NEGATIVITY: WHY PEOPLE LIKE TO SEE OTHERS SHORTCOMINGS

Image result for negativity

“They project on to you what they hate about themselves.”

Life will always have people who thrive off of negativity, but with the advent of social media, it has been magnified even more. Doesn’t matter if it’s a celebrity, or if it’s an average Joe. People love to talk about all the bad things in another individual’s life. Now, like I said, you will always have these types of people. Yet, the only way to show them that they’re winning is to continue to feed into the negativity that they project onto you. So how do remove yourself from it, but at the same time you still need to coexist in this society. You can’t fully turn away from everything because then you lose your relevance and ability to exist in the dominant society. For starters, people have to know your mentality when it comes to how they approach you with information. With my personality, everyone knows that I will give you very little to feed off of in life. So I’m rarely approached with anything negative because I have no problem shutting you down in the rudest way.

But where does all of this negativity stem from; because it has always been around. One of the main reasons that people are negative is because when the world is moving around you, yet you’re still in the same position as you have always been the taste of sour grapes fill your mouth. And when that taste enters your mouth, instead of pointing to self, we find so many reasons why it’s someone else or hate someone else’s success. Why is it so hard to except your own failures. Because as a human we look at ourselves as these special creatures. It’s an ideology which stems so much from religious beliefs. You’re told you’re in God’s likeness, watched over by God, loved by God, then your parents cuddle you. So when you step into society and there is nothing for you, it becomes someone else’s problem. People have a hard time admitting they’re not good, or lack any real talent. And will find any reason to fight against those who do.

Especially, especially the people close to them in life. If you think strangers hate is real, try the people close to you. Whether you know it or not, your biggest adversary might be in your own inner circle. They see you all the time, know you, might have grown up with you. So when you go places in life they don’t, instead of using that as fuel to propel themselves, they take pleasure in trying to burn your building down that you built. Why? Well two reasons, one who struggling really spends time showing love for those prospering. But another reason they fight against you is because you remind them of how much time they’ve wasted in life. Not only time, but had they have put in the work, what they could have been. And what’s scary is that you can never get that time back again. Your success not only becomes their failure, but you the success becomes a walking conspiracy theory. You must have been given something no one else was given.

Yet, is it all about success being hated by failures. No, you have successful people who hate on other successful people. The negative successful person A) is angry at the other successful person B) because two reasons. Success A) fears this person passing them up, so they are no longer holding that top spot. But also, Success A) use to walk into a room and everyone loved them, now they have to share the spotlight with B). You see, in the end, negative people will always be around, but what they really need is for you to care. Once they see that you care, it’s like sharks circling their prey. Negativity is its own cruise ship out to sea, with no other passengers but the negative person. Yet, who wants to ride on a cruise alone. So negative passengers need more people on this cruise so they can have people to self-loath with out to sea.

SOCIETAL DECLINE: WHY ANGER IS REIGNING SUPREME

adult, anger, angry

“The easiest emotion to have and the hardest to lose.”

In America today, there is a new trend that is going around and that is the getting upset for the sake of being upset movement. I don’t think any one person started this trend, it’s just what has transpired over time. And a lot of it has to with our social media platforms. Never before have people been able to express themselves the way we’ve been able to do so in America until now. When looking at a platform like Facebook which has a community of about 800 million people globally, you’re talking they have a lot of influence. So much influence, that the election support of Barack Obama in both his election victories were pushed heavily on this platform. But with that comes the people who aim to take issue and express themselves outwardly, their anger.

But what is it? Is it that people are more angry today than any other time in history? Or is the number of angry people reflective of what it has always been? It’s just that in the past, people did not have a massive platform to express how they genuinely felt. Yet, there are indicators that point to why people are so angry in our society than just the internet. Yes when you look at past generations, they didn’t have constant reminders of how little they have in this world. You can click on a Google search engine and see photos of a life that you know people live that you don’t live. Or, there are images of how people look physically that make you think there is a standard that you don’t live up to, that you should be living. So with that said, maybe there is something to knowing too much about our lives.

Then again, if you look at the 1950’s and 60’s, that rock and roll-baby boom era, they had constant advertising of lifestyle in television, magazines, and newspapers. Whether it was the mom on television showing off the latest household appliance, or some movie where the main character was all dolled-up in expensive attire. And let’s not get started on the physical images that were marketed to so many young women in society. The most famous in the past had to have been the corset, where women wanted and were expected to have these slim waist. So with all that said, what has changed in society that contributes to the anger. And that one element that has changed is the employment market. Back decades ago, they were inundated with the same level information flow for their time period. But people also had jobs as well.

