LEVEL TO LEVEL: HOW GOING FROM ONE SOCIOECONOMIC POSITION TO ANOTHER FORCES A NEW PERCEPTION

Related image

“Once you know better, you do better.”

I come from a socioeconomic environment known as the working poor. And I have been in his space for my entire life. But in the recent years, I have been working to remove myself form this space of poverty. And what does that mean, it simply means changing your perception in how you see the world around you. Once that perception changes about the world, new opportunities open up to you. Now in the beginning, it may seem like you’re not making any strides. But rest assured, if you’re putting in the time and energy necessary for the climb, then you are in position to do better in life. You are in position to do better financially, physically, and spiritually. Yet, what is it about people that never leave their position and why must you change the way you see the world? People not leaving their position has to do with a state of mind, but why you must change your perception has to do with understanding the repercussions of your actions.

What do I mean by the consequences of my actions? Well, once you cross over into the new socioeconomic environment, you have no choice but to shift your perception. And there is a reason, it’s because you had to shift your perception before getting to this new point. So if you grew up poor, you had no choice but to change to become Middle Class and stay in the middle. Now, here is the bit of hole in the logic I just stated. You have to shift your mind to make more money, not really. Because you have lottery winners, athletes, and entertainers. Now the lotto winner won by luck, but there had to be some form of shift to be great athletes and entertainers, but the monetary build really falls by the waist side. So when they make a lot of money, they go broke quicker than it took to get the money. Because they fail to put themselves in the know to shift their perception on money.

Now once you go from Middle Class to Upper Class, you have to really structure your mind. The way I see it, it’s like crossing a bridge. The poor person says, “I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.” The person in the middle says, “I’ll plan for that bridge, even if it’s there, I still plan in case it’s not present.” And lastly, the man or woman that is rich are the ones building the bridges everyone beneath them are going to have to cross. So when you are making wealth for yourself, taking business advice from someone who is poor may not be the best decision to make in life. Because if were as simple as they think it is to make money, they wouldn’t be poor. They might say it’s because they don’t have money, and that statement explains why they’re poor. You don’t need money if you have great ideas that have value. You’ll get the money if you have something that can make money. Why, someone will invest in you.

And in the end, we have to shift our perceptions anyways with regards to the world around us. People who don’t, possess a lack of growth in their lives. That lack of growth will quickly turn into self-loathing and depression. Next, they’ll start to reject the people around them who have went off into life and planned. Remove yourself from these people because they mean you no good.

PERSONAL PERCEPTION: HOW YOUR PEERS SEE YOU VERSUS HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF

“You’re never who they think you are.”

We all have this idea of how someone sees us in life. But how can you be for certain if people actually like you or if they are just putting on airs to get in good with you. Because you are never the person you are to you as you are with others. No matter how much you try to convey that you are someone else, they see you as something else. So which one is right; their perception of you or your perception of you? Well, this depends on the image you project outward to people. Sometimes how people see you is on the basis on what you show them. If you show them this person that you’re not, then they’ll believe in what you show them. And what’s crazy is that no matter how much you tell them you are different, they’re still going to believe the person that they have come to know the longest. But then there is the other side of things.

You have people who view you in a light that has nothing to do with what you show them, but who they think you should be in life. And if you want to see how someone really views you, then ask them to introduce you to someone on a date. You will get a full idea of what they think of you. From the physical aspects of who they introduce you to, to the mental conversation the person has on a date. After the date, you should make it your business to meet the person you want to date. Then once you do meet the person, bring them around the people who had a hand in hooking you up on a date. They had the person they wanted you to be with, and they might grow to resent you because you have more than what they felt you deserved. This is how you find out who your true friends are and how they really feel about you.

Like I said earlier, you’re never to others who you are to yourself. What is it that would make a person feel like you don’t deserve the person you want to date? Because people feel that based off their own inner workings, they observe you. And to them, you fall into an equation somewhere below where they stand. So if you exceed the expectations of what they feel you deserve they have to evaluate two ideas in their mind. Number one, they are not as smart as they thought they were at pin-pointing a friend, and you as the successful friend makes them feel mediocre. But instead of figuring out a way to move away from the mediocrity, they want to stifle your growth. So in the end, be prepared in life to lose people that are not meant to be in your life. Not everyone is, and that could even extend into family.

