UPLOADING MEMORIES: WILL THERE BE A WAY TO REPLICATE PEOPLE’S EXISTENCE

Green Ram Card Collection

“Uploading Memory.”

saved data

A day will come where all of our memories will be able to be accessed and used to keep an aspect of us going throughout society. Meaning a Stephen Hawking brain could really benefit the world after he is dead with holding on to his intellect. That would mean technology to scale from the likes our planet has never seen. Accessing all the data of the mind of some of our smartest so that we can have an advantage as a nation. And with so much brain power, what could a nation do with such information for its infrastructure?

opportunities

A Henry Ford comes along and is born into this country. Or better yet a Steve Jobs is born and we want his mind to continue. Imagine if we could have kept everything that Jobs did and managed to keep Apple going the same as if he had never left. You’re talking technology rolling out year after year from the vault of Jobs. And since we have everything he wrote down, we could compile this information to build his ideas the same way he would have built them. The uncertainty of where a company is heading after someone as important as him dies wouldn’t be lingering over the heads of the organization’s leaders. But is there a more sinister aspect of the technology?

sick twisted system

Manipulation is the main reason why something like this will be halted for a very long time. You would need a large scale oversight into the matter because not everyone is born equal. Some people just have that thing others don’t. So can you imagine a mundane thinker accessing the data of a genius and building their own futures off the backs of someone else. Or better yet, our government laying claim to the mind of this person for their own benefit. That means your family member that died is now property of the government to be used however they please. And who is to also say that someone won’t try to kill you for your mind. Because you are now worth more dead than alive.

reality is reality

This will be something of the future, but in a different context. I don’t know hat the context will be, but the information of people will be left behind because we document so much today. And it will be for more research purposes if anything.

YOUR VISION NOT ANYONE ELSE’S: WHY THEY DON’T BELIEVE IN YOU

company, concept, creative

“Don’t expect them to believe in you.”

Someone I work with today was informing me that they have had enough and it was time to pursue their purpose. They were about the quite work and embark on their journey to their own personal greatness. It struck me as odd because this was a person who worked a lot, but now they were quitting. But I am embarking on my own journey, and I don’t know what road it will take me down. And that’s when it hit me, I don’t know this person’s inner workings. Maybe they feel that they have it figured out and things are finally making sense inside of their heads. The pieces are starting to come together and everything is working out for the best. But what is it about the people who don’t see your vision? They can not see you past what you are in the moment, and it takes them longer. Sometimes they never turn around, and only live to see you falter.

The reason being is that they may now have passions of their own, or they might not want to see you above them. If you are working a dead-end job and someone is above you, why would they want to see you prevail in life. They might hate their job just as much as you hate yours, but at least they have the upper hand over you. What happens when you overshoot the runaway of what they expected. Your airplane was never supposed to have made it out of the gate. But you have managed to fly off the runway and into the sky. So much so that you are cruising at altitude while they are still at the terminal watching you soar in the air. And that is when it sinks into their head that they must try to say something, anything to get you to stop working.

Because if they give you the confidence to keep pushing, then what is there out here for them. And that’s when you learn that there are people who look at life in the scope of their failures is your success. If you doing so much and they are not where you are, then what does that say about them. So they have to bring you down a few pegs. But if your life is in so much of a wrecked place, do something about it. Don’t try to bring someone else down because you have not landed on your feet. You are not where you thought you would be by now, so in an attempt to not feel alone, you want to keep them where you are in life. This also falls into the whole crabs in a barrel mentality. You are fine by me, so long as we all are stuck in this one place together. And that’s when you have to make moves to separate yourself.

Because in the end, your personal growth is your growth. It’s not up to you to help another adult figure out their stuff in life. You are responsible for your own problems. So as you pursue your dreams, don’t listen to the crowd noise. Your main goal should be to try to tape into the minds of those that love and respect your vision. You are going to always have adversaries, that’s the nature of the game. Just as long as you meet your expectations, that’s all that truly matters.

MEGA CITIES: HOW THE AMERICAN LANDSCAPE WILL CHANGE OVER TIME

Related image

“The exodus within a civilization.”

In the future to come, we know that the United States will take on a major cultural shift. But what about the geographical shift that will take hold. Over the next few decades we’re going to see the country move in a direction that is in more alignment with our major cities getting bigger and the small cities and towns shrinking. The reason being is that younger generation are leaving small towns and older generations are dying.  So places with populations like New York City with a metropolitan population of close to 30 million people could see itself rising to as much as 60 – 70 million people. This will cause the wealth will be highly centralized in these bigger cities. Places like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, and Washington D.C. could be our new mega cities. Cities that will be nothing but high rises.