Now today, people are having a hard time sustaining in society financially. So seeing people live around them, they are constantly upset. What’s crazy is that there is more money to be made than any other time in history. And you don’t even need a boss to make an income. But like anything else in this world it takes time, a long time. And in the end, the problem with anger is people’s quality of life. It’s why our language is so sensitive, why we hate people for doing well, and follow negativity. It all makes us feel good about our own hell to see someone else there with us. So until the quality of life shift, you’ll continue to see this trend of anger in America.

BRINGING YOU TO THE EDGE: WHY AS MEN WE MUST CHECK OURSELVES

Image result for arguments in relationships

“Don’t let her make you just as emotional.”

When we get in arguments as men, we tend to get to the same level of anger as the woman in the argument and it boils over. You are being pulled into this person emotionally, and cannot let that get to you. And the reason is because as men once we get emotional, it becomes how can I hurt this person the most. What can I say to get this person to shut up. Why, well we’re in charge of physicality. And that is not to say that as a woman you are this lesser in society (we know that given you birth our children). But what I will say is that men tend to carry ourselves in a more physical way with our emotions, whereas women are more internal. And what do I mean by men not letting the woman’s anger get to you; this is what I mean.

In any argument, one person is always trying to gain the upper hand over the other person. And with that comes insults that are thrown for what appear to come from deep down inside. And with the person trying to gain the upper hand, you will always have someone say something that they regret. And usually, it is us as men. Why is it us as men? The reason why us as men get to that point because once we reach the boiling point we try to hit you with anything to tear you apart. It’s to crush anything and everything you thought you had inside to give. But it most often result in us stopping before hand. Because that realness in how we feel could cut you deep. Which might ultimately make you out to be worse than the woman you’re arguing with.

Now, men typically say things we feel out of rage when feeling rejected in some sort. So we stoop to a much lower level than the woman to try to make her feel less because we can’t have her. And it has to do with checking our egos. But the other reason is that we hate to lose arguments so we say the worse thing we feel to win. Because in life to men, this battle is a zero sum; there has to be a winner and there has to be a loser. And in the moment of fighting, I have to win and you have to lose. So we will try to bring you down emotionally, to bring ourselves up in the fight. So in the end, we try to win at all cost, or least end the conversation when we want to end it. And once we feel we have lost control, we go to extreme measures to end the conversation. But what we really end of doing is saying something that shows us in a much worse light than the woman.

POINTING THE FINGER: WHY WE PENALIZE THOSE WHO TALK LIKE US

Related image

“We love to point, but no one owns their own stuff.”

In today’s society, more and more, we are finding that people love to play the blame game. We love pointing fingers and chastising others for the language that they use. What’s crazy is that we use the same language and will find any excuse as to why we should and others shouldn’t. And to add to it, we have become a very dishonest nation. But where does it come from because it’s not like we’ve been great for so long and now all of a sudden we’re this sensitive of a country. In my opinion, a lot of it has to do with the availability of technology in our society.

Well, what does technology have to do with people pointing the finger. Because we are so connected and not just domestic, but internationally. The local news and major news outlets are no longer the only medium in getting live up to date coverage. Facebook live and YouTube allows the ability to view live real time events. So CNN, FOX, and MSNBC, along with ABC, CBS, and NBC, are all no longer channels we have to get our news from to track a story. But along with that tracking of coverage, we also have the social sites where everyone can have an opinion about anything and anyone. And if enough people come together as a collective, you forge ahead and push an agenda.

Now the only problem with pushing an agenda is that every agenda shouldn’t be the agenda a group is focused on. For instance, comedian and color commentator Bill Maher recently told a joke that was considered racially charged and insensitive toward African Americans. Meanwhile our current Secretary of Education Betsy DeVoe is trying to push a choice program that she was constantly asked will students be discriminated against. And time and time again she worded it in a way that would give districts the ability to deal with that matter. Meaning, discrimination could exist, but the government is not involved, which could lead to a Jim Crow atmosphere. What does this have to do with Bill Maher and agendas. That agenda is way bigger than what he stated, and it’s longer lasting.