MINDLESS MINDFRAME: HOW LEAVING YOUR SMALL TOWN MAY BE FOR THE BEST

Image result for mind

“When you think big and they think small.”

Do you come from a small city or town? Are the people where this place exist carry a certain mind frame that causes you to disconnect from them? Me myself, I come from one of these type of places. The city is a place you probably never heard of, and a population of only 78,000 people. A lot of the younger generation continues to still move away. And the population is still continuing to fall as time progress. Well, why is that? Why are the people leaving this seemingly quiet town. Well, first and foremost, the jobs have left. What was once a thriving Midwest manufacturing city has been reduced to vacant factory buildings. But another reason is because of the thought process of the people.

You probably ask, what makes it tough to live in some of these types of places. For starters, people have a hard time seeing past their current situation. To them, this is it, and there is nothing past this. And not just in a negative I am a failure way. But also in a manner where whatever is the well-known organization to work for, people flock to it like it’s working for Goldman Sachs. People walk around like this place to work for is the greatest and if you can’t get a job here, you must not be worth hiring. It’s like, “I’m a supervisor over at this place.” It’s about levels, as with anywhere else in society. Yet the level is not a real level. They are sharks in a pond, but when but in a bigger city, they become clown fish in the ocean. But what is another reason to leave your small city/town?

Another is how people look at the world as it pertains to the social landscape. I was walking down the street here in New York City, and a guy had on a baseball cap. The logo was of the Confederate Flag, and in addition he sported some sunglasses. And judging by the way he was carrying himself, he thought he was making a statement. Almost as if he wanted to say, “All these others are afraid to express themselves.” “But I’m going to be me in this overly liberal environment.” And sense the language is so sensitive, he thought people would react. Because he probably watched protest in NYC on television and figured he’d express himself. Yet no one told him on a daily basis that no one pays much attention to you. But his lack of knowledge made him look like a loser in his hat. Because he just watched TV like Fox News or CNN, and that’s how he based his perception of a liberal city.

Other reasons you have to make moves from these places is because few people have a sense of vision. People look at you and say, “No one from this small town is doing that.” And if you attempt, people will try to bring you down so you have to leave. They will be afraid of your progress surpassing them. And they think they know you because whatever family you came from as well. Kind of like, “Oh, that’s so and so’s kid.” “I been knowing his family, they up to no good, he must be as well.” So you have to go to a city where no one knows or think they know your family. This way you can start from scratch and represent yourself. And in the end, that’s the just of moving. There is a mind frame that people define as comfortable, which keeps them from growing and you as well if you stay. But lastly, don’t move elsewhere thinking your life will change. Because you have to think different yourself.

THE KNOW: HOW POVERTY IS MORE OF A MIND FRAME THAN MONEY

Related image

“Getting out, does not guarantee you’ll stay out.”

As a young man, I grew up under the poverty level here in the United States. Now, if you would have told me that at a young age, I would not have believed you. But once I became an adult, I decided to look back and research how much money my mother made on her job. And for a single
Related imageparent household making the income that my mother made, we were classified as an impoverished family. Yet, we always had food, clothing, and a roof over our heads. Little did I know, that my mother was one rainy day, one sick day, one bad break away from us being homeless. So is poverty about money alone or is it a mind frame?

I come from a family of poor people. And it’s generational poverty; whereas my mother and father were poor, their parents were poor, and so forth. As a matter of fact, my family on both mother and father side have been poor since slavery in America. So for well over 200 years of American history, we Related imagehave lived through poverty. Understandably so how we could have in the past given the historical accounts; both slavery and Jim Crow. And we can also point to other social-economic policies aimed at certain ethnic groups in certain communities. But that aim was mainly to aid White communities, and Black neighborhoods. Now, a large portion of White men and women are suffering.

So is it still about race, yes and no. I feel race can be used, yet it’s bigger than that today. The struggle is real and everyone is feeling it. So how, how do you bring yourself out of poverty? And my theory is that poverty is more than just not having money. It’s about knowing how money work and how Related imageyour money work. And that requires putting yourself in the know. And the know is whatever it is you’re seeking to accomplish in this world. For example, professional athletes make it financially out of poverty, yet their minds are still in poverty. So the majority of them wind-up broke after playing professional sports. Why, well because they don’t know anything about money.