But on the other hand, what could this do to the social landscape of America? In New York city, there are so many people of so many different ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds, people tend to have conflict. It’s easy to say diversity, but with diversity comes so many other challenges. And not to mention the educational aspects of how America will shift. These universities that consist of 30,000; 40,000; and some 50,000 students could climb into the six figure range. And with the cost of college increasing, maybe in some of these mega cities the cost could decline because of the highly populated numbers already bringing money into institutions. Or , the fact that mega cities exist might make people want to go into the smaller areas for college. There are other issues associated with these mega cities as well.

Well, crime for starters; on top of the already criminal element in these major cities. You will see people moving in that are new to the cities, who want to establish themselves in the criminal underworld. So now there will be an influx of law enforcement because we could see the criminals coming into the landscape. And on top of that, the poverty could increase because with technology moving to scale, now you have a less need for human labor. Coincidentally, this is an aspect of life prompting people to move to major cities in the beginning. Now that people are already here, there is this new element of poverty. So people will basically leave poverty in search of a better life, ending up in even worse poverty. But with all the problems, what would be the benefits of having these major mega cities, a lot.

In the end, there are a lot; a whole lot of opportunities to utilize land more. In America, with these mega cities, you will have more room for growth of crops for harvest because so much American land is not utilized. We could see ourselves becoming exporters once again. We could also see these major cities as a way to monitor more of what is going on in our country. With so many citizens living in one area, and fewer outside, then the ability to contain major problems is efficient. Also, with so many people in one area you’re getting the best of everyone, creating more innovative ideas, which could ultimately grow the country at a much higher scale than now.

GENERATION FAST TRACK: HOW THIS NEW SOCIAL MEDIA ERA IS RUINING A GENERATION’S DRIVE

“In a fast paced world, with long term success.”

Google, Yahoo, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tinder, and way more. We are the generation that is used to instant gratification. You type it, it pops up in less than a few seconds. And if we just so happen to get a 15 second commercial clip we get antsy. And this behavior has to do with so Image result for social mediamuch moving so fast in today’s society. But when it comes to other areas of life, time seems to stand still. And there are two areas of interest where you don’t receive instant gratification: building a successful career and maintaining a successful monogamous relationship. These are two of the most important aspects of adulthood, and two of the hardest to tackle.

Yet, we struggle so much with the idea of having to build so long. Why does it take so long to build a career? For starters, initially, you’re building experience in the field of interest. Our generation wants someone to show us, kind of like working at a fast food restaurant. Then once we learn, we can start making Related imagethe big bucks. But it doesn’t quite work like that; you need more time. So you might think, what time, 6 months, 1 year? No, you should probably take close to 10 years of learning. And that’s when the onset of stress and depression set in. So much of your life is about in the now, that you hear 10 years and say to yourself, forget it. But 10 years is nothing when trying to build a career. As a matter of fact, I’m actually being nice when I say 10 years.

Nice! Yes, nice; it’s more like 15 to 20 years, maybe even close to 20. That’s why it’s best to start young and build. This way, hopefully, you’re still young by the time your career takes off. Then again, when you see someone young doing the things you want to do, you get discouraged. But you don’t know when they started. They could have started at age 19 years old, and are now Image result for GROWTH30/31 years old. We tend to look at the now, and say what you could have been. Don’t regret, you’re still young at 30 yourself, and you will be at 40 years of age. But so many see those who are what they could have been had they have started early. But now, they resent not working at what they want. Big mistake, you’re still young, start now.

But even with all I have written, what about relationships. With so many apps geared toward meeting someone and hoping up in just a matter of hours, no wonder good relationship are so hard to come by. How do we maintain a relationship when so much is based around a quick one hour encounter. But then you look at people who have been married for 25, 30, Related image40, 50, and some more years. And you ask yourself, “How did they make it that far?” Well, they made it that far because there was no rush when they first met. There was trial and error where people learned along the way. Now, there is no trial and error; if you screw up, you’re gone. Why, well there are more options today.

