GIVING UP IS NOT A SOLUTION

“Keeping trekking along.”

WHEN IT HURTS MOST

Wanting to give up is something so many people pursuing their career feel like doing. But for some reason there is something that is holding you from doing this, and that is your drive. And it’s a good thing because quitting should be the absolute last resort. It should be the thing last on your list once you have tried everything and finally you have to give up. Especially if this is something you are good at and getting better. But the reality is most people do give in to the climb because it is so difficult.¬† It’s like the quote by Thomas Edison that, “many of life’s failures don’t realize how close they were to success when they finally gave up.” Such a strong and powerful quote that I live by in life.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM

Somewhere in your head is this feeling of dejection. We don’t know where it comes from, but it is always there lingering. And the reason we have this in our heads is to give us the ability to back away from danger. It has helped keep us alive on this planet for so long. But the reality behind succeeding in society is you have to take risk and be fearless. Even if you fear which most people do, you have to trick yourself into getting out of that mind-frame. We all have it, even the most motivating people have fears. They just do a good job at shifting their attention on to keep pushing. Now, that thing that has kept us alive, there are always the ones that are fearless that have pushed the world forward.

STRAP IN FOR THE LONG HAUL

Success in life is a long long road to where it is you want to truly be. You have to be patient and know that it will take a very long time. And when I say long time, we are talking 10 years, 15 years, even 20 years more most. So if you are only a few years in and feel like falling off, then you are in trouble because everything will be painful and take a long time.

APPRECIATING THE SPACE YOU ARE IN

“Keep your eyes on you.”

YOUR GOAL IS THE GOAL

Far too often people are looking over at what other people are doing and how they are building their futures. And they are not grateful enough of where they are at by doing so. Plus, sometimes who can blame them when you have a social media platform that is a constant reminder of how awful your life is in the world. Because you just have a mundane life and everyone is doing something so much better. Then again so many people lie about their great lives on social media. But this is more than just that, it’s people who frown on why they are not where others are in life. Some even will squander a blessing because they feel they deserve more than the person with more.

KNOW WHEN TO CASH OUT

Life success is not only about building, but sometimes you have to know when to throw in the towel. And a lot of people just don’t know when to throw the towel in this thing called life. You will win $100 million in prize money, but another person will win $500 million. That is their winnings, but don’t throw away your ticket. Sometimes you just have to cash out here in life. And look at the bright side, most people don’t get even a small percentage of $100 million. But it’s something about people not seeing themselves that they won’t cash out, but throw the ticket away.

NEVER GOOD ENOUGH

There is always someone better than you at something. So if you are constantly comparing yourself and looking at another person’s success, you never can live the space you have carved out for yourself. And trust and believe, someone would love to swap places with you. That person might also be close to catching you as well. So why you’re comparing yourself to others, the person behind you might pass you and now you’re even further from the top.

CROSS COUNTRY CAREER: WHEN FAMILY IS NUMBER 2

Image result for FAMILY CAREER

“Which comes first?”

BALANCING ACTS

When you are working toward your career and trying to make strides in building, you miss out on a lot. As a matter of fact, what happens when you are from an entirely different part of the country? Like myself, I am from the Midwest, so I miss on quite a bit. But it is what it is, you’re working your regular day job. You can’t just say, “Hey, I’ll hop a flight back home and come back tomorrow.” It’s just not realistic to think you can live like this. You just have to come back when you come back. And your family has to realize that you are not close and have to see them later. But then again, you’re not the only person who probably lives far away.

THE NEW NORMAL

More and more young people are moving away from home. It’s because to find work, some people have to move away since work may be hard to come by in some places. Families are also becoming a lot more fragmented because of the shift. Yet, it is considered normal and most families are fine with it. I myself often think about the family far away, but they even understand. Considering the place where I come from is so poor. The work is rare, so you have to make moves in your life.

GOTTA DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO

I know it hurts, but you have to make those moves to build your life. You can’t be afraid to have a career because you’re worried about leaving family. If you live in a city where you don’t have to move fine, but sometimes you have to go. Realize there is nothing where you are, and make adjustments to leaving. So, be well, and good luck on your journey.

JUST CAUSE IT MAKES MONEY DOESN’T MEAN IT’S GONNA BE YOU

Man Wearing Blue Designer Suit

“For the money.”

ALL ABOUT THE CHECK

We all have this idea of the career we want when we become adults. And the reason being is because we heard they make a lot of money. But what we don’;t understand is that you don’t come from college making that kind of money. As a matter of fact, you will go years not making that kind of money. And if you’re lucky, you might make a fraction of that in your lifetime. So for all those trying to get the bag quick, it’s not happening. You are better off going into a different career field and living your life. Having the goal and dream is fine, but put life into perspective before pursuing.

THE SKILL THEY POSSESS

Understand something about people who make a lot of money for what it is they do. They once have put a lot of years into what they do. But also, you have to understand that they have a skill to making money. They have something that goes into that career that sets them apart from the crowd. And you’re not looking at that before pursuing. We want to just look at the image of the car, the house, and the overall lifestyle. That in our mind translates into going to school then getting out and having that as a life. And it’s not that simple, you have to have the skill the want to grow and the networking skills.