Athletes are beneficiaries of the lottery effect , where they get overnight wealth. And lack of knowledge places them back into poverty. A lot of Americans don’t understand how, but more of them would do the same. Image result for lottoBecause it’s not only spending habits that land them back into poverty, it’s financial investors and managers mismanaging funds. So what about the American who does not get their start in sports/entertainment? Where do they look first when trying to overcome their struggle? And the tough question is, there is no one place to look. You have to adopt a certain mind frame for finding and making an income; as well as retaining a standard of living.

And in the end, that’s something that people cannot grasp hold of; the mind frame. You can’t teach it, and you can’t fully learn. You just have to have a mind that is built to understand how to put yourself in a know space. ThereRelated image will always be people giving you a blueprint. But you’re not supposed to just runaway with it, more so, you should be using it to build your own vision. Their blueprint is just a basic template to get you started. Yet people at times are even offset by the blueprint of another person. And often will reject you for offering the blueprint. Nonetheless, this getting out of poverty game is psychological. And if the mind is not right, neither will be your standard of living.

VISION BOARD: WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN TIME

blueprint, brainstorming, bulb

“It’s not guaranteed to work, but keeps you on track.”

We all close our eyes and contemplate where we would like to see ourselves in the future. Now getting to that point is a lot harder than the vision. So what do we have to do, we have to create a vision board for where we would like to see ourselves in the future. Once again, writing down the visions is quite simple, but getting to the point where you are living out the vision is difficult. So why even create a vision board? If it’s not some sure fire guarantee, what’s the purpose of doing so. The purpose is that it keeps you on track toward the goal in life you are seeking to accomplish.

Let’s say you would like to run your own business. This is where vision boards are very necessary. Simply because you have to project outward how well your business could potentially perform. So you have no other choice Close-up of Text on Woodbut to think of the future when doing so. You have to calculate projections 3 – 6 months, 6 – 12 months, and even years out. If you your business is in order then you’re going to reach your visions. And that’s how you accomplish your vision in business. Keep the business end in tact and moving forward, then your vision will formulate. But business is not the only vision one has in life.

What about the plans you have for buying a house. We have this image of a house in mind that we would like to purchase. But how are we going to attain that house that we want. One way to get that house is by first starting White Painted House Under Orange Skyout buying a smaller home. Invest in a starter, maybe a fixer-upper and work from there. You’re most likely not going to live in your dream house as your first residence unless you go pro in a sport at a young age. The average Joe will have to first buy a starter home. Or you might even have to buy a condo to start with until you build to the point where you have your dream house.

Another need to build yourself a vision board is in regards to paying off debts. We see ourselves being financially set by a certain age. But we don’t quite know how to get to that point in life. So how do we create ourselves aadministration, analytics, businessvision board for that time when we are debt free? One way is to set aside a certain amount of money that will be strictly used for paying off bills. Stick to this plan and you will still be young when you are done paying off your debts.

In the end, a vision board is very necessary in keeping yourself on track to where you want to be in life. There is still no guarantee, but if you don’t at least write it down and work at sticking to your goal, you will not get to it. You will have this vision, but getting there becomes tough or even impossible because there is no real direction. It’s just a vision. I have been on track with my own vision board for the past 7 years. I am giving myself 10 years to break into my career field. And with everyday that I awake, I see myself getting closer and closer to attaining my goals.

NEARSIGHTED GOALS: WHY SOME CAN ONLY SEE WHAT’S IN FRONT OF THEM

Image result for NEARSIGHTED

“Is it hard for you to see your potential future?”

Many of us can only see what’s in front us in life. We have a place where we want to be in life, yet we can only see what is in front of us. Everything in the distant appears to be blurry. But if we keep on working at what it is we’re doing, the far fetched place we want to be is not far away. So, what is it, what is it that keeps us fro stepping out into the world? What is it that makes us only see the now and not the future. I myself am very optimistic, yet I have even second guessed myself. So why do we do it to ourselves?

One of the reasons we do it to ourselves is because in order to see the light at the end of the tunnel you have to envision it. Reminds me of a quote by Hellen Keller, “I would have rather been born blind and than to have sight and lack vision.” This is a killer of a lot of people because the vision is blurry for the simple fact that it is either not a real vision or not mean’t for you. We have these idealistic ways of looking at the world. Which is fine, but it must be filtered through the scope of reality. Have a vision for where you want to be, but don’t let it be someone else’s vision. Too often we let others tell us what we should be doing in life. When asked how should I do this and this and that, they say, “I don’t know, figure it out.” You’re taking advice from someone who really don’t know you.

