MINORITY SELECTION: WHO WILL BE THE NEXT MINORITY PRESIDENT

“Whose next?”

2020 and beyond

The presidential election run of Barack Obama left a door open for the next president either Black or any other ethnic group. But the question still stands, who next? Because in my opinion, there will be a White female before anyone else. There aren’t any prominent East Asian politicians or Indians that are strong candidates. The closest Hispanic/Latino candidates would be Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz. And the only African American next that’s remotely a force would be Kamala Harris. Now, do I think this will happen in 2020, no. Because in my opinion, just observing the landscape of America, Donald J. Trump will be back in the White House in 2020.

importance

What is the real significance in having a president that is of another ethnic group. Doesn’t mean much to the group who has always seen a president that looks like them. Even now with young Black kids growing up. They didn’t understand why older Black people, typically middle aged and above, were in enamored with Barack Obama. Yet, for someone who has never seen themselves in that position it means a lot. Let’s look at something on a much smaller scale. The former New York Knicks basketball player Jeremy Lin was an anomaly in the NBA. He was an Chinese American basketball player, who not only played in the NBA, but played well for New York. The interest from the entire East Asian community created a massive following for the Knicks. So I’m thinking, what would happen if there was a “Lin” for president.

what is a minority really

We always look at the word minority and say to ourselves, ethnicity. But what about the first White female president and a member of the LGBT community of any ethnic group. We will in our lifetime see a president that is one of the two mentioned in the previous sentence. The questions are who and when will it take place. Because from the looks of America right now, Donald Trump, or another like him (White male, older conservative), will be president if not him. Does it matter if we do have another president of a minority group? Does it have to be another African American? How about Hispanic? What about Native American? How about a White person, but a female? East Asian? Or is America going to stick with what has been in history which is White males? Because we all say pick the most qualified candidate, but I am intrigued to know when these historic moments occur, who really votes from the job or the historical image.

A DYING MEDIUM: HOW THEATERS ARE BECOMING A PAST PLACE TO WATCH MOVIES

Image result for abandoned CINEMA

“The intimate has become less intimate.”

the experience

In the past, when people would venture to the movie theater, it was more than just watching a film. The entire experience surrounding it was an event of its own. We have watched the theater go from a black and white projection screens to a multinational companies with high definition screens. But another experience is taking over, and that is the internet/at home experience.

from the comforts of your couch

Today, people have more of a reason to be a couch potato than any other time period in history. Why, well it’s because the idea of watching everything from a device in your hand. There is no need to go to theaters Image result for movie deviceanymore. As a matter of fact, you can elect to  pay more money and watch the movie from home before it leaves theaters.

not just for the wealthy

Image result for luxury home theaters

There used to be the days where only the rich could own their own home movie theaters as you can see from the photo above. In the past if someone told you they had a home cinema, you thought they were extremely wealthy. But now, there average Joe, thanks to YouTube tutorials and other helpful tools are building their own home theaters as seen in video below.

This video below of a YouTuber Jonathan Danforth building himself a home theater system. It is a 14 stage process he took to building it. Watch all his videos and enjoy.

what is to come for the future

In the future, theater companies will have to adapt the same way everyone else has adapted. Making money in theaters are becoming harder and harder to accomplish. It’s the reason the superhero craze has taken hold. But eventually we’ll get tired of that craze, and then the studios and theater companies are in trouble. Because going to the theater is not enjoyable anymore.

IDENTITY: THE IMPORTANCE OF A STRONG CULTURAL IDENTITY

“A name, a religion, an identity.”

 so so important

In a world where social and political strife has been erupting lately, what is the significance of having an identity on a ethnic level mean to you? Because I can speak for my myself coming from a family who were descendant of slaves, there is no real strong culture like a lot of families globally. Meaning we don’t have an official language, religion, country, or namesake.

actor, adult, ancient

And the problem with not having an identity of your own, and having someone else dictate your identity, is that you seek validation from that group. And then when that group shows the slightest bit of disinterest there is this fight to be had. It’s why you must define yourself, and not look to other groups to do it for you.

the fear that is identity

Why would there be fear connected to the identity of another person? Well, the reason why fear exist is because you seek to control a group of people. How do you control people who have their own cultural identifier. Little you say or do matters to them as a people. But when you are able to manipulate and control, that group needs you.

