CEREBRAL REACH: WHAT IT TAKES TO HARNESS 100 PERCENT OF THE HUMAN MIND

analysis, blackboard, board

“Think about all the possibilities.”

the brain

The human brain is a very interesting and very complex organ in the human body. For the longest there has been a myth that humans only use 10% of our human brains. But that is such a bad myth, when in fact we use 100% of our brains throughout the day. The reason we have said 10% in the past is because we use such a small portion of our minds to its full potential. And that is where the confusion takes place. There is a difference between the brain in use and using the brain. Is there a science behind being able to harness the brain to its full potential? Is there a model that can be used to tap into the brain?

daily task

For the most part, our brains are used to get through the day performing mundane task. These task include cooking breakfast, completing a task on the job, exercising during the day, and raising children once you get home. These are repetitious daily task we do so much we no longer think to do them. And there lies the problem with the reason man is not able to harness the brain to its full potential of both physical and mental resources. Very few of us learn new things in life, so we stop evolving past a certain point. But for the curious ones that do continuously learn, they grow past everyone else.

use it or lose it

The brain is like any other muscle in the body that you must work over time. Just as you exercise your chest with bench pressing, or squats for leg strength, you must read to open your mind to new possibilities. You would think that I read a lot of novels pursuing writing, but I don’t. I actually read about psychology, health, motivation, biology, and social interactions. This aids in me writing characters for my screenplays because I know to a degree the human construct. So creating scenarios is easier than reading someone else’s work that is fiction. But in this, I observe people in society and base my claims about the life around all of us from the observation when people don’t think they are being watched. Which is usually the real behavior. That is how I use my mind.

scientific findings

There are so many findings in science, but I would really like to find the science of some people just born to know. I know there all these factors that play a role in those who can harness their mind to do better in life, than those that don’t succeed. Because I will be writing something not realizing how that idea got there, but it is there. Even before I started working the brain, things manifested within me. Hopefully science will be able to figure out what makes some of us able to figure out ourselves while others can’t. Below is a video from → National Geographics on the science behind the brain.

AUGMENTED REALITY: HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE THE WORLD AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Image result for augmented reality

“In a world that is beyond our world.”

Technological innovation has been pushing the bar for decades. Yet as we look back at what was supposed to be the hot items, they are so generic looking now. Especially compared to the great products that are hitting the market in today’s society. We look at the past and say to ourselves, “Wow, that looks Grey Vintage Crt Tvawful.” “I remember when that was the in product that everyone wanted.” But it’s not an awful product, it’s just that the innovation to technology has made such leaps and bounds. I look at televisions in just my lifetime. The picture quality of a television in the past for what I thought was incredible, looks dated now. So what does the future hold?

And when I say what the future holds for us, how will we communicate in the future through various forms of mass communication. Because we already don’t use televisions like we once did. Now, our cell phones and laptops have replaced live television. It seems odd sometimes when I turnSpace Gray Iphone 6 on the television set. And you might ask yourselves, why all the T.V. talk? Well because the television has been the main source of how we get information out to the masses. But now that is rapidly going away and replacing itself with other forms of connecting to each other. But how will we use the communication?

Meaning, more and more, we will start to see augmented reality (AR). The computer generated graphics that were only in Hollywood movies, will now beach, grass, landscapebe of use to the populace. Seeing through the lens of Terminator and Robo Cop was seen as revolutionary in the 1980’s, and is coming to fruition through the creation of AR and VR (Virtual Reality). AR will be, in my opinion, better than VR. Because AR is existing in this real space with added forms of advancement. Like watching a movie from your AR headset in Central Park versus the VR, watching a movie wearing the headset at home, yet inside a theater in the virtual world.

Now, there are skeptics that feel that this form of technology will make us even more impersonal than we are now. I tend to disagree because we are more connected the more the technology advance. Pokemon Go proved how connected we are becoming. A game where people who were complete app, augmented reality, gamestrangers were connecting to each other to play the game. Other skeptics might see these advancements as a way to get in the way of daily activities. But, with the increase in innovation, people will become more active once you can incorporate the augmented world into your workout. Video games, such as first player shooter games will be all the rave. Just imagine, AR Call of Duty tournaments in Central Park.

In the end, we are reluctant to see what the future holds. You have people who are from an industrialized time period who see these advancements as a way to hurt jobs. But there is no stopping the technological advancements. You have to adjust and role with the punches. Because the change is inevitable, so get used to it. Time will always tick forward, as well as man with it. Adjust to the changes or be left behind.