If the generations before us thought the way we do about relationships, I could only imagine what the state of relationships would look like today. There was a courting process in the past that involved not only you getting to know your partner, but the family you were marrying into. Now, it’s meet you today, sleep with you tomorrow, meet your family next week, marry a few months later, and then divorce five years after. Everything is so fast, yet Image result for goalswe want things to last long.We are way too impulsive in our society today. There is little thought that goes into our decisions that have long term effects. And in the end, the long term effects are what I am worried about. Will we wind-up hurting ourselves in the end? Will a generation become depressed and less driven because they are ill-prepared for the real world? Hopefully this is fear, and it dissipates as time goes on.

THE NOW: WHY DON’T SOME RECOGNIZE THE GRIND

adventure, cold, mountain

“Put the work in, and you’ll understand how you get there.”

No matter who it is, whether in the public eye or some average man or woman, dealing with the downsides of success is real. And when I say the downsides, I am referring to the people who try to make you feel some sort of penalty because you’ve made something of yourself. The people who see what you do as trivial. Something that can be easily accomplished with just a few quick steps. But what they don’t know is that you’ve been cultivating your craft in whatever you’ve been doing for quite some time. Toiling for years while everyone else was living their lives. So was it about your come up that make some express disdain?

One of the reasons is that it further magnifies how much they have wasted their own lives. If you start working toward your goals at age 21 or 22, and become very financially set by the age of 30/31, they can’t understand. They stand on the side trying to piece together what it was that set you over the top. Almost like it was this one thing you did that made you pop in your career. Notice I said started at age 22 and now you’re 30, 31, or even 32 years action, active, activityof age. All that time in between was the struggle years. The years that while others were enjoying their youth in their twenties, you were working. And now they see you, and it sets in how much time they’ve spent just sitting around. Now it’s hard to get in the game because you now know what could have been if you just buckled down initially.

But see, there’s more, there’s more that goes into people not being able to understand the grind. Another reason has to do with the cognitive abilities of the person pursuing their goals. The average person’s IQ is around 110, so some have a hard time believing we have these people with a 150, 160, or Midsection of Man Holding Hands over White Backgroundeven 200 IQ. And that biological factor is ingrained in some people where their brain processes information differently. They are able to wrap their minds around mathematics, science, sociology, business, and any other facet of productivity in society. And explaining the way their brains work is tough because how do you really explain why your mind understands what it does. No one can wrap their mind around their mind. It’s that certain aspects of life make sense to them and they run with it.

Which leads me into my next reason why some people can’t recognize the grind. The idea of trying and failing is something that eludes them. I myself am a person that is able to take my failure in stride and move on to create better things. Some sit on the side and say what you shouldn’t do, but they’re only projecting their feelings on to you. They’re telling you don’t do it, take it from someone whose been down the road. But what they’re actually saying is it didn’t work for me and I’m smarter than you. So I know it won’t work for you. Your ability to do something further they can’t makes them feel mundane and unaccomplished. Your potential success makes them feel bitter from not achieving their own goals out of life.

In the end, as with the people who respect your come up there will be the ones downing your come up. Instead of taking the blueprint and using it as a basic template to build something for themselves, they find any reason to say how it won’t work. And you can’t get through to these people because achievement, adventure, bravethey are looking for someone to subscribe to their bullshit. But why would I subscribe to your ideology if it’s gotten you nowhere. So I say to all successful people or those embarking on your journey keep working. Like Denzel Washington stated in a speech he gave at the NAACP Image Awards. “Keeping moving, keep growing, keep learning: see you at work.”

HUMANOID: THE MORALE OF INTRODUCING US INTO MACHINES

Image result for humanoid

“What’s good now may not be later.”

For decades people have theorized what the future could potentially look like with robots incorporated into our society. And when I say robotics, I’m talking machinery for production of goods. I’m talking about putting human qualities into robots. Giving them human thoughts and feelings that make them react like us. It sounds interesting if you’re a tech type of person. But are there any drawbacks to having robots perform with human like abilities? In my opinion there are both positives and negatives with making human robotics to benefit us in society. They would be useful in the workforce, military, and even in education.

There uses in the workforce could be beneficial for making the job more productive and efficient. An engineer would be needed for the overseeing of the robot, but the robot could perform for hours without needing a break. The down time that a normal person would need is unnecessary to complete a task. For example, if we relied on the robots for construction, projects would complete the job quicker and cost effective. Now initially it would cost a lot to build humanoid robots, but as time went on, the price would drop. Now, my next question is, are there any downsides that come with incorporating human robots into the workforce.