And the reason why you may seek to control is because there is a supremacy factor. Supremacy lies in the ability to feel better than another group of people. But also you need another group to show why you’re not in your supreme position so you can have a reason to continue to hate and look to self as the reason you’re not successful.

shifts and changes

As time progress, will we see cultures collapse, and due to war and conquest. But we may see the decline to the introduction of more and more technology. The cultures of the past that have held groups together has gone from one of isolation to one of inclusion. We are becoming more and more a one world place to live.

But can that last forever (togetherness), since we as people have a hard time coexisting for too long. There always going to be someone who wants a little more than someone else. Someone working harder or going to be smarter. And that advantage will bring us together, but will also give rise to new wars and separation. Man loves having an advantage, and with that comes power, and with power comes abuse. So thinking we will be this one world place in the future is farfetched, which is why cultural identity is important.

CULTURAL SHIFT: HOW TO STAY RELEVANT IN AN EVER CHANGING WORLD

Image result for RELEVANCE

“Staying ahead of the curve.”

RELEVANCE

In a nation where technology is constantly changing, you must be able to work well with it to stay relevant. But what about the norms in society in regards to how we communicate with each other.

And one of those shifts that you must take on to stay relevant is how people communicate. There are people who have been in monogamous relationships for years, then end the relationship. Next thing you know, they have a hard time trying to get back out in the dating world.

It’s because they are not up on the current state of dating. And it’s not just dating where people find it hard to cope in life when they don’t stay relevant. People also lose the ability to understand why certain political decisions are starting to take hold.

STAYING THE COURSE

How do you keep from being left behind? Because it is so easy to get left behind because you’re focused on the things that aisle you. Especially if there is a new generation that pops up where you can’t understand why they are the way they are anymore.

You now become the grumpy old man or woman because you are unable to survive. So everything becomes a this generation this and that; but in reality you can’t hold on. You are starting to lose your footing.

So what must you do to stay in the game, you have to exercise your mind. Push yourself to understand what is going on besides shutting down to the opportunities. The change is tough because you’re used to one thing, but it is necessary for your survival.

BEING LEFT BEHIND

What’s scary is that there are so many people who refuse the change. Then once something better comes along and they have not prepared they get left behind. This creates a feeling of sour grapes in their mouths.

©OWN NETWORK

The above video on YouTube is from an interview that Oprah Winfrey conducted with regards to Gay Marriage. People have been so stern against this shift which is bound to happen. And if you are unable to accept it, then you’re going to find it impossible to live. Because there is no use in fighting the inevitable.

WHY DO SOME PEOPLE TEND TO WANT TO HOLD ON TO INTERNAL PAIN

Related image

“Why hold on when you don’t need to do so?”

Holding on to internalized pain is something that so many people do on a daily basis. And I am not referring to the people who seek out therapy as means of getting out of a dark place. I am referring to the people who can change their lives. The people who can move from a place of pain and live a good life on the other side. They refuse to do so because in some weird way it makes them unique to say that they have this problem. It’s a way to get attention from those around them. And if they cure themselves of whatever it is they’re going through, then what are they to do now. So they hold on to their problems because they never want to feel like they’re not special.

Only problem with these types of people is that they actually start to annoy the ones close to them. At first, everyone was trying to help them. And loving the attention makes this person stay in that mind-frame. But after a while, those that cared about you will eventually give you an automaton. That’s when you realized that you have gone from being someone they wanted to help to a burden on the family. This could ultimately be the wake up call that some people need in life. But there are still others that are the “me” people who you just have to separate yourself from; for good. They will only further cause you to become more enraged by their lack of taking responsibility for their actions. Now my question is, “Where does it come from within that makes a person want to hold on to pain besides a fear of not being special anymore?”

Another reason people who can change choose to still hold on is because once you release you’re expected to do better in life. Putting yourself in the know means leaving behind how you once thought to move into this new space of peace. So many want to not only stay in their place of turmoil, but want you to join them. Now why would anyone want someone else or many people to join them in turmoil? The reason being that no one wants to live alone wallowing in in their own garbage. They love to see not only other people with them, but other people who are successful. And success is important because if the once successful person is now wallowing in garbage, now that is confirmation in the hurt person’s head that thank God they didn’t attempt at life to change. Because in the end, who truly want to look in the mirror and say I have a problem and it starts with me. Yet, the more you are able to, the more you move into a space of internal peace.

MEGA CITIES: HOW THE AMERICAN LANDSCAPE WILL CHANGE OVER TIME

Related image

“The exodus within a civilization.”

