THE MIND GAME

This pandemic lockdown has created a country of not only structural chaos, but mental choas as well. You have even had a string of attempted and some actually followed through with suicides from this lockdown. And it’s not the lockdown that has them suicidal. It’s the loss of a comfortable surrounding that so many have become accustomed to living. Why, well because a once thriving business owner is now destitute. A lockdown has forced employees to lose their jobs and now have to make financial decisions without a consistent income. All this has led to a mental breakdown of our country. We have not seen despair like this since the Great Depression. But what is the country to do because so many will not have a job even when the system reopens.

RATIONAL DECISIONS DIMINISH

On any other normal day, your mind is free to think about your needs and wants. And this is because your life is so predicated on what you do for a living. So when that job loss happens everything seems to come at you at once. But it’s not coming at you at once. All you’re experiencing. Is your life on a daily which is under control when you have a job. But since you’re not working that consistent windfall is actually realized. You get a chance to see the totality of your life. And you become over-burdened like, “how do I dig myself out. Problem is, you may not buried. Your mind creates more than what you’re used to but its all the same as usual. Meaning paying $2000 a month in bills is not seen when you have a job. You just pay bills toward the end of the month. But when you lose a job you see the $2000.. And seeing those numbers creates a lack of confidence ultimately creating a breakdown mentally. Then you do end up burying yourself.

KEEPING BUSY

When all you think about is your current situation then you’re going to go into an even deeper depression. So for me I have continued lifting weights as well as getting back into running. This gives you a normal routine that takes you away from your struggle. And you will be able to pick yourself up quicker than most in your same position.

in a world of hurt

Studies have recently came out and found that people are far more depressed in today’s society than ever before. Now, a lot of signs have pointed to the consuming aspect of social media. The idea that no matter how well you’re doing, someone somewhere is doing better than you. And if you are constantly comparing yourself to people on social media, then yes, you will be mentally hurt. And that is why the state of our mental health has been in such a low place recently. But what is even more sinister is the idea that people have become to infatuated with making other people lose everything they have ever worked for because we are so unhappy. Whoever thought that we would be so unhappy that someone else getting ripped makes us feel good.

whose to really blame

If the state of our mental health is so low, then who should be held responsible? the answer to that question is us. We are to held liable for our own hurt not some internet portal. We shouldn’t see Instagram or Facebook taken away because content makes people unhappy. Because people always have a way of turning it off. There are close to 1 billion people on Facebook, but 7 billion people in the world. That means you are on it because of choice. We seem to look for places to get us angry when it really is as easy as unfollow. The things that makes us unhappy we can detach quicker than we know. Reality is, we are addicted ti the anger. It almost gives us a sense of belonging in a world where no one sees us.

nothing new but the weather

A lot of our issues we have always had as a society, it’s just that we have not never had an outlet like today to express ourselves. So now we just pour all of our emotions out for the world to see and hear. And what it has done was expose what was already there, yet not everyone could see. And that is that we have, a serious metal health problem in our world. Now, like I said before, we have to fix our own problems, but it’s hard to fix the problem if people won’t even admit they have a problem to start.

MOTIVATION LOST: HOW TO KEEP GOING WHEN YOU’RE FEELING DRAINED

Have you ever found yourself working on nothing for long periods of time. Meaning, you have things to do, yet you can’t get anything done. Your motivation to continue to work is just not there. We have all been in this place; for career writers it’s called writers block. That inability to write something, anything that is of substance. Which further leads to a lack of motivation to write. Only for everyone else, who are engaging in performing an action for their work, they can’t get work done. Something mentally, emotionally, just has them and they can’t shake it loose. What is it? What is that thing I can’t quite describe that causes the human brain to just freeze, giving us a lack of motivation.

step away

Whenever I am working and feel myself losing the motivation to continue, I step away for a while. I regroup then come back to whatever it is I am working on. You need that step away so you can get your mind right. Be in the right mental space so that you can give your best to your work. Because when you’re trying to force your work it’s going to come off bad. It’s like being a guy trying to attract women when your swag is off. Go back, work on yourself and then try going out dating. But if you force your swag, no one will date you. It’s almost like a nature thing that is set in, that even other people around us can feel when we’re off.

find points of engagement

Learn to look for an id, when trying to get motivated to work. Meaning, try having a mundane conversation with yourself to gain some form of inspiration so that you can continue and ultimately finish your work. For example, you are trying to work on a science project for school. You are having a hard time with the building of the project. So try talking to yourself about a regarding how science has benefited man throughout human history. Create all these different scenarios in your mind to the point where the conversation becomes real. IN that talk with yourself, you may not only find other additional ways to finish your project, but finish the project in a far shorter time than anticipated.
