BEST OF THE BEST: HOW ACADEMICS ARE BEING LOWERED IN AMERICA

Two Books Beside Two Chalks

“Let them fail.”

a grade shouldn’t be given

I was hearing on the television where a school here in New York City was passing students through and not even really checking to see if they were qualified to graduate. And you think to yourself, is this what schools have become. We are now just pushing kids through as if someone is going to push them through success in life. But for some reason the new thing is to give kids grades for simply nothing in the world today. This whole something for nothing culture that is in schools is only going to hurt kids in the long run. What is the reason for the change? Are our children this incapable that now we have to lower the standard in order to raise their confidence?

when did it start

Playing youth sports, I remember at nd of the season we got a trophy. I never understood why because we got pushed around the whole year. So I know I lost, but why the trophy? And then I got older and looked back on times. It was the start of giving kids something for nothing. Even in school I found out about the infamous curve. The curve where if every person in the class received a low grade, then the teacher would raise the grades of people to a certain percentage. And that is when the problem starts. I don’t care if the school classroom all got bad grades, it is what it is.

life is not given

Once we have given a kid everything, then what now? The world will not give them nothing for nothing. You have to work hard for everything you get in this world. I myself am going through a weird mental hang-up in my life. It is strange to go through this time, but as a young adult who is 32 years old, I feel like sometimes lost. But that is the realities of life, you are never going to be given anything. And that is very hurtful, but you will go through these times in life. This time period is no different; and this too shall past.

THE KNOW: HOW UNDERSTANDING YOUR PATH TO SUCCESS COULD BE LEARNED

blackboard, business, chalkboard

“I made because I have the it factor.”

cognition

We all have a way in which we process information in our minds, But is there are more to putting yourself in the know, and educating your way to success? Because no matter how much you give people knowledge, they have to be able to harness the information and make it work for them. And the making it work for the is where life becomes complicated. Because there is no road map to figure out how to be successful.

the learning environment

Now, when you are in school and trying to navigate through this academic space, how do you maintain good grades. Well, you have to train yourself to remember the lesson plan. But it’s not enough to remember, how do you use it is what’s important. How do you harness what you learned to build a life for yourself? That is something only you can figure out.

where does learning come from

Why are some people able to learn with ease and others struggle? Who is selected through what process to attain the knowledge needed for growth in their lives. And that is by way of natural selection process. Reality is that there is no real means of knowing who possesses what abilities. Not until they step into society. It may be a trait, or it may be based out of need and your own personal growth.

SELF GENERATING: DO YOU REALLY NEED A COLLEGE DEGREE ANYMORE

Steel Gate of Brown Brick Building

“Do it yourself.”

should i go

Throughout history in America, going to college after high school has been the choice for so many taking the path toward their career. And if you’re becoming a doctor or attorney, college is still the path to go. But what about other careers? Do you really need to attend college for four years to be an executive assistant? What about all those executive assistants in the past who performed their jobs well? They didn’t have half the education people do now, and performed their jobs better. So would we really send our children to college?

opportunities

What would you really miss out on by not going to college? What, the parties; what the girls/boys? No, no, there other aspects of college that you miss and that is the connections to people who are on campus that you otherwise don’t meet not in school. Meaning, young people who join fraternities or sororities, they have connections all over he country. And people in their social group have always been known to lend a hand a aid in employment for their brothers and sisters. Now, the average person does not pledge, so what about them? Well, there are opportunities to get close to your professors who may aid in connecting with people they know in your career pursuits. But should all these connections cost you as much as they do?

too too much money

We say the connections you make in college. But let’s be honest, the majority of people, no matter how many connections are going to have this glorious life. The majority of people are going to fall under a normal category of employed citizens in society. And they will have this mountain of debt following them everywhere they go. The schools below are the top five most expensive schools in America. Article can be read HERE!

OVERCROWDING: WAYS TO KEEP SCHOOLS FROM GOING OVER THE RECOMMENDED POPULATION

Image result for crowding SCHOOLS

“Navigating these halls can be impossible.”

school population

Walking the halls of certain high schools, you can’t help but to notice there is a major population issue with some of them. And the issue has been a problem for some time now. But how do schools districts deal with the overcrowding issues at area schools? Should they build another school? Should they go down a list of students who are tardy and start eliminating them that way? Should schools be encouraged to push students into earlier graduations?

cost

The cost associated with overcrowding are not just monetary for a school. The other non-monetary cost are the inability to focus in a classroom. And the other cost is the lack of connection made between student and their educator. These are more long-term effects of a school that follow a student even after they graduate from high school. But the biggest has to be the problem with trying to teach in a class where there are just too many in the classroom. And with disruptions that generally occur, the student would be better off teaching themselves. Because the students that want to learn are not getting anything from the lessons anyways.

alternatives

I gave a few options in how to deal with the issues surrounding overcrowding in schools. But one option that may be overlooked is trying to get students to graduate early. Find the students who are higher performing, and give them incentives into leaving high school early. Aid them in scholarship money for early graduation and that could decrease numbers in schools. You could also observe who is the most disruptive, and remove those students as well that negatively effect a learning environment.

