“Where are my followers?”
A SOCIAL PROBLEM
I still remember the early years of Instagram or even Facebook. You know what, even going back to Myspace days. People have always checked on their ability to gain followers since social media platforms allowed for it. When Facebook first started, you had to belong to a college university and it must be verifiable. Today, your grandmother is on Facebook which signaled the decline of the platform. But then Instagram came along which is now owned by Facebook. And it made since to create this app because it was my life in pictures. But today, something more has taken hold which causes people to question.

THE HEART, THE PERSON, & A NUMBER
Have you ever opened up that Instagram and in the corner of the app the person icon with a number 5, 10, or even 100 for someone more popular pops up. This means that the number of followers have been added to the account. Or how about the heart pops up as well and then the number is revealed next to it for likes on the app. And it has even been a proven fact based on research that likes and followers on social media equates to a raise on a job.
It can change the course of your day seeing how people are taking a liking to your account. I can honestly speak on this personally. Now, as far as the monetary feeling I can’t say. But what I will say is there tends to be a more euphoric feeling internally. Only problem is that the difference between the money and likes is that the money last longer than the likes feeling. As for the followers you gain, we quickly look to see who just started following us. And if the person is someone publicly noted then we really feel validated. But the problem that stems from this is that you start comparing yourself to people who are followed more.
