips are low? That’s why having a second income in America today is cruical.

Now when I say a second income, I don’t even mean having another career. It doesn’t even have to be full time. You can have a gig for a few hours here and there over time. You might look at it and say to yourself, “Oh it’s only a couple of hundred dollars extra per month.” But a couple of hundred being saved over time may result in thousands the more you put away. Today, you’ll say, “It’s only an extra $300 dollars, why bust my behind.” Then three years into your job and you get let go. You’re down and out until you remember that you have a side bank account of savings from your side gig/s.

And that’s when you see it, nearly $11,000 in your bank account. It’s not a whole lot of money, but an extra $11,000 can help out a lot. Why $11,000; well it’s attributed to that “only” $300 you made each month that you have been putting away. Sounds simple, but it’s not as simple. Being able to generate a side income takes a lot of time and work, sometimes work outside your day job that leaves you with no time for yourself. And not wanting to put in that work is what makes people not attempt. Now, someone may feel they shouldn’t have to earn a side income. True, but life isn’t about shouldn’t, life just happens.

So in a society where things happen, you want the most options. You want to be able to say, “I don’t have a lot, but I got enough.” As for me, I don’t look at life for what should be and shouldn’t be. I just adjust to the changes and leave it at that, even if nothing happens. The whole mindset of crossing that bridge when you get to it can be dangerous because what if that bridge is not available when you get to it. Then the world around you collapses. So, in the end, setting yourself up for a cushion just in case is important. On average, nothing generally happens to people, but you can never be too sure.

I’M NOT YOUR MOMMY AND DADDY: WHY THE WORLD OWES YOU NOTHING

Image result for ENTITLEMENT

“Always got your hand out.”

In the household where I come from, I was under the impression that no one in this world owed you anything. As a child, my mother let us know that I am doing for you while you’re in this house. But the moment you become an adult, you’re on your own, unless you’re in school or making an effort to be something in life. Yet there was something my mother never wanted to do. She never wanted to start this whole road of something for nothing mindset. Because like I said, the world owes you nothing. Anything in this world you want, you had better be ready to go out and stake your own claim. But where does this entitlement come from in our society?

It hasn’t always been here like it is today. You had prior generations that went out and worked at a young age. As a matter of fact, you had kids in the early 1900’s working in coal minds side by side with their parents. Now days are spent playing video games on televisions or computers. Letting time pass you by while engaging in wasteful activities on cell phones. Which brings us to the first reason why people feel entitled. The technology in America has sped so much up, people think that there should be something allotted to them quick and instant. They don’t realize that the technology itself that speeds so much up took a lot of time to build. And when I say time, I mean some stuff as long as decades to build.

With the click of a mouse or the touch of the screen, we are instantly taken to our destination. That can make people think something should be given to them pretty fast. But it’s not just the technology that makes people think they are owed something. This same mind frame exist in the employment field as well. This whole my 75% is your 100%, and we all should be given something when we are clearly not putting in the same amount of work. A trend that has started from schools in children and has followed all the way into their adulthood. Now that you’re in the real world, you don’t realize that you’re not special. No one is going to hold you close and tell you everything is going to be alright. And that’s when you learn you’re not this beautiful and talented person, but more so that you are mundane because you have not put real time and energy into being great at what you do.

And you would think with what has been said so far, the owing stops there; no it doesn’t. People feel that you have made money, so it is your job to give them something. In their minds, “You have it, why not give me something.” Then they try to use the excuse of God blesses you to help other people. When in reality, that’s true, but there is something they are leaving out. God blesses people to help those who have made an initiative to put themselves in a better place. Giving people things without making them earn it causes you to be a crutch and it cripples them. It also creates a lack of respect that the person has for something you do give to them.

See, in the end, you want something in life, you have to be willing to go into the world and stake your own claim. Because the only person who has a stake in interest in you doing anything is you. I used to ask questions of the elders about back in their young days. I remember how my late grandmother would say growing up in the South, everybody had some plot of land. Didn’t matter how big or small, it still fed your family. And it was important you tended to your land since it depended on how you and your family ate. Because if your crop didn’t come through, your family didn’t eat. You were not owed anything and no one cared. Life was tough, but it was fair because we all have the capability to get out the bed and work. What’s that saying, we all have 24 hours in a day, what you choose to do with yours is your business.

INCREASING BLOG TRAFFIC: HOW I AM TRYING TO BUILD A TOPICAL BLOG SITE

blog, icon, information

“Building takes time, but damn, I’m three years in!”

Since the year 2015, I have been blogging off and on. This year I’ve been more consistent on a daily basis. But now that it has been three years, I’m now trying to figure out a way to further grow my topical blog site here on WordPress.com My first year I had 196 views, 70 visitors, no likes nor any comments. But I increased my usage in the year 2016 and the result of that work was 2,005 Image result for blogging trendviews, 600 visitors, 121 likes, and 11 comments. Now that we are in the year 2017, I have really been active on my WordPress blog site. And since then I have raked in this year 4,976 views, 878 visitors, 109 likes, and 29 comments. So my next questions is, “What will the rest of the year, and 2018 hold in store for me?”

Because I look at all these blogs that stated that they received thousands of traffic in a year. But something about that didn’t seem right the more I thought about it. Then I heard how too frequent of blogging may cause your numbers to slow up. But my reply to that is, Image result for bloggingshouldn’t people want a base of topics for me to cover everyday. What type of audience wouldn’t want some good insight on a daily basis. So now I am left with all these questions on how to build my blog. For now, writing everyday has kept my mind sharp because I want to become a working screenwriting, playwright, and novelist. And I contribute to my blog posts everyday; meanwhile I am working on my next short film. When that is complete, I will be back to writing my screenplays and books.

