Let it radiate out.”

INTRODUCTION

How many of you maintain a good spiritual energy about yourself on a daily basis? Meaning, putting yourself in a great place that is channeled into your beliefs of what you hope to expect in life and what you hope will not happen. Great mental spirituality can make you a very happy person if you are in the right mental state. For so long a lot of where we have gotten our spiritual energy was from our held belief in religion. But you have people who are atheist that believe in the powers of spirituality. And when you look at various forms of spirituality, this is especially true.

FORMS OF SPIRITUALITY

The different forms of how a person may get their good mental spiritual energy to radiate into happiness.

  • EXERCISE FORM

When observing how we exercise that contribute to our spiritual happiness, one stands out the most; yoga. Yoga is a very spiritual workout that trains the body how to move, stretch, and contort into different movements. The level of discipline you need can ultimately positively effect other aspects of life which will contribute to health as well as happiness.

  • RELIGIOUS FORM

There is the most prevalent form of turning your good mental spiritual energy into happiness, and that is religious beliefs. I have seen everyone from friends and family, to strangers increasing their happiness tend-fold because of their belief in a higher power. Given that life is so tough, they reach for something greater outside of themselves. It is these practices that have worked for thousands of years and continues to work today.

  • AESTHETICS FORM

This aspect of contributing to good mental spiritual energy can mean something as simple as looking in the mirror liking what you see. I will tell you from experience, a good haircut or new outfit makes you feel good. Doesn’t have to be the most expensive item, but the new look is a good feeling. So that outside appearance really makes a difference in how you feel.

  • CONSUMING FORM

And the last form of that good mental spirit is the food and beverages you consume. Eating healthy can really make you feel good, and not only contributes to long term good health, but the ability to avoid sicknesses contribute to happiness. No one likes going to the doctor’s office. So knowing your health is in good standing is a plus.

ALL IN ALL

Overall, the feeling of good mental spiritual energy is what makes life worth living. If you are not in that state, I suggest you find a means to do so. Because living on this Earth in a negative form will inevitably bring you down and force you to lose interest in life.

AGE OF DEPRESSION: HOW THE MORE WE UNDERSTAND SELF THE MORE UNHAPPY WE BECOME

black-and-white, depressed, depression

“In an era of technology, we are more connected, yet very much detached.”

In a world where we are more connected than anytime before, you would think it would make us happier. Yet it has not only made us happier, but the more we learn and understand ourselves the more depressed we become. And I don’t mean know ourselves like knowing me as an adult. I mean knowing us is it pertains to our existence on Earth. You would think with the advent of technological innovation and scientific breakthroughs, we would have a much higher level of enlightenment that would make us happy. But what that heightened awareness has done is give us the complete opposite effect. But should we digress because of this unintended effect?

View of Tourist Resort Well, let’s first look at what makes us depressed in today’s society. There are many different reasons why people tend to be unhappy. For starters, you are able to see up close your reality. And what I mean by your reality, you can see where you stand financially, socially, academically in the world. For example, you can Google image luxury, and see a world that is beyond your world just by typing it into a search engine. When my mother was young, an opulent life existed, yet you didn’t quite know about it. Clear Wine Glasses in a RowPeople were either born into wealth, or it was something you stumbled upon. Not today, today, you can actually see how little you have relative to someone else. And what’s crazy, you might have a socioeconomic position that is supporting you and your family. Yet you can’t enjoy because you are comparing yourself to someone way above you.

Why do we do it? Why do we look to someone that is far beyond us? Well, at times, that person is our age. No matter your age today, there is someone that age doing something on a more monumental scale than yourself. When I was in college, I was broke coming out, yet guys my age were signing multi-million dollar contracts to play sports. Comparing yourself to them and not appreciating what you have, even when what you have is adequate to live, robs you of gratification Image result for comparison peopleand the ability to live a fulfilling life. Meaning, you might want to make $50,000 in a year, but someone tells you, you should want better. Now you can’t enjoy what life you could have had with what you wanted because you’re chasing something you may not even want just to satisfy other people’s perspective. And with our lives being inundated with so much imagery, we still have another aspect of our lives that make us unhappy: our own existence.