Another example of the pointing fingers is how we look at celebrities and say they are public figures. They should not talk a certain way. True, but it also applies to you as well as the average person. Meaning, you shouldn’t say it or do it, but they really shouldn’t say or do it. But you’re both in an obligatory situation to carry responsibilities in society. Yet too often we use the public figure excuse as an undermining means to get away with our own ignorance. And it’s a shit hill, where everyone is getting shitty, but we point at other people’s shit. So celebrities say Trump is president, he shouldn’t talk a certain way because of his position. And you ask them about the language and actions in their environment. They immediately shut it down by saying he’s president. Yet average Joe’s make the same argument against them as it pertains to social responsibility.

My theory on this in society is that people are dissatisfied with life. They want to feel a sense of power, so they try to use your position against you. But when you say all people say this or do this, they never say that those people shouldn’t either. They say things like, “But you’re a public figure.” And there lies the weaseling your way out of responsibility. And the reason I say quality of life is because most of these feelings are not real. It’s just that if you are in a higher position and I am so low, then people think that constitutes being awful, since the successful person has more than them. And if they had to live by the same rules on top of being less successful, their lack of accomplishments are further magnified.

In the end, pointing will never go away. It’s only when the person doing the pointing get themselves into trouble. Then, they are quickly on the defensive about who does the same things in addition to themselves. The overall hypocrisy is what’s sickening. Have a standard that yes, people at certain levels shouldn’t do, but it’s still and action no one should do. Meaning I shouldn’t rape, but Trump really shouldn’t rape, yet neither one of us should conduct in rape against a woman.

BELIEF IS ACTIVE: WHAT YOUR FAITH SAYS ABOUT YOU

Image result for FAITH

“Believing in you, inside and out.”

What does faith mean to you? What does having a belief system mean to you? Is it important to have a faith base in our society or not? And when I say faith base, it does not necessarily have to be religious. I always find it odd when I hear people who have no faith. Now, when I say faith, like I said before, does not have to be religious. They can simply have faith in the idea of waking up tomorrow morning. But there are people in society that don’t even have that much. What does that say about a person who believes in nothing? What goes on inside of their minds on a daily?

Let’s first observe how people of a religious mind think for just one second. These are the people who either verbally or non-verbally express their thanks. They thank God for giving them yet another day on Earth. They pray that God gives them strength to get through the day. And they also pray that add the end of the day, he gives them yet another day tomorrow. So, to these people, they believe that there is a force, a deity rather, that is so strong it is above them. It is a force from the hand of God which places them in their situation of good spirits, good health, and an overall, good life. Because without him, they could not make it through the day. But what about other viewpoints?

What about the people who believe in their own personal selves outside the realm of a deity. They wake up optimistic no matter how rough the day might turn out. To these people, their belief in their capabilities will propel them forward. And their held belief in self is what makes up their overall faith base. They are generally people who deeply understand their own mortality. They realize that the end is inevitable, and it gives them a sense of urgency in life. “Go for the gusto,” they say to themselves. Because when the lights go out, they’re out forever. Make this one life count because it’s the only one you have to live. And believing in self at times can be just as strong if not stronger than your religious faith base.

But what about the people who don’t have anything they believe in or look toward? They are the people who just work and live to just exist. Luckily for me, I have something that keeps me going in life. That something to believe in, gives me hope and I have faith in my personal success. But there are people who live and then they die. Never in life experiencing anything remotely good or of pleasure. What does that say about them? What happened in their lives that they have no belief in anything? Not religion, not themselves, not other people, not even other living organisms. They have absolutely nothing to look forward to in life. And those are the people who are of the more depressed bunch.

Not having any faith is odd to me because what is your purpose. And I don’t mean just career, but existence. They refuse to commit suicide, well most don’t, so why exist. What is it that keeps them waking up? For most, it’s hopefully things will get better in life even if they don’t. And just like that, belief; just like that, faith. See, in the end, I don’t think that we have all these people who lack faith or belief. If we did, suicides would be of grave concern in society. The fact that people don’t take their own lives is belief that life may get better. Even as miniscule as it might seem, there is something there. An ember of some sort; if only the person could harness that ember and move on from that point, they might actually attain happiness.

CROSSING THE PICKET LINE: SURVIVAL OR SELFISH

Image result for picket line

“Have you ever thought of crossing?”

