FUTURE TELEVISION: HOW TELEVISION HAS CHANGED OVER TIME

“Where are we going?”

it sure has changed

From when my mother was a child, to me, to now; television has changed a lot over the past 50 years. When my mother was young she said there only a few channels on television because so much was on the radio. But when I became a child, there were well over 100 hundred, plus the emergence of the internet. But today, there is so much programming that we have to catch everything on our phones or tablets. Now, if you missed your favorite show, who cares, you can watch it on your portable device. And that is the full change of television. Which is why purchasing a T.V. is so cheap today.

where are we going

Imagine a world where no matter where you go, you put on your glasses, press a button, and out pops the screen. You can literally watch a movie that no one else is seeing but you. Your boring subway commute or that long time spent in a traffic jam won’t be so bad after all. Ok, ok, maybe not driving your car unless you’re a passenger, but you get where I’m going. The ability to stay connected might actually boost the ratings for television shows. Because we think a television is an actually product for watching moving images, but television is a telecommunication medium. That is a very wide range of meanings.

impersonal or more personal

People seem to think that there is a lost of connection the more digital we become. When in reality, we are becoming more connected as a species. Especially if the augmented reality and virtual reality starts to get better and better. We will find ourselves in a type of world that we live out our dreams as an escape from the daily grind. We’re always looking fora distraction from the hardships of life. Augmented reality will become a great medium for entertainment, while virtual reality will become a great place for getting away. Imagine a virtual world of lying on the beach. You can take a vacation to a place you might be able to afford, but can enjoy it.

THROUGH SIMILAR EYES: HOW WILL THE FUTURE LOOK TO MY GENERATION IN OLD AGE

Woman Standing Beside Woman on White Wooden Chair Facing Body of Water

“What will tomorrow through my eyes look like compared to them today?”

You ever wonder what the world looks like through the eyes of a person whose been on Earth a very long time? And when I say long, I mean someone who is in their 90’s or even 100 years old. My great grandmother was born near the turn of the century in the early 1900’s. And to be exact, it was 1914; so I wonder what did life look to her around the time of her getting close to 90. SheImage result for 20th century died in the year 2010, and that must have been some intense life. The politicians she witnessed take office, the multiple ways in which we communicate, the social movements, and the way technology has made leaps and bounds. So I ask of all those millennials out there like me, “What will life look like to those of us who make it to that point in life?”

Just this past week, I had the opportunity to test a VR (virtual reality) headset that someone I know designed. And just by observing through this headset, you can feel how much life is going to change once the technology is really to scale. You’ll get a chance to experience life in the past through the use of this headset. Related imageMeaning, technology will be so good that we can recreate moments of the past and live them through these innovative machines. Not just the technology, but what will the state of relationships look like by this time. If I live to 90 to 100 years old, you are going to have people who have been married for 40, 50, and 60 years who met on Tinder or some other dating site. It sounds crazy today, but will be totally fine in the future. Members of the LGBTQ community raising children and adopting will be a non-conversation point. And I will be of a generation that has experienced what we read about in books.

That means I will be old enough to have gotten a chance to vote for America’s first Black president. Which most likely by this time will have been so much of an after thought that the conversation will be archaic. I will have remembered when the White House was illuminated in the rainbow colors to mark the day when gays had the right to vote. I will remember events that took place that rocked the country such as September 11th terror attacks and even Image result for 9/11the Oklahoma City bombing which claimed the lives of so many young children. Natural disasters such as Hurricane Andrew, Katrina, and Sandy. I will be one of the last generations born in the decades known as the 1980’s and the generations born who remember the 1900’s as a century in time. I will even remember the first social media ways in which we first started to communicate. Meaning, I will be the last of the age group who remember when the internet was created for the public.

In the end, living on this planet for a long time gives you a sense of understanding about civilizations that no one else has experienced. What everyone else had to read about, you lived through and witnessed. So you will become almost like a form of entertainment for people to come and ask questions. People will also on average live longer, so there will be more centennials than any other time period. Now I can’t guarantee that I will be that age upon death, but what a time a Earth that must be to experience so much in life.

INTO THE FUTURE: WHAT WILL THE FUTURE OF SOCIETY HOLD FOR US ALL

astronaut, future, kosmonaut

“The mistakes of the past will hopefully be corrected in the future.”

