FUTURE TELEVISION: HOW TELEVISION HAS CHANGED OVER TIME

“Where are we going?”

it sure has changed

From when my mother was a child, to me, to now; television has changed a lot over the past 50 years. When my mother was young she said there only a few channels on television because so much was on the radio. But when I became a child, there were well over 100 hundred, plus the emergence of the internet. But today, there is so much programming that we have to catch everything on our phones or tablets. Now, if you missed your favorite show, who cares, you can watch it on your portable device. And that is the full change of television. Which is why purchasing a T.V. is so cheap today.

where are we going

Imagine a world where no matter where you go, you put on your glasses, press a button, and out pops the screen. You can literally watch a movie that no one else is seeing but you. Your boring subway commute or that long time spent in a traffic jam won’t be so bad after all. Ok, ok, maybe not driving your car unless you’re a passenger, but you get where I’m going. The ability to stay connected might actually boost the ratings for television shows. Because we think a television is an actually product for watching moving images, but television is a telecommunication medium. That is a very wide range of meanings.

impersonal or more personal

People seem to think that there is a lost of connection the more digital we become. When in reality, we are becoming more connected as a species. Especially if the augmented reality and virtual reality starts to get better and better. We will find ourselves in a type of world that we live out our dreams as an escape from the daily grind. We’re always looking fora distraction from the hardships of life. Augmented reality will become a great medium for entertainment, while virtual reality will become a great place for getting away. Imagine a virtual world of lying on the beach. You can take a vacation to a place you might be able to afford, but can enjoy it.

THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK SEND: HOW DIGITAL COMMUNICATION IS GETTING US INTO TROUBLE

Person Sitting Inside Car With Black Android Smartphone Turned on

“Comfort in our enslavement.”

type type send

With the advent of technological breakthroughs over the recent decades, we have seen a sharp increase in people finding themselves more and more in trouble. And the reason for the trouble is because whenever anything new hits the market we are all too eager to be apart of the change. So we race to be first, but little do we know, we are setting ourselves up. Setting ourselves up for the downsides that come with using the new technology. Those downsides in today’s society being that everyone can see your dirty laundry the moment you type send. And that is something we never think about. We have a thought, type it out and hit send. Little do we know it comes back to us in the form of backlash.

why we type

You would think in a climate where everyone is getting into trouble the things they say, we would be more careful. But still, stories come out where someone writes something, it gets screen grabbed and next thing you know, the story makes headline news. But why do we blindly type, not realizing there could be negative attacks on the other side. For starters, we know there are countless others who feel the same way. So we are the ones brave enough to actually speak our minds. Yet the main reason we do so is because of emotions. Social media has given us a really good insight into not just the person, but the “emotional” of humanity. We are witnessing in real time the psychological breakdown of the emotions we usually act out in the mind getting placed on screen for the world to see. And we all do it, yet we get a kick out of others in trouble. Which is a psychological study in itself.

trial run

What you are witnessing in society is the trial period of the beginning stages of using technology. In time, we will learn and get better, but for now, this is all new. We have never been so connected as we are in America right now. We can click send in New York City and someone living in Boise, Idaho or Hong Kong can read my message. So we are the genie pigs for what will be a more connected and understanding human later on in time. With this new connecting, we have to get all the kinks out first. Then people will learn how to maneuver around the controversy so as to not get into trouble.

we love enslavement

Will we ever get better, and sadly, we may never. Yes, I said previously that once we get the kinks out the way we get better. Only problem is that we get better in one area, then becomes slave in another. Because there are is something about vulnerability we as humans are addicted to. Our credit card get stolen we don’t get rid of our credit cards, we just get another card. We online shop and our information is stolen. We don’t stop online shopping, we just find another online store. So that constant vulnerability is the reason people will continue to get into trouble typing and hitting send.

WHOSE IN CHARGE: WHO DICTATES WHERE THE CULTURE GOES?

“We are in charge, but still let others make decisions.”

moving it forward

In America, every generation has something that defines who they are: Baby Boomers Rock N’ Roll, Generation X had television sitcoms and music as well that shaped them, and here we have Millennials that are now being shaped. But not mainly by the music, but by the social and the political landscape of the country. But I what I want to know is who is in charge of the culture that we push forward. Is it the people or is it something in the mass media and telecommunications? Because even though the people choose what they love, we don’t always choose what we see either.

television news outlets

The initial deciding factors in people getting their information is through the medium of our television news networks. And nothing has been more powerful than the news outlets. The newspaper has gone strong, but the television gets it to us immediately. And we have depended upon them for the longest to push information out to us. So with that said, do they drive the culture? Because the big networks have been battling because of politics: CNN and FOX News. And whatever they feed to society, people tend to bite and run with that information. Yet there are other deciding factors in driving the culture.

social media

Image result for social media

This is now a major driver of the culture in today’s society. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Google, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and many others. As a matter of fact, to a large degree, one of the main reasons the former President of United States Barack Obama was elected was because of campaign pushes via social media. Young people became so engaged in both elections that now leaders in this country as well as outside are engaging on social media. So you can say that social media pushes the culture forward.

we the people

So, here we are at who really pushes the culture forward. We the people push the culture forward, but have allowed the mediums to feed us so much throughout our lives. We now have become our own journalists, and our own musicians, and our own filmmakers. We self-publish and we self sustain because we have the resources now to do so. But as with all the good that takes place, there is an ugliness to the culture as well that the people push. We have become language police and the sensitivity is at an all time high. Now, a lot of that comes from the reprehensible past that people have dealt with. But by correcting it, we overkill making up for it. Yet, as with this shift in culture, what does the future look like with the next generation?

