SELECTIVE OUTRAGE: WHY WE REACT DIFFERENTLY WHEN SOMEONE FROM A DIFFERENT GROUP HURTS YOU

Image result for selective outrage

“We accept the same circumstance anyways.”

No matter if it’s racial issues or some political commentary, we as a society have this selective outrage over topics that make us mad. Yet we make excuses on the opposing side for the same people in our own environment. What it is psychologically that compels us to fight the issue from the outside versus on the inside. We have been seeing this from the sexual assault allegations coming from the entertainment business. The people in the business have spent the better portion of the year going after President Trump because of his past indiscretions, then next thing you know sexual assault now is pooping up all over the industry. But today’s topic focuses more so on the ethnic piece of selective outrage. Why do we accept violence or ostracism from within, but it’s a bigger deal when it comes from another group outside of ourselves?

For example why do we as a Black community become outraged and protest over the police shootings, but no protest over gang violence from within? Why is there a bigger reaction when a White girl is sexually assaulted by a Black male than a White male? Because there is a piece of that which is primal, and then there is the piece of that which is socially constructed. The primal aspect has to do with this ingrained animalistic portion of us that reject someone who is from a different community. Anyone we perceive to be an outsider we will react strongly toward more so than anyone else. It’s still that small primal aspect about ourselves that we have retained dating back hundreds of thousands of years ago. Then again, there is the social construction and that is how we as humans shape society.

If you observe human evolution and how we came to be, you look at the out of Africa theory. And once that happened, people started building their own civilizations, which were seen as these great empires. But eventually humanity ventured out and realized that we are not as special as we think we are in building great things. Why, well there is another civilization far away that is building something just as great, if not greater. So to keep others in our own space from realizing that maybe our rulers are not as great as we think, we are told others are savages for not living our way. So a lot of the way we perceive other groups of people is by way of socially constructing civilizations over time. Yet we do just as much harm from within. Because we either like to act as if it doesn’t exist, feel it is for some greater good, or transfer blame to someone close by.

In the end, we make so many exceptions when dealing with each other in society. And then when someone on our own side gets into the same trouble, it tends to expose the agendas that we push. And when it comes to racial agendas, they have been going on for so long, that I don’t even think people want to change their thought process. Because a shift in thought means people have to look at life differently than they do now.

POLITICAL SHIFT: HOW THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY COULD REIGN SUPREME ACROSS AMERICA

Image result for DEMOCRATS

“The pendulum is starting to swing.”

Since the mayoral and other council races back in November of this year, party lines have already began to show a sign of turning back blue. Some say that people are already getting fed up with the current President Donald J. Trump, and others have stated that these are places can typically swing in either direction: Democrat of Republican. Now, as it comes to no surprise places in Florida and Texas has still kept their political views going strong for the Republican party. But, when you look at the political maps across the country, you can’t help but notice that the pendulum is swinging back in the opposite direction. And what is this due to in America? Could it be that Trump supporters are getting tired of him already, or does it have to do with new voters.

There were three of age at the time Trump was elected President last year who are now 18 years old. Which may very well be the very few voters. Or, there could be the population of people that did not get involved in the general presidential election, who came out to vote. Because remember, in this past election of Donald Trump, nearly half the country didn’t vote for a president. These non-voters could now be getting involved because of their lack of initiative in the national election. And lastly, there are the people who voted Republican, who are now saying they made the wrong decision, and now want to flip sides.

Because if you observe the election percentages, you have Democrats that have won by major percentages. And yes, if you look at the major metropolitan cities, you tend to see a more Democratic win, but these are wins even in small cities and towns. So what has happened that has caused so many Republicans to lose their position in the party? Could it really be that since Trump was elected, he has caused all of the mistrust in the party? This is only his first year in office, and already, confidence could begin to be lost in a party. And with a new generation coming into the voting pool for the year 2020, the Republicans better start seeking out young people and fast. Why, well the millennials and the newly introduced Generation Z will be the majority. Two generations that have become turned off by the Conservatives on the right.

And in the end, that’s the biggest issue, is that a young generation is being shaped by a party. But not just one generation, two back-to-back generations. All the while, being turned off by the other. So if the Republicans don’t start to find ways of reaching out to young voters, then you’ll start to see a close to impossible win by Conservatives in any election whether it be city, state, or national. Because what we have is an aging declining older generation and a growing younger generation shifting to the left.