LOVE WHAT YOU DO

If you don’t like what you do, you will find yourself giving up early on. Because the reality is, you are going to be working for years making little to no money. So the ones that make the big money are the ones who stick it out because they love so much of what they are doing on a daily basis. They are not only in love with what they do, but they love the process. So don’t only love the financial, but fall in love with the process.

WORK FOR FUN: TURNING YOUR FUN INTO CAREER

Jumpshot Photography of Woman in White and Yellow Dress Near Body of Water

“Make it a vacation.”

my work is my fun

We all have these visions of this dream job that involves us working and living everyday like it’s your last. Having this great career that means you get paid to have your fun. But the reality is, very few people will ever get their dream job. The majority of people will never be able to experience that jittery night before Sunday going into the next week. They will experience I can’t wait until Friday feeling so I can get out of here feeling. And that is no way to live, but it’s a realization for so many. So how do you land that dream job so can do what you love instead of what you have to do?

time energy money

You want that dream job, but the only thing that is holding you back is what? Nothing really, unless you want to factor in the lack of confidence. For starters, the time it takes to put into a career, so many people are afraid of failing. So what they do is live their lives not ever pursuing because of the fear. The fear of putting a lot time into something and it not working. Then there is the energy on top of the time. We have to accept our reality while working a dream. And that means time on top of time, with working a day and pursuing at night. But wait a minute, then there is the money it takes. And I don’t mean rich, I mean not having a relationship or not hanging with friends. Why, so that all your pennies go toward what you want over time.

taking opportunities when they come

Not every opportunity come sin the form in which you want it. Sometimes it comes in the form of cashless services. But who in their right mind want to work for free. But there are times where no pay or low pay have provided people ¬†with the ground work of doing so much in their lives. For me, it’s buying a camera with my own money and small equipment as well as making my own short films. This is the start for my career as a filmmaker, photographer, and author. Take the risk yourself early on, and then people will be willing to work with you.

WORKING SMART NOT HARD: WHAT TO DO NOT HOW LONG YOU WORK ON IT

Grayscale Photography of Man Stretching on Chair in Front Computer Monitor

“Doesn’t take all day to get the job done.”

pulling long hours

You might think that working for hours on hours will be the best way to ensure you become successful in your career. But the reality is that working smarter doesn’t always mean the one who works more time. Because you have to think about what your time is spent doing. For me, my long hours are not continuous work. My long hours is me trying to come up wit ideas for writing and also putting together my various projects I will be working on throughout this year. So that is the long hours that I spend in the computer lab. All the while I am working my day job in pursuit of my dreams in life.

keeping an open sound mind

My mind is open, so open that when I am writing I have to be careful that it does not wonder too much. Since I am creative writing, I like to get into these scenarios when I am writing, and tend to go off and lose my time. There have been times I have been locked into a scenario for hours and didn’t realize the time lost until the sun was going down. So this may be a case of working smart because I am into the scenario. But at the same time, if nothing is written then you can realistically say that time was lost and that wasn’t smart at all. It’s why I try to manage my time by keeping my mind focus.

what’s the task

You may be sitting down working on trying to complete your task. But you have to think to yourself what it is you’re exactly putting all this time and effort into to make better. The task that you are working on has to be worth the energy otherwise it’s considered lost productivity. And when the productive time is lost, it was a waste to even sit down in the first place. So know that the there is a sound problem that is worth you tackling before continuing forward.

CAREER: INTO THE FUTURE

Close-up of Hand Holding Text over Black Background

“Where do you see yourself?”

times to come

Ever since we were young children, we all had these ideas of where we would see ourselves in the years to come. In elementary school we have one idea, then high school another. But as we enter life the views change into something else. And for me, I wanted to be an attorney in elementary, a business executive after that, and now that I am an adult I found my calling in the arts. We go through these different changes in life because you have no clue who you are or what you want as a child. You have these visions because you don’t have a firm grasp on the world. Your strengths and weaknesses have not been put to the test yet. So it’s easy to say what you want until you are challenged.

what’s your plan

How can you see yourself anywhere in life without a plan to go along with what it is you are hoping to accomplish? Just saying I want to do something is not good enough. You must have something laid out and follow the plan all the way through. Because even with just a plan, you have to execute. And these are the steps that make it hard for people to sit down and focus in life. So many people don’t have a plan and never fully execute. Now, for those that do, they are one step closer to being where they want to be.

nurture your talent

I know I want to be a writer, filmmaker, and photographer, so I am constantly working on my craft. If I am not writing my screenplays or book ideas, it’s my blog, or when I am not writing it’s me out into the city taking photos. But outside the two, it’s my filmmaking. And that is what you must do, it has to be a daily thing you do. Once you start to get into that routine feeling change something. I recently just cut down the number of topics for my blog and changed to website appearance. It gives it a new look to the consistent writing everyday. Otherwise you will start to get that mundane feeling an get sick of it.

perspective

What are you good at? What can you handle? Do you have the sticktoitiveness to keep going? The idea of being somewhere in life feels so much better than actually pushing to be there in life. Because the vision is exciting, but the climb is not fun at all. You might hear people say they are in love with the process, but truth be told, who truly loves the process. Wouldn’t we love to have the idea and there it is on paper. Doesn’t work like that, so you have to put in the time to get where you want to be. And also have the rational mindset to know what you can do and your willingness to get there, as well as being practical about the time-frame to get there.