WWW.NOBRAIN.COM: HOW IS THE INTERNET MAKING US MORE DEPRESSED AND LESS INFORMED

Image result for INTERNET

“You would think it would be an improvement not a hindrance.”

With our hands on so much information, you would think that it could potentially make us smarter. But it has not made us smarter, yet more so it has made us more slaves to our vulnerability. Which all sounds odd that we are more slaves with more information. But the information is not making us smarter because there is so much falsified information out there how do you know what’s real or fake. From the mass media on television in their competition for ratings, to the internet websites looking for hits and visitors rather than the truth. So what is the consumer left with, nothing more than multiples pages of information leading to nowhere. But then again, when we hear the truth we disregard it because lies sound much better. Well, why does the lie sound better to our ears than the truth.

This is the main reason why conspiracy theorists are so popular because they feed into not only the curiosity, but the ignorance of those not in the know. And the more we are feed it, the more it has led to people becoming more and more miserable and less and less happy. Then on top of it all, we see the perceptions people show us of their lives and it makes our existence seems that much not worth living. Everything that they are engaged in seems oh so exciting, yet they are stuck with what someone else is doing that is more than themselves as well. It just becomes a circle of fascination with ourselves leading to no one being happy with themselves. I have always wondered about the people in charge of putting out a lot for this content, how do they feel. We are the consumers, but how do they feel having to funnel this information to the masses. What is their level of satisfaction in life.

Meaning, what are the people in companies like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube doing on a daily basis. It seems to me like their jobs are more enjoyable because they get a chance to make the news. And when you’re making the news, you get to create anything you want. Or is it more like they are creating the community for the people to make their own news. And there lies more depression and sadness. The masses have now become journalists, which presents its own set of problems. Professional journalists have a certain way they handle information that is different than the average Joe. So it is more trustworthy coming from the mouths of someone trusted on T.V. than some young blogger or videographer on a platform. Yet in the recent years, journalists themselves have become these get it out there first type of people. No matter if the story is true or false.

So now, in the end, we have cultivated these mediums where we receive all this news and information. From Google to Facebook, YouTube to the national news outlets. We are constantly bombarded with information and news, but the internet has become the biggest form of receiving information lately. Yet since it’s coming from so many unknown and known journalists, we don’t know what to believe. And for that reason, we have become depressed, sad, and miserable. Receiving news from so many people in so many forms makes us not trust anything we hear until it is smack dab in our faces. By that time it is far too late to react.

AUGMENTED REALITY: HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE THE WORLD AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Image result for augmented reality

“In a world that is beyond our world.”

Technological innovation has been pushing the bar for decades. Yet as we look back at what was supposed to be the hot items, they are so generic looking now. Especially compared to the great products that are hitting the market in today’s society. We look at the past and say to ourselves, “Wow, that looks Grey Vintage Crt Tvawful.” “I remember when that was the in product that everyone wanted.” But it’s not an awful product, it’s just that the innovation to technology has made such leaps and bounds. I look at televisions in just my lifetime. The picture quality of a television in the past for what I thought was incredible, looks dated now. So what does the future hold?

And when I say what the future holds for us, how will we communicate in the future through various forms of mass communication. Because we already don’t use televisions like we once did. Now, our cell phones and laptops have replaced live television. It seems odd sometimes when I turnSpace Gray Iphone 6 on the television set. And you might ask yourselves, why all the T.V. talk? Well because the television has been the main source of how we get information out to the masses. But now that is rapidly going away and replacing itself with other forms of connecting to each other. But how will we use the communication?

Meaning, more and more, we will start to see augmented reality (AR). The computer generated graphics that were only in Hollywood movies, will now beach, grass, landscapebe of use to the populace. Seeing through the lens of Terminator and Robo Cop was seen as revolutionary in the 1980’s, and is coming to fruition through the creation of AR and VR (Virtual Reality). AR will be, in my opinion, better than VR. Because AR is existing in this real space with added forms of advancement. Like watching a movie from your AR headset in Central Park versus the VR, watching a movie wearing the headset at home, yet inside a theater in the virtual world.

Now, there are skeptics that feel that this form of technology will make us even more impersonal than we are now. I tend to disagree because we are more connected the more the technology advance. Pokemon Go proved how connected we are becoming. A game where people who were complete app, augmented reality, gamestrangers were connecting to each other to play the game. Other skeptics might see these advancements as a way to get in the way of daily activities. But, with the increase in innovation, people will become more active once you can incorporate the augmented world into your workout. Video games, such as first player shooter games will be all the rave. Just imagine, AR Call of Duty tournaments in Central Park.

In the end, we are reluctant to see what the future holds. You have people who are from an industrialized time period who see these advancements as a way to hurt jobs. But there is no stopping the technological advancements. You have to adjust and role with the punches. Because the change is inevitable, so get used to it. Time will always tick forward, as well as man with it. Adjust to the changes or be left behind.