WHY SO SERIOUS: ARE WE REALLY TOO TOUCHY OF A COUNTRY

Related image

Stop crying, everything is not offensive.”

In the recent years, the United States has gotten more and more sensitive. Some say it’s because of the media’s 24 hour news cycle, others say it’s because of the new generation. And then there is the claim that social media contributes to the sensitivity. Whatever the case may be, people are getting in trouble left and right because of something they have said or some type of action. And what’s crazy is that it doesn’t even take much to cause the friction between people. I thought this was just something that celebrities went through, but now we have average Joes telling on each other. A lot of people say it’s President Donald trump and others have said it stems from the nation’s first Black President. Well, what are some ways we have become too sensitive in our society?

One way is the idea that we disagree politically. Former Press Secretary Sean Spicer was a guest at the 2017 Emmy’s. And being that he was a former aide to Donald Trump, people went off the rails about him being present. Why, well people felt he lied for the president. Now, I know as we all do that press secretaries do as they are told. So he didn’t say any more for Trump that someone else didn’t do for another leader. But since people are so upset still over the election of Trump, anyone attached to him, past or present is catching hell. Are people right for their feelings toward Spicer, or should everyone just lighten up and have a moment? I laughed about the situation, but so many people felt it was way out of line. Yet is politics the only topic that has made us sensitive?

No, the racial conversations have emerged once again in America. A conversation that has been going on for generations, and shows no sign of going away anytime soon. Is everything racial? Especially when observing Black and White people in America. And what’s crazy, sometimes it seems like the smallest encounters spiral into something much worse. An easily avoidable situation becomes more than it has to be. Ending with the dominant society putting their own spin on what has taken place. And once that happens the story takes on a life of its own and the original circumstance no one seems to care about anymore. Everyone has their emotion and agenda, and before you know it, it becomes a populace engagement. And yet, there are still other topics that have been of interest, one being the sensitivity when dealing with sexual orientation.

Since Donald Trump has taken office, one of his actions was to refuse Transgender men and women the opportunity to serve in our armed forces. A move which caused even more controversy from the decision. It was also a move that I disagreed with because you should be able to serve the country in which you live. But even before the decision, terminology describing members of the LGBTQ community caused issues. Some say certain words are derogatory, and only members of the community can say certain words. But in the end, the sensitivity of America will eventually spill over. Because people who are overly sensitive will become victims of their own sensitivity. And then and only then will they understand the problem.

ROME IS BURNING: THE RAPID DECLINE OF THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION

Image result for trump administration

“Everything is starting to fall.”

Since President Donald J. Trump have been elected in November of 2016, he has consistently been in the news. And now there’s a new story, adding to the already mass media hysteria. This time it’s for two incidents: the first being the Neo-Nazi/White Nationalist march in Virginia and now the firing of his Chief Strategist Steve Bannon. This now the third person who has publically been fired or stepped down from the Trump administration. The first being his former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, then his Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, and now Steve Bannon. Now the question is, whose next on the list of people stepping down. And will it eventually get to the president of the United States?

Well, there are key people who have been in the news that could be next in line to be removed from their positions. The next could be the United States Secretary of Education Betsy Devos. She has taken criticism because of her stance on how Image result for devoseducation should be dealt with in public schools. One of her stance that people took issue to was student choice programs. She felt that students should be able to use tax payer money as vouchers to attend private schools. A move that could hurt a lot of good educators. Because what parent wouldn’t want their child to receive a good education. But since we have more public than private schools it would a lot of students who don’t qualify for certain schools as well.

She also drew criticism from the Black community stating that HBCU’s were the model for choice schools. Crazy statement to make considering Black people had no choice but to create HBUC’s because we were not allowed to go to school with Related imageWhite students. And within this statement she made similar claims of leaving it up to the states in whether public schools could use federal tax dollars to discriminate against certain students from certain demographics. So she could be next on the list to be removed from Trump’s administration. But is there anyone else on the list? In my opinion, Vice President Mike Pence position is fine and attorney general Jeff Sessions; as well as Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. The next after Devos will be Trump’s son-in-law, and the duty his daughter serves.

See, Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who not only serves as Trump’s Senior Advisor, but he’s also the husband of Ivanka Trump. Ivanka is Donald’s Advisor in the White House, which is a serious conflict of interest. Jared Kushner comes from a prominent real estate family, and his role as Senior White House Advisor Related imagemakes his role a conflict of interest with his family  business. He also came under attack for his meetings with Russian officials during Trump’s presidential run. Now his daughter Ivanka came under criticism for him appointing his child as his advisor before she stepped down as the face of her own jewelry brand. Both of these people being forced to step down could cause Trump to falter. Not to mention another advisor to Trump Kelly Ann Conway. He could begin to make even more vital mistakes.

And in the end, I feel this is how the government plans on getting Trump out of office. Break down everyone he has appointed. Then the people he trust most, force them out. Now he’s surrounded by nothing but government people he does not know, nor does he want to communicate with on any level. He’ll be gone, andRelated image Pence could step into his position, with Paul Ryan as the acting Vice President. New faces would come into play, and America would go back to business as usual. Which is what the system was supposed to have been, but Trump won. And he should really buckle down, otherwise we could see another president forced out for the first time in almost 20 years since Bill Clinton was impeached.

THE KINGDOM IS FALLING: HOW AMERICA COULD BECOME NAZI GERMANY

Image result for american congress

“If politicians don’t stand by their word, someone else will.”

We promise to build schools, create jobs, fix the healthcare problems, stop crime, and keep our borders safe. These are the same old words spoken from the mouths of politicians every election cycle. They stand in front of the podium, make promises that will never be delivered. They collect our tax dollars, then tell us to give back to our communities. Then they get elected and you never see them again. This has become all too common, but no matter how much they lie, we continue to follow them. We run out and cast our vote, then wait for things to happen. But nothing of the like transpires. They sit in their comfortable positions and retain the job until the next person comes along.

Now, I don’t know about anyone else, but this madness has to make you stop and think to yourself, “Why vote?” But is there something that could eventually take hold from all of these promises that are never delivered. What about the leadership of a person who is far more sinister than anyRelated image other leader we’ve had past of present. Everyone is going crazy over the presidential election of Donald J. Trump, but is he the real problem. In my opinion, he’s not the real threat. The real threat is the guy who may pop up next. People are getting more and more desperate. Could we see another dictator, this time rising into power in America?

Now it sounds crazy, but when people are desperate they make some pretty crass decisions. Trump was that guy people voted for out desperation. You might ask yourself, why would a country vote a man with no political experience into the White House? Because America for the longest was a leader in manufacturing. We produced automobiles that were the backbone of a nation, as well as coal and other mined minerals. But in this modern era, there is no room for this old school method of growing a nation. We are more in an automated global economy. But what happens to all those people who depended on these industrialized jobs?

I’ll tell you what happens to these people, they lose out. They don’t know how to work a computer, or build anything that is of use in this new time period. So what now, entire regions of the country, mainly the Midwest, depended on these jobs. So here is where Trump steps into the equation. He

says bring back manufacturing jobs from China, and everyone cheers. Yet they don’t understand the global economy. And if they did, they would know that this is impossible. So what happens if he can’t bring those jobs back to the country? And now you have even more desperation from people.

You would think people would rush to learn and understand the new methods. But they are so set in their ways, it’s hard to learn anything new. So what do they do, sit and wait. Hoping something will change, but it won’t. If the wrong person is able to speak, almost in a Hitler esque manner to the people, he could rise into power. Because people are starting to get that desperate, that even a fascist dictator could be leader as long as he stood by his word. And you never want people electing this type of person, just because he’s honest in speech, yet hateful in intentions.

And unlike the continent of Europe, where America and other allied forces intervened. Who would intervene into our crisis? It sounds crazy, but we also never thought Trump would be the leader of the country either. So watching him grace the stage proves people’s desperation. He in my opinionImage result for american divide is not a fascist by any stretch of the imagination. But the idea people would elect him out of desperation leads me to believe we are heading in that direction. And in the end, that’s my discomfort. We like to say oh well, people have to adjust to the new changes in America. But if they can’t and stand behind someone not in the nation’s best interest, we may all suffer.

INCENDIARY POLITICS: WHEN THE ACTIONS OF FEW BECOMES THE ACTIONS OF MANY

Image result for democrat and republican

“People just can’t see themselves.”

The dual between parties have been a rivalry for decades. But since Donald Trump took office, now people are fighting more than ever. I spoke in a recent post regarding the shooting of the United States Congressman Steve Scalise. The motive behind the shooting was the shooter’s outrage at the Republican party. But dissatisfaction is not enough to pull a gun and shoot a politician. Yet some of these are the same people who are anti-Trump. Then you have his (Trump) support system which have engaged themselves in similar behavior. So what is it? Don’t people see themselves when they behave in this manner? Don’t people see that in violence your fight is lost.?