Signs, chants, and anger fill the air as men and women stand outside and march to the unfair treatment of their organizations. Either unfair, or upset at layoffs from their company of employment. Now, my question is, do you feel the person or people who decide to cross the picket line, are traitors? Are these people selfish because they choose to come to work and not stand out in the cold with you? For me, I think it depends on the situation of the person or people not willing to cross the picket line. You don’t know why they are choosing not to cross the line. It could be for reasons outside of being selfish.

The number one reason for crossing the line is because you people who have to generate an income. And for that reason alone you can’t truly be too upset at the person who cross. In this society, anyone who can make an income for themselves is a blessing. So if you work for an organization where jobs are being cut, and you make the cut, it’s best to just keep working. Because it all boils down to if they would leave their jobs for you. So every man for himself and God for us all type of thought process. That doesn’t mean you don’t care if someone can eat at night. It just means you have to worry about your immediate situation first.

Well, what about the people who cross because they genuinely don’t care. There are those people who are out in society that are the cut throat types that could care less. They look at life like, I got it, you don’t, and too bad if you starve. Not only too bad, but I’m going to take more than I need. This form of greed is the reason why initially, so many people decide to protest . There is usually an issue with management at an executive level that causes people to picket. The ones at the top take so much for themselves yet say we need to make cutbacks. But if they’re making cutbacks, then how come executives are getting their bonuses.

See, for me living in New York City, you see a lot of protest. Whether the people are protesting some politician/s or some multinational corporation. They either protest as a small group of ten to twenty people (small businesses) or even in the hundreds of thousands (Occupy Wall Street). I fall somewhere in the middle as it pertains to picketing. Meaning it’s hard to care when you’re so busy trying to keep a roof over your own head. Yet at the same time, you have to cultivate a skill for yourself in society. A skill that if you do lose your job you can move on to a different one. But we as people get comfortable with daily life. We go to sleep and wake up assuming there is going to be something there for us. And when that something is stripped away we panic. You just have to keep pushing, even on a job, and never get complacent. Otherwise the changes in America will always leave you destitute and helpless.

GRRRR! RAGE AND IT’S EFFECTS ON THE MIND

Image result for rage

“How anger effects your mood.”

I want you to conduct and experiment if you ever get the chance. I want you to think about a particular topic. Not just any topic, but a very controversial topic. Something like politics, racism, homophobia, religion, etc. Sit at home alone and engage in a full on debate with yourself. And try to get as mad as you can possibly get regarding the topic. Then after about an hour I want you to evaluate how you feel in the moment you stop being mad. Write down how you feel about yourself in this current state. What do you think you feel in this moment?

Now this all sounds crazy, but the thought behind something this extreme is because of the hate on social media. Some of the comments are so over the top hateful you wonder what is going on in people’s lives. And it’s not sarcasm, but flat out hatred. Now, I have conducted this experiment before a few times. Then I tried performing a productive task afterward. I noticed that my head hurt and I couldn’t focus on more important tasks. One of which was performing my daily writing for my blog and novel.

But I was only experimenting, what about the people who actually live like this on a daily basis. For me, when I see something or hear something I don’t like I tend to move on. So, why is it so hard for people to do the same. I have a few theories as to why people are this way. The first is that people don’t have anything going on in their lives. So when a famous person post their lives, even if remotely interesting the viewer just meltdown. Well why does their interesting life effect you so much? Because if you are home, work, home, work, and that’s your life, you look for reasons to be mad.

Which leads me into my next theory why people build rage. In their daily lives, they have no voice, which is why they protest. It makes them feel like they’ve accomplished something in a world where they accomplish nothing. Me on the other hand, unless you’ve broken a serious law, I don’t see the point in getting so mad about someone else’s life. So when a famous person is forced to apologize, they may have been one of the protesters, so it makes them feel like they did something important. It’s the prison inmate mentality. Hey, we’re in prison with nothing but time, let’s file complaints against the corrections officers. Hell, there’s nothing else to feel the time with.

And my last theory is that people spend so much of their lives not preparing for life, that when it’s time for them to get serious they’re now scrambling. For instance, they use their 20’s to have fun, then when life dawn on them, they have spent 10 years partying. Now some people go hey time to build. But others have this inner disdain for wasting a decade now 30’s are arriving. But instead of buckling down the disdain continues into their 30’s to 40’s. And now they have wasted 20 years. And just like that, the rejection of wasted time sets in. That’s why it’s important to pursue a career and life from three mindsets: what do I love, am I good at it, and can I financially sustain over a lifetime.