What should I do? Should I stop writing for a while? Or should I have more patients and keep at it? Because at this point it is like a daily routine that keeps me consistent with my writing. I’m closing in slowly on a milestone of 7,000 views all time. I don’t know, I guess I get jittery, especially when I hear the success of other people’s blogs. Image result for bloggingBut you can’t get a good enough gauge of how long they have been blogging. I’m prepared to go the distance, but only if I had some time frame, with some advice on how to build. Some would say keep on my current path, and others might say change it up. Where are my successful people out there who have built theirs to thousands per month, hundreds of thousands, or even millions?

I know my writing has gotten better since I first started. And my base of information has grown as well. And to make things fair for readers, I provide them with a broad outlook on various topical issues. Even going as far as taking a stance on both sides of a topic. Then again, maybe I’m just overreacting to the slow move of my blog. Because here I am complaining about three years, better yet 2.5 years. And there are people who have been building their blog sites for 5-7 years, or even as much as 10 years. In the end, hopefully 2018 looks better than 2017. If that’s the case, then maybe, just maybe all of this is in my head. And everything I have doing up to this point won’t have been for nothing.

DIFFICULTY ADJUSTING: WHY PEOPLE ARE PUSHING BACK AGAINST THE TECH SHIFT

“What we doing to ourselves?”

Recently, people have found it hard to cope with  the idea that jobs in the United States are moving out of the country. But not just any jobs, the industrialized jobs that once built this nation. Now, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any jobs left in America. It just means that the marketplace has shifted around. We are moving away from an industrialized nation to a more technologically savvy nation. And that is something that so many people did not see coming. People were under this impression that we’re going to work in factories for life. But everything in society changes, everything. And that you have to be able to shift with the constant change. So now everyone is mad.

But mad, mad at what? We have always been a nation that has made these types of shits in technology. Yes, jobs are shrinking in one area, but we will be making strides in other areas. And the fact that we are in an open marketplace, this creates so many more great opportunities. Yet so many are resistant to change in our society. No matter if it’s social, economic, or educational. Changes have to take place; this is how one nation stays ahead of another. And if America starts to lag behind, then this nation as a whole will start to  take losses. So what must be done to prepare for the shift that is taking hold in our society? They must face the inevitable, and move with everything else in our world.

As technology progresses, products and services will become more efficient and productive. Not only that, but cost will drastically be brought down.  And no longer will you need the labor of people to get a job done. Because a computer will be able to handle what people used to do. Meaning, we as a society will become more of an informational, operational, managerial, group of people. The man or woman who can use their hands to perform a task is a dinosaur. Now, what used to take pain-staking hours of labor can be done in some instances with the click of a mouse. Once again, does this mean jobs are loss, absolutely, but not permanently. Old jobs are removed and made way for new opportunities. Then why are so many people raging against the machine? Because of the time to put into learning something new.

And in the end, that’s the biggest concern with the tech industry taking hold. It’s not that people are down and out. It’s that people start to age and get set in their ways and don’t want to learn anything new. You are more than capable, but you’re so used to the status quo, you think it should stay that way forever. But remember one key aspect of change while you’re fighting it. The change that able you to be who you are, doing what you’re doing was pushed against. Yet the push was ineffective, which laid ground for you to be you. So you have to adjust and figure your shit out, there’s no other way.

PODCASTING: DEVELOPING YOUR ON AIR VOICE

Related image

“How will I sound: natural or unnatural?”

Since the beginning of the summer, I have been prepping myself for the podcast show that I am looking to create. It will be a scripted podcast geared toward motivation and inspiration. And the reason I chose to have a podcast geared toward this topic is because it not only puts me in better space mentally, but also society. People need an alternative to everything that is going in the world today. Especially with the politically divisive United States right now. The country is so split down the middle that we need an alternative to the daily news. So Faheem Jackson Words of Motivation and Inspiration Podcast Show will be live by the year 2018. But my main goal now is developing a voice for myself.

And when I say develop a voice for myself, I mean my sound. I know what I want to talk about and how I want to talk about it. But for me, I am working on getting used to hearing my voice. How does my voice sound to me versus how does it sound to other people? Will my message come across to people in a clear and concise manner? How will I approach reading to my audience from a script on my podcast? And all of this is something that I will have to continue to work on. I even practice through the use of Instagram videos of myself and posting for people to see and hear. To me, my voice sounds fine because then again, it’s my voice. But what is my voice to someone who doesn’t know me. We get so used to our own voices, we don’t really know what it sounds like until someone tells us.

Living in New York City, my accent sounds different to people living here. But to me, it’s a normal voice. I’m asked all the time, “Are you from the South?” And my reply is always, “No, I’m from the Midwest.” But to me, they are the ones with the accent. So, with that said, do I change my voice to fit into my environment? But, on the other hand, what if someone from New York hear my real voice outside of the podcast. Then they’ll see me as less authentic, and then it will turn them off of me. People might much rather listen to my real voice. Because me being comfortable in this different environment could be seen as respected. It’s hard to listen to someone talking motivation and inspiration, if the person is so viewed as unauthentic.

And in the end, that is the toughest job in trying to connect to people. Do they view you in an authentic light. That’s why it’s important to script out my podcast as clear and concise as possible. And practice what I plan on writing out, this way it comes across as if I am knowledgeable about what I discuss.