You have people want freedom yet, want to restrict what you say. You have those that want tolerance, who themselves have limited tolerance for others. And a lot of the hypocrisy that we engage ourselves in, we don’t see it from our own point of view. To us, the way we behave is completely fine. Because the decision make sense in our minds, so no one sees themselves as irrational. Yet, that is what we have in America today; irrationality. So, what will it take to bring people back to their senses. Because what we’re doing now is proof that not an outsider, but we are our own enemies.

It will take the backing of our leaders to reassure the public that everything will be ok. And that is something I don’t hear too much from Donald Trump. He is quiet, and when he does speak, it’s usually some sophomoric, smug commented directed at the media. But, will this stop people from behaving a certain way. My best guess is no; they’ll not like him no matter what. Nonetheless, the people have conflict with each other in America. Friendships and relationships have ended, even families are on opposite ends of the spectrum. And what’s really sad, is that long after Trump has left the White House, people’s lives will still be fractured.

And still people can’t see themselves. People can’t see themselves so much so that the dominant society’s actions have become more incendiary than the people they fight against. It almost makes Trump and Pence look normal compared to their support and adversaries. In the end, is it all hate, or are most people worried. Worried about their rights, their families rights, or maybe it’s because of the unpredictability of our future and economic situations. People just sit around worrying themselves and living in fear. Fear for a future they had hoped to see which may inevitably boil down to nothing in the end.

ISSAH YA’LLS PRESODENT!: WHY POLITICIANS FAKE FOR THE BLACK VOTE

Image result for hilary jive talk

“I likes me some malt liquor, watermelon, fried chicken, and your vote.”

Ever take a look at the evolutionary chart at how man evolved. We went from ape-like in form to a full grown human walking upright. But evolution is not the topic of discussion today. The topic today revolves around race and politics. Well, what does evolution have to do with race and politics. And when I say race, I mean ethnicity. The reason I opened with evolution is because of the way in which politicians communicate with African Americans. With everyone else, they speak like the upright human, yet when it comes to us, they operate as if they must lower themselves to talk up. Almost as if the person is far less superior or comedic in seriousness.

What do I mean by communicating in a lowering manner. Well, have you ever been to the zoo. When you see a monkey in the cage, you cuff your arms at the elbow and bring your fingers toward your armpits. You make monkey noises because the monkey is a joke. The monkey is inferior to you and you think by mimicking the monkey it makes you connect to them on some level. You make monkey noises, and the monkey approaches you, preforming flips about the cage. Then you laugh and go, I think he’s trying to connect to me. You might actually be pissing the monkey off and don’t even know it. But what do you care, the monkey is locked up. Can’t do any harm when you’re locked up.

But seeing politicians behave this way, is it all them? Or do we as African Americans play a role in the behavior? Because when politicians are speaking before a crowd of anyone else, they talk in their normal voices. But around Black people, they swap their normal day-to-day voice for an infliction in dialogue synonymous with Black people. The reason I ask what role we play in this behavior is because we support these people. They come into Black churches, community centers, and social gatherings. Get the vote by behaving in this ill manner, then you never see them again. That’s until they need something such as our vote for the next election cycle; when the madness starts all over again.

For the reasons above is why so many young Black males and females were turned off by Hilary Clinton. She was so over-the-top with her antics, it made us more uncomfortable than comfortable. From her admitting her need to always carry around hot sauce for her fried chicken to dancing on the Elle DeGeneres show to hip hop music. But, like I said before; how does she know to behave this way? I don’t think we are the teachers, but I do believe we operate  like the monkey flipping in the cage. We’ve (Black people) become too entertained by White people performing Black things.

In the end, unless we make a demand for it to change it won’t change. I know what some people think, “Maybe she’s just trying to connect to our culture. But that’s not connecting just because you can play dominos with Black men in Harlem. Connecting is noticing their is a problem in the Black community and having a sound plan as well as taking appropriate measures in dealing with the issue. It’s the equivalent to me as a Black man going into the Jewish community spinning a dreidel, wearing a yamaka, and performing traditional folk dances to connect to them. Instead, I should be focusing on designing measures to decrease anti-Semitic crimes and ways in preserving culture in this ever-changing cultural climate where so many cultures are lost.