Coping with our existence is tough for so many. And I don’t mean existence in the context of waking and going to work everyday, coming home, and sleeping. I mean the fact that we are here, on Earth, living and breathing. The fact that I was not born a lion, tiger, bird, or a house cat, but a human is hard for many to cope with in life. The simple existence that is me, a carbon based life form that has Related imagetaken forever to evolve into what I am, is hard to accept. And a lot of it comes from increased scientific understanding of ourselves. Here is where religion may have aided us in living on this planet. With the idea that there is something greater once we die, it gives us hope. As time progress in society, more and more people are becoming awoken to our existence. So awake, we are unmotivated to do anything. So now we become depressed with the idea that this is all that is here for us.

You would think that feeling this way would give people a sense of urgency, yet it’s having the inverse effects. The closer we come to figuring out why we are on Earth, the more we become detached from living. Maybe not knowing, is what’s best at times. Because in the end, unlike any other species where nature dictates how they behave, we are given conscious. We are given the ability to say yes or say no. We are endowed with the ability to make sound decisions. And that very conscious that gives us that ability also makes us aware of our situations in life. Some people make the best out of it, and others can never cope. And for those that can’t cope, it leads to further depression; leading to substance abuse or even suicide.

INTELLECTUAL CIVILIZATIONS ON THE RISE: HOW THE MIND MAKES US AWARE AND LESS HAPPY

Related image

“Our minds are growing, but it’s hurting us.”

Unlike the people of the past, we are becoming more and more aware of our surroundings. We are becoming more and more aware of who we are as a people as well. Yet, the more we become aware, the more depressed we become. But it’s not our fault, it’s the basis of what we are as people. Human curiosity and advancement causes this to happen. Meaning, we want advancements in medicine and science as well as technology, so long as it does not interfere with social norms and religion. But you can’t have an advanced civilization and not challenge these beliefs in the process. Because the advancements heightens the mind and you become more aware. Then you challenge the beliefs of the past.

What are some things that we have become more aware about. For starters, relationships, and when I say relationships I mean marriage. The more you learn about what it means the more you get turned off. People say you do it for love, but you don’t need to marry someone to love them. Marriage is not a molecule or virus that takes form. If two people go to work and come home to raise children, do you really “need” marriage. You water, food, clothing, and shelter, not marriage. But society has constructed our minds to make us think it does when in reality nothing happens. You go to work come home, go to work and come home. So why do we need it? Well, in the past women couldn’t work. So she had to marry a man so she could be cared for. But if he died or left the family, she was screwed. So laws had to be created stating that a woman is entitled to something if the marriage shall end. So marriage is not love, it’s entering a contract that aids in protecting a woman in case the man leave or pass away. The relationship is the love.

But is marriage the only way that we have become mentally aware and more unhappy? What about friendships? A friend is supposed to be another person who you enter a non-intimate relationship with whom you share common bond with in life. Our awareness of friendships have been relegated to likes on social media. Instead of conversations we text message each other. There use to be time you remembered people’s telephone numbers, and now we have contacts we touch to call them. Our awareness have caused us to take people who are true friends for granted because if I have ten good friends I hang with and you have 100k people who follow you on Instagram, then you’re more important with the 100k. So instead of building relationships, we’re more interested in the statistical aspect of building; quantity over quality.

Now, we still haven’t reached to the full extent why higher levels of awareness has made us smarter, yet more lonely and unhappy. And the main reason is that in today’s society unlike any other time in history, we are constantly bombarded and inundated with information. Unlike our parents, we don’t have to wait until we reach a certain age to understand life. There is enough information to know everything now. So much so, we consume, consume, consume, then dump. We’ve become human locust, where we eat all the resources. Once there is nothing left, we dump the place where we got our resources. It’s the reason why Google is such a big deal because there are billions of pages of information. No one human can find out everything in Google, which is why they are such an attractive organization; unlimited information.

In the end, people of an older generation question, what’s the downside of too much information. And with anything, there is the upside and downside. The downside is that it tends to make us more depressed once we figure the truth behind what we’re looking for in life. It can also make us more detached from reality. But there is an upside to the information. Those in power will have to work even harder to do their jobs because it’s becoming too hard to trick the masses. With apps, social media, and access to more documents than the government has access to, they at times are last to know information. So there is a forced transparency with how they operate. But whatever the outcome, we will do as past generations have done when met with adversity. Adjust to the changes or die as a result of not being able to cope in an ever-changing society.
