NO COLLEGE CAREER

“Why sit in class all day?”

DO YOU NEED IT REALLY

Going to college you have all these ideas about what life is going to be once you graduate undergraduate school. You think that life is going to be so cut clean and dry when it comes to finding employment. But what you don’t realize is that your college degree is a small aspect of the overall success of a person’s career. Now that I have embarked on my career journey I am looking at life going, why did I go to college? Because there are people who go to school for photography or filmmaking, but you really don’t need to do so. As a matter of fact, you can actually pay less for the equipment and getting yourself started versus going to school. We also have enough videos out there and books to self educate.

SPECIALIZED STILL NEED SCHOOL

There are careers that still need a degree to obtain the role. And those are usually jobs where you have to get into the medical fields like surgeons. This is because someone’s life is in your hands. So for that reason, you have to be in school, usually for a long period of time. But is medicine the only type of career you need to go to school for, no attorneys in most states. That is because the extensive training is necessary when dealing with the outcome of people’s lives.

OPEN MARKET

In this new improved society we are able to have careers that don’t always need degrees. You can put yourself in the know and build a life today. So a lot of young people have been thinking twice about going to college. That, or they are going to smaller schools that require less money to pay back and are living at home.

COMPETITIVE CAREER FRIENDSHIPS

50 U.s. Dollar Banknote

“Let’s be friends later.”

COMPADRE COMPETITION

Having friends in similar careers or different careers, but similar career drive, will create a pretty good competition. And to be perfectly honest, i think that it’s a good thing that you and your friends have this type of comradery. It will push you guys forward toward where you both need to be in life. And without that, or close circle of friends you tend to lose something that you’re fighting for. You compete against life, but you don’t have these people close by to chase to your dreams. Making this a life experience can be healthy, just as long as you have friends that all share that similar thought process. It can be hard to stomach when there are negative mind-frames in the mix.

YOU LAUNCH AND THEY DON’T

What happens when you start to take off and your friends do not? This can start to be a burden when you build more and more. They may turn their attention to you because they are not going in the direction where they see themselves in a place of success. You would think that your success would make them want to fight harder. And initially they do, but eventually they turn on you. So you have to pick your friends wisely because these are the people that will either make you better or bring you down.

THAT INNER FIGHT

Where does the fight come from when you have that competition? I don’t know, maybe nature gives us this type of comradery is what we need as a species. And even when you don’t have friends, watching people pushes you as well.

GATES KEEPERS AND THEIR PLACE TODAY

Pathway Between Green Trees Brown Steel Gate during Daytime

“Are they necessary?

OPEN THE DOOR, LET ME IN

In any career, there are these people who stand at the gates when it comes to trying to succeed. And they are the keepers of the gates that allow you the access through to the other side. But in the America we live in today, I’m not so sure that we need those gatekeepers like we did in the past. We in such a digital age that you can open up doors for yourself. As a matter of fact, you don’t need to come in the gate and meet different people to be great. You can now create your own system and be the keeper yourself. But there are a few places where you still might need to get that foot in the door via someone you need to know to make moves.

CLOSED ACCESS

In an attempt to build a career, there are jobs that require some type of gatekeeper. It can even be seen as a good thing to have gatekeepers. For example, you want to go work for the Pentagon or Area 51, then you are going to have to jump through some crazy hoops. This is because there are government clearance checks you have to go through, but also knowing people who can vouch for you is important. These are not jobs that are easy to come by, and shouldn’t be easy to come by. But we still have the ability to climb in a lot of other areas.

BREAK THE GATE DOWN

In the space of media, you have the ability to knock the gate down. In the space of engineering, you have a lot of abilities to knock down the gate. It’s because the way technology is designed, you no longer have to go through various chains to be where you want to be in life. You can put yourself in position to where the gatekeepers are asking for the ability to be in your space.

WORKING YOUR LIFE AWAY

Photo of a Woman Thinking

“I hope it’s worth it.”

CLOCKING IN AND OUT

We all get up and go to work each and every morning; well most people at least. But then there are the people who that’s all they do is work. And I hope whatever they do it’s worth the fight because that time you spend doing whatever you can never get it back. So make sure this means a lot to you since your life will be based upon it once you reach the end. You are going to miss out on pivotal moments in your life as well as the people around you. Friends and family will marry and have children without you being present. Not to mention the holidays that take place. Oh, and one more thing, the deaths that occur over time. I know, me myself, living in another part of the country, you go back home and don’t even recognize your family that has grown up. They were babies when you leave and teenagers now or adults.

