GIVING UP IS NOT A SOLUTION

“Keeping trekking along.”

WHEN IT HURTS MOST

Wanting to give up is something so many people pursuing their career feel like doing. But for some reason there is something that is holding you from doing this, and that is your drive. And it’s a good thing because quitting should be the absolute last resort. It should be the thing last on your list once you have tried everything and finally you have to give up. Especially if this is something you are good at and getting better. But the reality is most people do give in to the climb because it is so difficult.  It’s like the quote by Thomas Edison that, “many of life’s failures don’t realize how close they were to success when they finally gave up.” Such a strong and powerful quote that I live by in life.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM

Somewhere in your head is this feeling of dejection. We don’t know where it comes from, but it is always there lingering. And the reason we have this in our heads is to give us the ability to back away from danger. It has helped keep us alive on this planet for so long. But the reality behind succeeding in society is you have to take risk and be fearless. Even if you fear which most people do, you have to trick yourself into getting out of that mind-frame. We all have it, even the most motivating people have fears. They just do a good job at shifting their attention on to keep pushing. Now, that thing that has kept us alive, there are always the ones that are fearless that have pushed the world forward.

STRAP IN FOR THE LONG HAUL

Success in life is a long long road to where it is you want to truly be. You have to be patient and know that it will take a very long time. And when I say long time, we are talking 10 years, 15 years, even 20 years more most. So if you are only a few years in and feel like falling off, then you are in trouble because everything will be painful and take a long time.

APPRECIATING THE SPACE YOU ARE IN

“Keep your eyes on you.”

YOUR GOAL IS THE GOAL

Far too often people are looking over at what other people are doing and how they are building their futures. And they are not grateful enough of where they are at by doing so. Plus, sometimes who can blame them when you have a social media platform that is a constant reminder of how awful your life is in the world. Because you just have a mundane life and everyone is doing something so much better. Then again so many people lie about their great lives on social media. But this is more than just that, it’s people who frown on why they are not where others are in life. Some even will squander a blessing because they feel they deserve more than the person with more.

KNOW WHEN TO CASH OUT

Life success is not only about building, but sometimes you have to know when to throw in the towel. And a lot of people just don’t know when to throw the towel in this thing called life. You will win $100 million in prize money, but another person will win $500 million. That is their winnings, but don’t throw away your ticket. Sometimes you just have to cash out here in life. And look at the bright side, most people don’t get even a small percentage of $100 million. But it’s something about people not seeing themselves that they won’t cash out, but throw the ticket away.

NEVER GOOD ENOUGH

There is always someone better than you at something. So if you are constantly comparing yourself and looking at another person’s success, you never can live the space you have carved out for yourself. And trust and believe, someone would love to swap places with you. That person might also be close to catching you as well. So why you’re comparing yourself to others, the person behind you might pass you and now you’re even further from the top.

CROSS COUNTRY CAREER: WHEN FAMILY IS NUMBER 2

Image result for FAMILY CAREER

“Which comes first?”

BALANCING ACTS

When you are working toward your career and trying to make strides in building, you miss out on a lot. As a matter of fact, what happens when you are from an entirely different part of the country? Like myself, I am from the Midwest, so I miss on quite a bit. But it is what it is, you’re working your regular day job. You can’t just say, “Hey, I’ll hop a flight back home and come back tomorrow.” It’s just not realistic to think you can live like this. You just have to come back when you come back. And your family has to realize that you are not close and have to see them later. But then again, you’re not the only person who probably lives far away.

THE NEW NORMAL

More and more young people are moving away from home. It’s because to find work, some people have to move away since work may be hard to come by in some places. Families are also becoming a lot more fragmented because of the shift. Yet, it is considered normal and most families are fine with it. I myself often think about the family far away, but they even understand. Considering the place where I come from is so poor. The work is rare, so you have to make moves in your life.

GOTTA DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO

I know it hurts, but you have to make those moves to build your life. You can’t be afraid to have a career because you’re worried about leaving family. If you live in a city where you don’t have to move fine, but sometimes you have to go. Realize there is nothing where you are, and make adjustments to leaving. So, be well, and good luck on your journey.

WORKING SMART NOT HARD: WHAT TO DO NOT HOW LONG YOU WORK ON IT

Grayscale Photography of Man Stretching on Chair in Front Computer Monitor

“Doesn’t take all day to get the job done.”

pulling long hours

You might think that working for hours on hours will be the best way to ensure you become successful in your career. But the reality is that working smarter doesn’t always mean the one who works more time. Because you have to think about what your time is spent doing. For me, my long hours are not continuous work. My long hours is me trying to come up wit ideas for writing and also putting together my various projects I will be working on throughout this year. So that is the long hours that I spend in the computer lab. All the while I am working my day job in pursuit of my dreams in life.

keeping an open sound mind

My mind is open, so open that when I am writing I have to be careful that it does not wonder too much. Since I am creative writing, I like to get into these scenarios when I am writing, and tend to go off and lose my time. There have been times I have been locked into a scenario for hours and didn’t realize the time lost until the sun was going down. So this may be a case of working smart because I am into the scenario. But at the same time, if nothing is written then you can realistically say that time was lost and that wasn’t smart at all. It’s why I try to manage my time by keeping my mind focus.

what’s the task

You may be sitting down working on trying to complete your task. But you have to think to yourself what it is you’re exactly putting all this time and effort into to make better. The task that you are working on has to be worth the energy otherwise it’s considered lost productivity. And when the productive time is lost, it was a waste to even sit down in the first place. So know that the there is a sound problem that is worth you tackling before continuing forward.

IT IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT: HOWEVER SUCCESSFUL YOU ARE OR WILL BE IS DETERMINED BY YOUR INPUT

Store Facade

“Your business, your work.”

is it in you

The Gatorade slogan above is asking the question of do you have what it takes. And that does not have to be sports, it can be anything in life. And since this is the month for business, I am asking do you have what it takes to make your business work over the long haul? Or better yet, what it becomes is solely up to the amount of work you put into it. You want to grow a business into a company that will do big numbers, then you better figure out a plan to build that business. Because you are going to have to have a sound plan over a long period of time.

dreams are just dreams

We close our eyes, and see our small business as bigger than what it is. You open a beauty salon, and want to one day have salons across the country. But what you will do in this one salon will say a lot about how you are going to build your next three. And those four will say a lot about how you plan on building your next five to ten. Because the dream is just a dream unless there is a plan put in place that will be used to execute each and everyday. But without a sound plan those dreams will soon wither away into anger and frustration.

down in the dumps

I have felt this point in my life where I have hit a wall and it is hard for me to get past or over this wall. And this will be a defining moment where you can either sink or continue to swim. And that is why it is important you build from the bottom so you know how to get over this point. And example would be someone who lucked up and became famous from a video on Instagram. Next thing you know they are everywhere. Then in less than a year you never hear from them again. The reason being is that they didn’t build to that point. They got lucky from a video, but then hit a hard time and couldn’t regain. People who climb rarely fall after a hard time because they have been there before.
