When you are on a team and want to get a promotion for yourself, how do you stand out so that you can advance. Because when you are building and want to grow within and organization, you need to stand out. Yet how do you do such a thing with so many other people of the same mind-frame as you? Everyone, from the moment they walk into the office space, has this one thing in mind and that is climbing that ladder to the top. How is this going to pan out for you if you feel you are the one of many to make it happen?

As you are making the rounds and knowing everyone in sight, you are going to need some type of ally. And the reason being is because you want your name to make the rounds of people that will be getting to know who you are in the office. They will speak highly of you which will then in turn aid in you being the chosen one for the promotions as time goes on. And what’s also going to happen is people will not hold as much animosity for the role being given to you. You will then also be the guy people want to impress for their chance to rise up.

Working late nights really makes you stand out in the crowd. You show up early and leave later then everyone else. But make sure you’re doing something that requires your time and not the impression you are doing something. You don’t want to fake the part, but be the part. It’s so easy to get caught up in the idea of being what you want instead of actually doing the work. And when you are getting work done, it makes it easier to promote you forward. Once again, you need allies as much as possible for when you get in that role you have people with the least amount of resistance.

compliment don’t hate

How to kiss ass and not appear desperate. Man wouldn’t that be a great book to be written because it’s what it is. You have to be willing to compliment the work of others as much as possible. Let your work stand on its own and talk great about others. Trust and believe there will be people who reciprocate. And worst comes to worst, the people who you compliment might walk away with the promotion. But they will be told how you aided in your complementation. So guess who’s name is in the strong race for the next step up. Now is this a guarantee, no, nothing is, but you are and will be remembered moving forward.