NEVER REACHING THAT PLACE

Can you imagine getting old and realizing that everything you did is in preparation for a life that is no longer relevant. That is what happens with so many people who push for success. Or better, they never reach where it is they truly want to be in life. It has to be the hardest thing in the world to realize. And then you look over the life you’ve lived and come to also realize that you missed out on all the great things from friends and family. You probably lost people along the way you can never get back. It could have been through just growing apart or even death. But is at always as bad as it seems? And the answer is no.

WHEN IT’S GOOD IT’S GOOD

Now that the bad things are out of the way, what about the good that comes with the focus. And when it works itself out, it does in an amazing fashion. Because all that work and time put in, means you have built a pretty good portfolio for yourself. And the people who are often afraid to build wonder how you did it. As if you just woke up one day and had all these things in life going for you. It took many years and a lot of restraint. You missed a lot but you also gained a lot. And as far as the people, not everyone is meant to be with you on your journey. You will lose some people, but that is expected.

WORK LIFE BALANCE: TRYING TO BE SOCIAL AND DRIVEN

Woman in White Long Sleeve Shirt Standing Near White and Gray House during Daytime

“FOCUS ON YOU WHILE FOCUSING ON YOU!”

PUTTING YOU FIRST

Have you ever had the feeling like no matter how hard you work, you still feel like you’re missing something? And that is because you don’t have a good work life balance. You are very successful and making strides in your career, but for some reason your life is still no fulfilling. You have to step back and look at where you are now. You are not missing anything by taking some time off. Make room for having some type of social life. Because you will not be remembered when you die for anything you built if you are so isolated from everyone. You have to know how to unwind.

IT CAN ALL GO AWAY TOMORROW

In a flash everything you worked for can be gone. And if all you were known for was getting the bag, then you are going to have problems if you shall ever lose the bag. Meaning, you work with nothing else in your life, and you lose your work, then who do you have in life. It’s fine to be a hustler, until the hustle disappears somehow. You now find yourself trying to reach out to people for some sort of guidance, and there is no one there to aid you or console you. So what you have to do is try to make yourself more accessible to others so you that you stay close enough where you don’t lose your closeness to society, while also focusing on work.

THE ADDICTION OF THE GRIND

It is so hard to not get stuck in your work especially when you are trying to climb to a certain height. The only problem is, the height you are trying to reach is a lifetime climb. You can’t get to the point then live your life. Because what if the height takes you fifty years to accomplish. Now you are at the end of your life. So don’t get to the end to only regret getting there in life. The great thing about life is living in the paradigm of it. And then getting to the end and looking over at all of what you are happy to have done.

COST OF CAREER: WILL YOU SPEND MONEY TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Silver and Gold Coins

“How much did your career cost?”

saving toward the job

Are you interested in a career that requires you to spend a great deal of money in order to have this career? For me, I am pursuing photography and filmmaking which are two careers that require a great deal of time and money in your life. You will have to put money in, meaning growing your production equipment over time. But hopefully it is worth it when you start to make money off your equipment. Now, on the other hand, since you are business for yourself, you can finance your equipment. This is what happens when you are putting up money for your own career. Most people don’t do this, but when you are business for self, it requires your money or a loan.

when college is required

A career path requires you to pay for your chance at success would have to be Med School ¬†and Law School. That is not to say that any other career is not important, but these are two careers you have no other choice but to go to college (California law exception). Most careers you don’t need a degree, but you have to pay for anything that is medical related. There is a must that you go through a time period where you have a specialized training process. This can take years even after you have graduated from undergraduate school. Now, for the amount of income that one makes from most of these job, it is seen as an upside to become a nurse or surgeon. But beware, you will be paying off the college debt for a long time, so start early making payments.

start small people

If you want to be successful in your career that requires you put a substantial amount of money in, then start with something simple. For example, I started with this Rebel t6i camera and a small lens. This means I can enter with at least something then as I start to get business, for me, I would finance my equipment. And then paying it off as I go along. There is nothing wrong with wanting something high end, but we all have to start somewhere.