The downside is that it would render so many people in our society obsolete. What’s the purpose of hiring a person, when robots would work for free. They are more productive, but once they complete the project, who would patronize the goods and services. If they have the jobs, what’s the use of people spending. There would be this animosity from the masses, who are feeling threatened by losing out to robots. Another issue with the workforce is too many people specializing in robotics and not enough of other professions causing an imbalance in the career pursuits. Which leads into my next viewpoint. What would happen with education?

The upside to education is that students would become more engaged in the classroom. The teacher would have an assistant that could assist him/her in everything from class lectures to grading coursework. The job of an educator would be less of a burden. Another upside is that duties around the school campus would be perform in more of a timely fashion. These could be duties that range from maintenance to constructional. Now in my opinion as with any good comes the downside of using robots for this type of assistance.

The negatives associated with using robots in education is once again, the employment aspects. If the students are more engaged with the robot than the teacher, the educator becomes replaced. Because why have a teacher when you have the machine for free. You could program the robot to teach and let students answer questions. In addition to the teachers, the robots performing task around the school could see more people lose their jobs. But is education and the workforce of benefit or burden. Well how about our armed forces. Imagine the military using robots.

In regards to the military using robots, the obvious upside is, decrease in casualties. Countries could use bots to fight instead of people. The human cost to society would lesson, considering we’re using machines, the death tolls would lessen. On the other hand, using military capability in robots could backfire. They could ultimately turn on the masses and we could become under siege. Also, mechanics could become faulty causing even more people dying. In the end, there are ups and downs with incorporating robots into society. Do I think we’re ready anytime soon, no. But when we do, we must be prepared to deal with any negative externalities that come with using the bots.

FEAR OF LAUNCHING: THE GREY AREA OF SELF EMPLOYMENT

Image result for self employment

“Once you start, what is it really?”

In my early 20’s I tried figuring out what I want to do with the rest of my life. By my mid 20’s what I wanted actually involved working toward the goal. And the main goal was to be self employed in my career endeavor. Now that I know what I want to do, which is working as an Independent Filmmaker as well as a Novelists, I go how should I really attack this goal. At the moment I am finishing up my first novel & book of short stories and working on my next short film. My age for self employment is 30/31 years of age. But there is this uncomfortable grey area that people have a hard time discussing.

The hard discussion for self employment for starters is the day-to-day work. With my career interests, it’s not like working at an office starting my own company or managing my own restaurant. Sustaining myself as a writer means spending a lot of time sitting in a room alone. And with my own thoughts, pushing out something, not always compelling, but something that will capture a readers attention. Here is the catch, capture their attention where they will want to purchase my books or watch my films. How do you know what people will gravitate to is tough.

Like right now, I am finishing my first book about a boy who can talk to God. God gives him guidance as he navigates life coming from elementary school into middle school. But also aiding him in coming to grips with a divisive household as well. Sounds interesting to me, but how will it be received by an audience. Will they go, this is interesting, I want more from this author, or will they say, stick to your day job. Only time will tell; and yet that’s just the writing. What about living on a day to day basis? You don’t know what your income could be month to month. You might make $5,000 one month and $500 the next.

That’s why being an established writer is important. But how do you know even when you’re established how much you will make. And don’t get me started on the film career. How will it get written? Is it good enough of a story to write? If written, who wants to purchase the script? Who wants to invest in my script to make into a film? Once finished will it get distribution or will I have to self distribute? Even with all what has been said, will anyone want to watch the movie? So here I am, two careers that are extreme risk. A risk that could make you very very successful or a failure.

I guess that’s why parents encourage their children to go to school, get a half descent career. Then every two weeks get your check, pay bills, eat, maybe a vacation per year and that’s it. It’s a mundane life, but a hell of a lot safer than the unknown of being self employed; especially when you’re pursuing my interest. You grow up and tell people I want to be a doctor, a lawyer, engineer, or school teacher they smile and give you adulation for your future plans. But then if you say, hey when I grow up I want to think for a living. I want to challenge the minds of people by writing compelling stories. Oh and you really want to tick them off, use Spielberg’s saying, I dream for a living.

Most people are going to encourage you to wake up. Because there is no time to dream in the real world. And there you have it. Funny thing about me being so lost as to where I will turn next, it’s normal. A lot of young people with day jobs are asking themselves that same question. Your whole life you think there is this path to take in life for success. But the fact of the matter is that there is no path. The path can be straight, then veer left, turn right, go in reverse, and back straight again. There is no one way of getting to where you want to be. But hopefully you get there; and as long as you get there hopefully it was worth the journey.
