WHITE PRIVILEGE: WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN REALLY

apple, boss, business

“Living the lap of what, really.”

ideology

In the United States of social issues in America we are constantly inundated with terminology that shapes our society. And one of those terms is, “White Privilege.” But what does it truly mean here in America? Does it mean White people are afforded thew ability to do things no one else does? Does it mean White men and women are given a benefit of the doubt over other groups? Because I come from the Midwest, surrounded by poor, middle, and upper class White men and women. Men and women who grew up worse off than myself as an African American man. So lets observe what this all means.

laws

White man, not guilty; black guy, oh I know he did it. This arbitrary prevailing theory that anytime an African American is in court he/she will most likely go to jail than a White man for the same crime. And when you look statistically, it is true; Black men are far more likely to go to jail for the exact crime on average longer than his/her White male/female counterpart. Is that an aspect of the privilege argument? Well let’s see the two sides before we go any further, From the Black side I may add that court systems are comprised of mainly White judge, White Jury, and White prosecutor. So how does a Black male/female stand a chance, I should just confess even in innocence. The White individuals in the court are more likely to give the benefit of doubt to their own versus the decision to choose my fate. The White side would say, I am taking into consideration regarding his/her criminal record. I (White men and women) will give the benefit of doubt if you have a clean record. But if your rap sheet stretches around the block, you have proven you are not a productive member of society. So why would I let you off the hook.

finances

Is there a financial theory behind the White privilege argument? It doesn’t seem like it when you observe the lives of professional athletes. Who by the way are predominantly Black (NFL and NBA) and Latino (MLB). Yet these men are nowhere near a reflection of what it really is to be a member of a minority group. Because if you breakdown the average wealth of the American household, it’s nearly $50,000 for Whites, and around $10,000 for Blacks and Latinos. Could it be that White men and women have it easier? Or is there an underlying reasoning as to why Whites are holding an average number this high?

realities in all the fiction

There are realities of America, and then there are the fictional existences of our country. And yes, there are situations that exist where you have seen decision swayed to fit an agenda that has benefited the majority White community. But like I said earlier, coming from my small Midwest city, I see struggling families, not well-off families. And the reality behind White privilege is that there are people who are privileged. And for the most part they are White, but they aren’t even in the best interest of other White men and women. We all a whole community of Black and White are wrapped up in these agendas that create binds. When in reality we are in the same boat, but made to “feel” we are more different than similar.

MAKE AMERICA ________ AGAIN: WHY IS THE FEELING SO STRONG FROM A WHITE CONSERVATIVE BASE

“What is the real allure?”

2016

The presidential race between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump was a serious showdown. One for ages, you had a career politician in Hilary Clinton and a businessman with no political experience in Donald Trump. But, in the end, Donald Trump is the one who stood victoriously with the win. But there has been something that has stuck out in the election and the aftermath. And that is the surge of White voters in America behind President Trump. Does that mean he is “their” president? Or does this election win mean that the Conservative base is back where they need to be? I have a few theories as to why the White male and female base voted Trump.

the collective

During the race of President Obama, the ideology was, “Change We Believe In.” But when voters didn’t feel like they got change, it went far right. And you think to yourself, “How could that be?” How could it be that a president that so many rallied behind be this pushed against? When you look at the election between Obama and Romney, the race was quite close., unlike that ofImage result for trump voters Obama and McCain. A massive close in on the 2012 election should have been proof that a major shift was taking hold. And it was coming from the predominantly White community. Could it be the economy, foreign relations, immigration, terrorism, or health care. Either way, in 2016, the start for what would be a historic moment was about to take hold.

white males

The majority; the group who for so long dictated not only their lives, but others. And for whatever reason, now feels as if that stronghold is being lost. But let me clarify something more about this base: White male-Conservative-Heterosexual base. This base has this feeling of under attack for comments and beliefs. This is the core demographic that feels that illegal immigrants are removing what has long felt like their own. And the expectations for what a man is in society is now being determined by a feminine agenda. And Donald Trump has been seen as the answer to the problems. And if you observe how he (Trump) has carried himself in office, it appears he is catering to this longstanding base.

white females

Women for Hilary Clinton; well at least that was the ploy. But whatever the reason for Hilary running, it didn’t work because the White female base came out in large numbers to support Trump. And it really expressed something on the other side, which is doesn’t matter if a qualified woman runs; a large portion of White women would much rather have a Conservative White male in charge. Which kills the ideology that so many women hate Trump. But is all this true, or is there a lot more fear coming from a White community that really doesn’t exist.

smoke screen

What is the real threat in society? Well, the real threat is not illegal immigration, it’s technological innovation. There was a story here in New York City about a pizza delivery guy seized at a military base after he was found out to be illegal. With an open vacant pizza job, no one wanted the gig. Which is by the way, the vast majority of illegal jobs. So if you are uninterested in gigs Image result for the wall mexicolike that, you won’t do much by removing illegals. Because the jobs that are supposed to be taken by illegals are specialized jobs that are shrinking. Meaning, if Trump every illegal from America, life wouldn’t change for those behind the move. Doesn’t matter, the inevitable is taking hold, and that’s machines replacing manpower.

POST RACIAL: ARE WE REALLY AS RACIAL TODAY AS IN THE PAST

“How far are we now?”

out the past

In the recent years, we have found ourselves having the old topics of race relationships in America once again. With the introduction of our current President Donald J. Trump, people feel with his election came a sense of racial tension. Some have said he inspired the hate with rhetoric, while others feel it has always been apart of our culture. The above video is of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; a civil rights leader that fought against racial inequality, prejudice, and segregation before ultimately being assassinated in the year 1968. So how far have we really come since the the turbulent days of the mid 1950’s to late 1960’s Civil Rights Era?