GENTRIFICATION: WHAT’S TO HAPPEN OF THOSE MOVING OUT

Related image

“Where do the new residents go?”

As a New York City resident, I have been seeing the moves made by those in real estate to gentrify properties throughout the city. More so in low income areas of the city. The buildings are renovated and the rent is increased. Increased to a point where so many people can’t afford to live there. Then, they are forced to move into other areas that they can afford. But this is not just a New York City phenomenon, this is a national concern. And why is it a cause for concern? Well because it leaves hundreds or even thousands of families destitute. And where are they to move; into other low income areas. What are some potential drawbacks of this?

Like I said before, I live in New York City, but I am originally from the Midwest. And for me, growing up in the Southern Wisconsin area, about 45 minutes out of Chicago, I see it in that city. And it is something that has actually contributed to the high crime rates. When the housing projects were torn down in Chicago, people from them were thrust back into the communities. But along with them came the criminal element. Gangs and drug dealers introduced themselves into communities that already were plagued with drug and gang problems. What happened next? The gangs already established are now competing with the new entering gangs.

And this is one of the drawbacks of the introduction of gentrification. It’s what I see happening in New York City. When the old gangs are moved out, let’s say in parts of Brooklyn, where do they go. They don’t leave town or stop gang banging, they move into the next best place, usually to another borough. So if they leave Brooklyn most likely they’re going to Queens. But with Queens being built just as fast and Staten Island so far away, they move into Upper Harlem and The Bronx. So what will happen over the years to come, is a sharp rise in rapes, robberies, and murders in Upper Harlem and The Bronx. And why do I say Upper Harlem, because Lower parts of Harlem are even becoming too expensive to live.

But is it all bad when it comes to gentrification? And when I ask this question, I am not speaking in reference of those moving families out. I am talking about the opportunities that may present itself in the new poor communities. Because the great thing about NYC or other major metropolitan cities are the diverse people. If so much diversity is pumped into Upper Harlem and The Bronx, there is money to be made from the community through each other. Just think, from approximately 150th from east to west all the way up into the South Bronx. African Americans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, various groups from the continent of Africa, Cubans, Colombians, Mexicans, Jamaicans, Haitians, Trinidadians, Barbados, and Bahamians. Imagine the restaurants, the nightclubs, and even the schools.

The opportunities are endless, and with so much culture in a given area, tourists will now flock to these places. There’s no culture in Times Square, few on Upper West Side, few in lower Manhattan, even fewer will exist in Brooklyn and Queens; while Staten Island is too far away. And with other ethnic groups having people within them finding it hard to economically sustain, you’ll introduce more groups. Russians, Serbians, Armenians, Chinese, Greeks, Middle Eastern groups, and Indians. Upper Harlem and The Bronx will become New York City’s cultural epicenter. You see, in the end, poor people are hurt by gentrification. But there is good thing that can come of this move. Something that the people looking to move you out won’t gain from. And that is getting all these groups to work as a collective. Poverty can become prosperity if the poor work together. If not, an opportunity will be missed.

NO POINT TO PROVE: HOW HAVING SOMETHING TO LOSE IS BASED ON SOMETHING TO LOSE

Image result for WINS LOSSES

“Don’t feel you have to prove yourself to nobody’s.”

Having something to lose is really important in our society. Not just in our society today, in the past and in the future. So why do so many people operate with this mindset of I have noting to lose? They operate this way because they don’t see themselves going anywhere in life. And when they don’t see nothing for themselves, they could care less about you. I was just watching an interview that Jay Z conducted where he was talking about coming into the music industry for the first time. He thought then superstar Notorious B.I.G. was scared not to walk into a nightclub. But it wasn’t fear, Biggie had something to lose at that time.

And that is hard for people at the bottom or just getting into a position of power don’t realize. Having something to lose, meaning not just money, but a bigger picture. B.I.G. had a bigger vision than Jay Z was able to see at the time. Now that Jay is where he is now he understands the bigger picture. And income along with socioeconomic have a lot do with having something to lose. Like I recently said, not just money alone, but money is a motivator. Yes, there are things that are bigger than money, yet monetary decisions are closely related to having something to lose. But who with money is effected by this losing or winning in society. In my opinion, athletes and entertainers are two groups of people that largely fall into this category. And a lot of times it’s public figures from poor backgrounds.