In the future to come, we know that the United States will take on a major cultural shift. But what about the geographical shift that will take hold. Over the next few decades we’re going to see the country move in a direction that is in more alignment with our major cities getting bigger and the small cities and towns shrinking. The reason being is that younger generation are leaving small towns and older generations are dying.  So places with populations like New York City with a metropolitan population of close to 30 million people could see itself rising to as much as 60 – 70 million people. This will cause the wealth will be highly centralized in these bigger cities. Places like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, and Washington D.C. could be our new mega cities. Cities that will be nothing but high rises.

But on the other hand, what could this do to the social landscape of America? In New York city, there are so many people of so many different ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds, people tend to have conflict. It’s easy to say diversity, but with diversity comes so many other challenges. And not to mention the educational aspects of how America will shift. These universities that consist of 30,000; 40,000; and some 50,000 students could climb into the six figure range. And with the cost of college increasing, maybe in some of these mega cities the cost could decline because of the highly populated numbers already bringing money into institutions. Or , the fact that mega cities exist might make people want to go into the smaller areas for college. There are other issues associated with these mega cities as well.

Well, crime for starters; on top of the already criminal element in these major cities. You will see people moving in that are new to the cities, who want to establish themselves in the criminal underworld. So now there will be an influx of law enforcement because we could see the criminals coming into the landscape. And on top of that, the poverty could increase because with technology moving to scale, now you have a less need for human labor. Coincidentally, this is an aspect of life prompting people to move to major cities in the beginning. Now that people are already here, there is this new element of poverty. So people will basically leave poverty in search of a better life, ending up in even worse poverty. But with all the problems, what would be the benefits of having these major mega cities, a lot.

In the end, there are a lot; a whole lot of opportunities to utilize land more. In America, with these mega cities, you will have more room for growth of crops for harvest because so much American land is not utilized. We could see ourselves becoming exporters once again. We could also see these major cities as a way to monitor more of what is going on in our country. With so many citizens living in one area, and fewer outside, then the ability to contain major problems is efficient. Also, with so many people in one area you’re getting the best of everyone, creating more innovative ideas, which could ultimately grow the country at a much higher scale than now.

THE STORM BEFORE THE CALM: HOW THE UNITED STATES IS SO MAD BECAUSE IT’S GETTING BETTER

Brown and Beige Wooden Barn Surrounded With Brown Grasses Under Thunderclouds

“The fight among ourselves is as volatile as the weather.”

America has always dealt with issues socially in our country. As with any country, there are issues in the past, in the present, and will be in the future. But the more recent problems that have popped up into existence in the news are decades, even a few centuries old. And those issues are race, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. You would think that these would be non-issues considering the United States government signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968. But just because you sign an act that keeps business, organizations, and schools from discriminating, it doesn’t change the people. People in society will always have bouts with each other over so many mundane topics. But is it going to really always be like this, or is it the storm before the calm rather than the usual phrase of the calm before the storm? Maybe this is the beginning of real change in America.

Because looking at America is like looking at how forest fires typically take place. A lot of the times, forest fires are sporadic, and seem to happen out of nowhere. But what’s interesting about forest fires, is that they burn everything, then lay down the foundation for new brush to grow from the area that was previously destroyed. And I thought that to be interesting considering America is that type of country. We burn things down, and once they burn we look back and realize, you know, that should have been burned down. Because we have something so much better that we live by now, it make the past seem ridiculous to go back. Now, you’re going to reach everyone, but it’s not about reaching everyone. It’s about creating the most stable environment for everyone to inhabit. And as longs as that stability is there, we have ground for something much better in the future. Are there any other reasons we fight because things are getting better?

Yes, we also tend to fight because there are people who remember a time where they didn’t have to work as hard, or even have their beliefs challenged. The way things were in the past was what it was, and no one dared to challenge. Now, you’re watching your word get challenged constantly. And you’re also unable to explain yourself because you never had to explain yourself. So you push back against the new ways simply because you see it as you becoming irrelevant. And no one wants to of themselves as irrelevant or outdated. Because this means you don’t have importance anymore. The landscape looks foreign to you, so you feel like you’re losing something. And in the end, this is what it all boils down to; winning and losing. People in America have this feeling that we are losing something in life. No matter how big or little, there was a time that benefited some and not others. And when you feel that is in jeopardy people begin to lose their cool. But as we look back over time, we begin to look at life differently.