Throughout our lives, we always wonder what the future holds for all of us. And we often look back at how technology looked, and how we thought it was so ingenuous. But today it looks so dated that we laugh about how cheap it looks to us. That’s because what we have at the moment is so advanced compared to what we used to have in the past. So, 10 years from now, I wonder what will
Image result for 1999 internetlook dated to us. Or better yet, 20 years from now, what will look odd that we thought was so great. And I am not even talking about something on a high level, I’m speaking of search engines. I wonder how will they change over time. Or will there be something more virtual that will aid us in searching out information.

Today, we are advancing more and more the use of AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) into our lives. Virtual reality still looks nice, yet pretty generic to us. And we usually use the two so far for video games and small simulation uses. But as time progress, AR and VR will so widely used in education, which will most likely increase the average student GPA. Image result for ar and vrNow in my opinion, the GPA of students initially using the technology will be higher than the students using it later. Early use creates a lot of intrigue, but once it is the standard, you ‘ll see a status quo of average students. Same with AR, which I think will be just as good for education, but more important of business use. People like doctors, engineers, architects, and scientist will be able to perform their jobs more swiftly.

And if the future continues to progress with increase in technological innovation, what will this mean for politics. Because Facebook has been pivotal in the campaigning of presidents in the United States. Barack Obama’s campaigns were both heavily pushed via social media as well our current president Donald J. Trump. Image result for future votingYou’ll start to be able to track other country’s leaders as well. And what will happen in addition is a more global system and moving toward fewer and fewer countries. You’ll start to notice nations beginning to merge, bringing on surprisingly more conflict. Because with diversity comes so many different ideologies in one given space. I think that there will be fewer wars, but more smaller isolated conflicts. Religion will start to decline, more people will rely on self-motivation than the need of a deity. I see us knowing so much about ourselves that we initially become depressed because all we see is this on Earth and no afterlife. But as more time progress it will become the norm.

In the end, the changes will be drastically different, but a sense of normalcy will still exist. And when I think about the future, I mean by the time I get to my middle age years of 50 years old in 20 years, hopefully greatness follows. Once technology starts to really advance, the population could decrease because manpower is less important and society is more expensive to dwell. Meaning, a rate of poverty also declines, and we have more food to feed the people alive. People will also live longer, on average today is 78, closer to 100 in 20 years. So, let me ask you, what do you think the future holds?

AUGMENTED REALITY: HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE THE WORLD AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Image result for augmented reality

“In a world that is beyond our world.”

Technological innovation has been pushing the bar for decades. Yet as we look back at what was supposed to be the hot items, they are so generic looking now. Especially compared to the great products that are hitting the market in today’s society. We look at the past and say to ourselves, “Wow, that looks Grey Vintage Crt Tvawful.” “I remember when that was the in product that everyone wanted.” But it’s not an awful product, it’s just that the innovation to technology has made such leaps and bounds. I look at televisions in just my lifetime. The picture quality of a television in the past for what I thought was incredible, looks dated now. So what does the future hold?

And when I say what the future holds for us, how will we communicate in the future through various forms of mass communication. Because we already don’t use televisions like we once did. Now, our cell phones and laptops have replaced live television. It seems odd sometimes when I turnSpace Gray Iphone 6 on the television set. And you might ask yourselves, why all the T.V. talk? Well because the television has been the main source of how we get information out to the masses. But now that is rapidly going away and replacing itself with other forms of connecting to each other. But how will we use the communication?

Meaning, more and more, we will start to see augmented reality (AR). The computer generated graphics that were only in Hollywood movies, will now beach, grass, landscapebe of use to the populace. Seeing through the lens of Terminator and Robo Cop was seen as revolutionary in the 1980’s, and is coming to fruition through the creation of AR and VR (Virtual Reality). AR will be, in my opinion, better than VR. Because AR is existing in this real space with added forms of advancement. Like watching a movie from your AR headset in Central Park versus the VR, watching a movie wearing the headset at home, yet inside a theater in the virtual world.

Now, there are skeptics that feel that this form of technology will make us even more impersonal than we are now. I tend to disagree because we are more connected the more the technology advance. Pokemon Go proved how connected we are becoming. A game where people who were complete app, augmented reality, gamestrangers were connecting to each other to play the game. Other skeptics might see these advancements as a way to get in the way of daily activities. But, with the increase in innovation, people will become more active once you can incorporate the augmented world into your workout. Video games, such as first player shooter games will be all the rave. Just imagine, AR Call of Duty tournaments in Central Park.

In the end, we are reluctant to see what the future holds. You have people who are from an industrialized time period who see these advancements as a way to hurt jobs. But there is no stopping the technological advancements. You have to adjust and role with the punches. Because the change is inevitable, so get used to it. Time will always tick forward, as well as man with it. Adjust to the changes or be left behind.