For example, the NFL draft just took place this past weekend and there were a lot of athletes from underprivileged backgrounds. They don’t understand how their lives are about to change soon as they sign that contract. And I am not saying just going places without being noticed. I mean the people you associate with in life. Everything you do is under a microscope. So if people are around you, they have to shift how they behave to be in your environment now. And the question is are they willing to do so? Are they willing to change themselves to help you persevere? Because with them around, now you become a babysitter. Whatever they do, you take the punishment for. For instance, NFL player Adam “Pacman” Jones friend shoots someone at a nightclub. Adam is nowhere around, but the fact the guy is with you is enough for you to get punished.

If you told some of these guys that they now are responsible for whatever the people around them do, they would have second thoughts about being athletes. And the reason for this change is because you are not just some guy running a football. You’re not some musician making beats and singing, or acting in a movie. You become a brand, a figure for young people to look up to, and an investment for people who sign you to a contract. Some people say, I’m still me, but you’re not you anymore. You have this light on you, where you can’t be you. You are expected to be more than just you. Your morals and ethics go out the door, and it is more about the organization you represent; their morals.

In the end, your life will shift with every level of increase in life. You have no other choice, because with the good comes the downside. There is no all good in life. And change is can be hard, but not all change is bad. Sometimes growth is needed and must take place to make you a better you.

VISION: WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF

Image result for VISION

“Ever get upset because they don’t know quite like you know?”

It’s tough when you close your eyes and you see that something. That something in life that no one else sees but you. It’s tough because a vision is only seen by the person and no one else until there is an execution of the vision. Ever go to sleep and wake up with an explanation of what you dreamt about? People look you in the face and have that confused stare. In your mind you see a vivid fantasy world, but to them you just sound utterly ridiculous. So why? Why is it so hard for the people around you, or even the people you try to convince in society to invest in you and your vision?

For starters, people want to know that you are serious about your craft. The dominant society could care less because to them you’re just another young man or woman with a pipe dream. They ignore because we all know that most won’t attempt to execute the plan. It will wind-up being some distraction that allows people to continue to go through life existing. And existing is easier than executing because there is less risk of failure and heartache. Which is another reason it’s hard for people to recognize your vision. They know that most will give up and quit from the level of difficulty.

Which brings us to the next reason why it’s hard for people to see your vision. All talk and no movement. Most people talk a good game, but then it’s time to execute, its a totally different ball game. Sitting in front of people sharing all these visions is easy when you’re actually putting in the work. Talking it up is good and everything, but what about the time put into the project. That’s when the excuses start to arise. “You see, I have to work.” “I need it to be perfect.” Its like what are you waiting for, winning the lottery. Create something, anything to give people an insight into what you’re trying to do in life. But we all know in the end you were never going to do it anyways. Something like I said before, keeping you distracted from your daily existence.

But there is another side to the vision not being seen by others. There is the hate you receive because someone does not possess the talents you do. To a degree, we know some true talent when we see it. And if someone has traveled down your road and it didn’t work for them, they will give you all the reasons not to yourself. It’s almost as if they are silently saying, “I tried it, and I know I’m better than you.” “And if it didn’t work for me, I know you’re not going to perform well.” These are people who are the result of not having the it factor they thought they possessed. They thought in their minds, I know I’m great, but it didn’t quite pan out that way. So the taste of soar grapes fill the inside of their mouths just hearing you explain your vision.

This brings me to my last reason why it’s so hard for others to see your vision. Why is it so hard? Because maybe, just maybe you’re not that good at what you are doing. There was a famous quote by Helen Keller where she stated, “I would have rather to have been born blind than to have sight and lack vision. Everything in our minds sound great, but what about to the masses. I challenge you to create something. Then put it out there for the world to consume. Most people can’t deal with the rejection, requiring them to go back and get better. That’s at times what they need is to get better. But the ego gets in the way and leads to the demise of their potential growth.

In the end, we all just want someone to believe in us. Believe in whatever it is that motivates us to wake up each and every day. That thing, that burning feeling, that internal sensation that gets us going. That felling when you can see it, taste, and now all you have to do know is touch it. But that vision most often must be cultivated and grown by not just you, but people willing to invest in your ideas. My advice, start small, work it, and rework; then rework it, and rework some more. And once you’ve done that rework it some more. Because a vision, without the combination of consistency and a lack of clear goals lead to resentment. Ultimately it will manifest itself in how you see yourself and how you live your life.