WHAT IS SMART? THE CHEMISTRY BEHIND WHAT MAKES YOU HAVE INTELLECT

battle, black, blur

“I think may not be I am.”

human brain

The powers of the human mind gives us the ability to create all sorts of things in this world. We are the only creations on the planet that have the consciousness outside of nature to choose to yes do or to no not to do. And that option has spurred out the very civilization that we have today. But through the building of our civilization, we have always had the thinkers; the great minds that are the architects of our great lands. What separates these people from the rest of society? Why do they think the way they do to create what they do?

not special, yet special

We think just because we have a thought it means something as people. And that makes us think and feel like we’re special. But we are not special, yet still special. And that sounds odd. How can one be special and not special simultaneously? Simple, every person has something in life that their minds are able to wrap around. Whether we realize it or not we do. Problems is, most people will never find their thing that makes them great. Because I don’t think we have this world of few minds, the rest of people just walk around aimlessly needing to be led. It’s just that the great minds not only found their thing, they are able to get out of their own way to make themselves great. That’s when you recognize you’re special, yet not special.

unique design or work

Now, in the prior passage I said everyone has something. But is it all about the having something, or is there a bit of work to get one place and you find that thing you do. Because to say we’re uniquely designed to be smart, so are all creatures. But in order to grow from where you’re at, there need to be a degree of work involved. But, then again, can you be just a gifted person? And that is true as well. But that percent of smart people is even smaller than the ones that find there thing that makes them, them. Truth is, there must be a combination of both to truly be great. Even the high level intellects worked, because if you don’t exercise that muscle, you lag behind.

DISADVANTAGE EDUCATION: WHAT SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT KIDS LIVING IN AREAS OF POOR EDUCATION

building, ceiling, classroom

“Poor at no fault of their own.”

poverty stricken

For myself, growing up in a poor community, I could have easily fell victim to the poor education crisis most major cities fall victim to. But since I was from a small city where kids of all economic backgrounds went to school, that wasn’t the case. But now that I live in New York City, I see the issues with kids living in poorer neighborhoods and the education gap with them versus middle class or even upper middle class. The children born poor, at no fault of their own, have much lower standard of education that they’re receiving than kids in higher income areas.

the conundrum

There is a dilemma that children growing up in these areas face. Because people always say, they don’t want to learn, but tax dollars being pulled from these environments are poor. So it becomes the kid’s fault that they are ready for college because they come from poverty. And that is where the conundrum comes from in their lives. It’s the fault of elementary students to high school students that they receive poor education. Whomever thinks that is rational is irrational themselves. But is that all there is to it? Should we be just outwardly placing kids in schools?

nothing given changes things

Prior I said nothing should be outwardly given to kids in disadvantaged communities. Meaning, living here in New York City, we are experiencing an issue where Black and Latino kids are being pushed out of specialized schools; but are they really? The East Asian students are coming from households where parents don’t even speak the language of the test their children are about to take, but the kids pass. So in my opinion, placing kids in the schools don’t change anything. Aiding in preparation materials that makes the kids eligible is how you go about the situation. As well as having a cultural identifier that places emphasis on education. Because placing kids doesn’t fix the problem. The Asian kids were prepared because of the structure of the groups as well. So we should aid poor communities, but from a more practical standpoint.

IN NEED OF DIRECTION: WHAT SHOULD I STUDY IN SCHOOL

Interior of Abandoned Building

“Choose what fits you.”

that thing that makes you, you

When choosing an educational path in life, you want to pick the thing that sets you apart from everyone else. But you also want to select a path that will aid in your growth after college. And that is the thing that your mind wraps around which will benefit you in your growth in life. It’s more than just going to school, it’s the foundation for you entering life.

topics of interest

Sit down and compile a list of topics you want to study. Write down the top 50, then narrow it down to 25. After that, narrow it down to 10, and from there 5, then 3. And of the top 3, choose what works for you. I know 50 sounds like a lot, but you want to give yourself as many options to choose from as possible. But I will say, once you narrow down the choices of what you really like down to a top 5, start trying out these options. You’ll know what clicks and what doesn’t.

honesty is key

Are you getting better at what it is you do? Be honest, know what you are doing is your thing. So many people think just because they want to do something, it means it’s what they should be doing. Not necessarily so, what’s good for you is not what you may want to do. It may be on the basis of how good are you at what you’re doing. So knowing what educational material your brain starts to wrap around will give you the courage to step into the world.

build your base

On your road to success in your educational pursuits, be sure to grow mentally. Go outside the classroom, and create your knowledge that you are not being taught in the classroom. If you solely depend on a degree alone, you’ll find yourself in serious trouble. You will only have the foundation, but nothing more. Imagine walking around New York City, with all these skyscrapers, and smack dab in the middle of all of them, a foundation, and nothing else. It’s out of place and a cause for concern. So build, build, and continue building.