2018

So out of the past we have rallies and marches still on social injustice. So what must be done to combat such issues. Because yes, marching and protesting keeps the conversation going, but what about action. What about actually making things happen as oppose to talking about it. Within the past week, we were privy to see Lebron James open the school in his hometown of Image result for lebron schoolAkron, Ohio. Where public schools are failing children, he started a school. Which will jump start young people’s lives in that city. A lot of students are African American in school districts heavily underfunded. So economics and education aids in dealing with the problems today. Yet, there is more than just education and economics that will fix this issue.

the White base

What does White America think of the recent issues that our country have been going through? Better yet, do the majority of White men and women even know or care? Because when things are not taking place in your community that is not reflective of you, does it matter? And these are just a few questions as to why it has not really been on the mouths of too many White Americans. Or another suggestion is that there are other issues to be worried about. I live in the Midwest, and there is this prevailing thought that White Americans have all this money. But coming from this region of the country, so many are struggling economically. They are just not concerned with social issues. Are White men and women, if at all responsible for combating racial tension on their end, or just focus on themselves. Especially if they are racist themselves.

A LOSING GROUP, OR SOMETHING LIKE IT: WHAT HAVE THE WHITE POPULATION REALLY LOST?

Image result for tiki torch march

“Seems more about control than identity.”

White Nationalist, Neo-Nazi, KKK, Alt-Right, skinheads; whatever you want to call them. There have been this idea that the White population is losing out here in America. Do I personally believe the hype when I look at the social, economic, political, and educational gaps, no. But I am a man who looks at things in life from a very practical stance. So in order for me to argue against the point of what a White man has lost, let’s look at the perspective of the man upset. This is where there is this uncomfortable feeling because I know it’s ridiculous. The White man’s unfair history in America, but nonetheless, I am taking a firm observation of what could be seen as lost. So, here goes nothing.

The United States gained its Independence from Great Britain in 1776, and the Constitution was drafted up in 1788. During this entire time, the men who sat around the table making the decisions for the future direction of the country were all White males. The Declaration and the Constitution were supposed to be affirmation that this land belonged to the American Whites, well those in a much higher position, and everyone else would be taking the lead of them. United States Declaration of Independence.jpgSo with the ending of slavery in 1865, which was a result of Abraham Lincoln signing the Emancipation Proclamation, there was now a new shift in America. Now, these men and women who were once property, were now in a position to work, vote, and attain education. A move that a lot of White men and women deemed a setback to their own progress.

You might ask, how so? Well, even the poorest of White men and women still had the upper hand over Black people during that time in America. This was not done to make them feel this was their country, it was done to keep a tightly knit system together. Those White Image result for jim crowmen and women making decisions didn’t care about the poorest of White people just as much as they didn’t care about Black people. Yet, in keeping with that tightly knit system, Jim Crow came out of slavery ending. Now what’s interesting, is that outside of the South, a lot of people never really knew the lengths to which Jim Crow had a certain fear instilled in a group of people. But nonetheless, it allowed even the poorest and uneducated White men and women a position over their Black counterparts.

Jim Crow held on for nearly 100 years until Black people felt pushed to a point of nothing to lose. The Civil Rights Movement had started earlier, but the height of the movement during the 1950’s and 1960’s saw a threat once again to that White establishment of control. Related imageNow don’t get me wrong, there were quite a few White men and women who fought with the movement and some even died themselves. Yet there was still a loud voice coming from the White community regarding ending Jim Crow. Jim Crow eventually ended, yet the fight did not and has not stopped. Which leads us until today. Now there are these conversations again from White men and women on what has been lost.

Now, that I have done a brief overview of American history. Here is what has alleged to be lost. Jobs are being taken from Whites. Wrong, corporations have removed these jobs and taken them overseas to save pennies, by other White men and women in power. Education is being high-jacked from White men and women. Wrong, as a matter of fact the Black community are constantly pushing ways to get more of our children to go to school each year. Foreigners are being accepted into top Ivy League schools, but not pushing out Whites. More so being accepted by predominantly White institutions by White people. Well, what about voices not being heard. Well, yet again not true. When Trump won, there was a large population of White conservatives who voted not just him, but a whole system of White right leaning men.

And that’s what brings me to the real aspect of what could be lost. See, former president Barack H. Obama lead this nation for 8 years. People say he caused this mass hysteria, but not true. See, the relationship Image result for barack obamabetween Black and White in America has been one of a dog owner and dog. We love our dogs because they obey us. We give them a treat and they roll over and perform tricks. That’s until dogs start to demand the same treatment as the owner. Now the owner remembers a time when you had to roll over and fetch treats. And that feeling is now gone and being lost. Because White people still lead the pack in wealth, education, politics, and the list goes on. But what is a feeling of going away is control, and to add to it, competition.

And in the end, that is the fear that is slowly being exposed. See, America created this superiority mind frame in a group of people. And superiority is not only a supreme view of self, but ultimate control over someone or groups of people. And when the command is not followed, there must be punishment. Yet the underlying issue with the word superior, is the control factor. People don’t aim at trying to control dogs because we are more superior than the dog. A dog can’t build a nuke, a dog can’t shoot a gun, or fist fight. So we have nothing to fear, let them run wild because a cute little treat will calm them. But when a group is made to feel superior and that construct is broken down they feel worthless. Which is why this ideology of an all White America is actually ridiculous. Because superiority extends itself to control and commands. Without a minority group serving as a buffer in the middle, slowly but surely that control and command turns on itself. America has created a problem for itself, and will just have to deal with the fact that a psychological ugliness was designed to control, not just minorities, but White people as well.