Another reason we only see what’s in front of us is because we have to survive in the moment. And if you’re just trying to figure out how to survive today, it’s hard to see tomorrow or even a few weeks up the road. You just want to be good in the moment. And think about tomorrow when tomorrow comes. Only this form of thinking is very damaging and has long term effects.  If you’re only living in the moment and not tomorrow, then tomorrow comes and you’re in a bind, then what? Or better yet you don’t think about ten years from now, then ten years goes by and you say to yourself, “If only I had of started then, where would I be now?”

And here is where people go wrong with their lives. Because they usually say this to themselves when they are still young. For instance, you might see some 30 or 31 year who is very successful because they started at age 20 or 21 years of age. But here you are at age 30 and you are measuring where you are with their success. Reality is that a lot of people start getting their lives together at 30 years of age. So by the time they are 40 years they are comfortable financially. But resentment keeps them from getting there once they give in young. Big mistake.

In the end, you have to have more vision to be where you want to be in life. If you are not where you want, then talk it up. Work on it, and talk into existence. Like I said before on previous posts, your thoughts turn into actions. And if thoughts are not directed in a positive space, it will prolong your success in life.

VISION: WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF

Image result for VISION

“Ever get upset because they don’t know quite like you know?”

It’s tough when you close your eyes and you see that something. That something in life that no one else sees but you. It’s tough because a vision is only seen by the person and no one else until there is an execution of the vision. Ever go to sleep and wake up with an explanation of what you dreamt about? People look you in the face and have that confused stare. In your mind you see a vivid fantasy world, but to them you just sound utterly ridiculous. So why? Why is it so hard for the people around you, or even the people you try to convince in society to invest in you and your vision?

For starters, people want to know that you are serious about your craft. The dominant society could care less because to them you’re just another young man or woman with a pipe dream. They ignore because we all know that most won’t attempt to execute the plan. It will wind-up being some distraction that allows people to continue to go through life existing. And existing is easier than executing because there is less risk of failure and heartache. Which is another reason it’s hard for people to recognize your vision. They know that most will give up and quit from the level of difficulty.

Which brings us to the next reason why it’s hard for people to see your vision. All talk and no movement. Most people talk a good game, but then it’s time to execute, its a totally different ball game. Sitting in front of people sharing all these visions is easy when you’re actually putting in the work. Talking it up is good and everything, but what about the time put into the project. That’s when the excuses start to arise. “You see, I have to work.” “I need it to be perfect.” Its like what are you waiting for, winning the lottery. Create something, anything to give people an insight into what you’re trying to do in life. But we all know in the end you were never going to do it anyways. Something like I said before, keeping you distracted from your daily existence.

But there is another side to the vision not being seen by others. There is the hate you receive because someone does not possess the talents you do. To a degree, we know some true talent when we see it. And if someone has traveled down your road and it didn’t work for them, they will give you all the reasons not to yourself. It’s almost as if they are silently saying, “I tried it, and I know I’m better than you.” “And if it didn’t work for me, I know you’re not going to perform well.” These are people who are the result of not having the it factor they thought they possessed. They thought in their minds, I know I’m great, but it didn’t quite pan out that way. So the taste of soar grapes fill the inside of their mouths just hearing you explain your vision.

This brings me to my last reason why it’s so hard for others to see your vision. Why is it so hard? Because maybe, just maybe you’re not that good at what you are doing. There was a famous quote by Helen Keller where she stated, “I would have rather to have been born blind than to have sight and lack vision. Everything in our minds sound great, but what about to the masses. I challenge you to create something. Then put it out there for the world to consume. Most people can’t deal with the rejection, requiring them to go back and get better. That’s at times what they need is to get better. But the ego gets in the way and leads to the demise of their potential growth.

In the end, we all just want someone to believe in us. Believe in whatever it is that motivates us to wake up each and every day. That thing, that burning feeling, that internal sensation that gets us going. That felling when you can see it, taste, and now all you have to do know is touch it. But that vision most often must be cultivated and grown by not just you, but people willing to invest in your ideas. My advice, start small, work it, and rework; then rework it, and rework some more. And once you’ve done that rework it some more. Because a vision, without the combination of consistency and a lack of clear goals lead to resentment. Ultimately it will manifest itself in how you see yourself and how you live your life.
