I WAS HERE NOW I’M THERE: HOW IMAGINING YOURSELF IN A BETTER PLACE CONTRIBUTES TO GROWTH

“Think of a place far away from here.”

Whenever I am working on a particular project and need some form of motivation, I always go to a safe space. A quiet space, and that is in my head, while walking the streets of New York City. Now that sounds funny that I would say a safe and quiet space walking the streets of New York City. But I often find solace when there is a nice day outside and I am moving boutique, clothes, clothing
about the streets. To keep myself motivated moving forward, some picture themselves on a luxury resort, while I picture myself walking through the various stores. Stores that are high end fashion boutiques or driving a luxury vehicle around the city.

What’s interesting is that I am not this person who even remotely like being seen with that type of attention. But I do find that thinking about having those things tends to be very motivating. It also keeps me working hard toward what I could potentially have one day. Now like I said, having the means to buy whatever I want, I most likely wouldn’t buy a lot of these  automatic, automobile, automotivegoods, but you would be surprised with what motivates you and how. Now that is something odd, how am I motivated to continue to grow by way of something I think of having yet don’t really want in the end. It’s because the images I conjure up in my mind are sometimes better than the real thing.

Owning a 10,000 square foot house and driving a fleet of luxury vehicles seem appealing to the eye and ear. And a lot of that comes from a place of not having so much, you are motivated to have a lot. Yet my real goal is philanthropy, but I never really have philanthropy motivating images to propel me forward. You know, it’s quite interesting the things that will get you going to succeed in life and how they get you going. Even when you have no interest in wanting them, it’s something that keeps you working toward it.

SNAPPING THE CATWALK: WHY THE IMAGERY IS COOLER THAN THE DESIGNERS

Image result for colorful fashion

“The colour of fashion.”

In the recent months, as I work on my next indie short film, I have taken an interest in photography. And what type of photography, fashion photography. The reason for photography is because it keeps me in that creative aspect of life as I work on my films, screenplays, playwrights, books, and blog posts. But most of all, I love the blend of colors that are used in fashion, and not necessarily the designer. In the world of fashion, people are so into designers, but I like imagery of the photo shoots. So once I am finished with my second short film, I am going to delve into photography while I continue to write. Because as an artist, you must learn to keep your mind and options open. A good filmmaker is talented in other areas of interest which makes the filmmaking process that much more interesting.

Currently the fashion week event is being held in Paris, France, and while people are focused on the runway, I have been looking at the pictures people post. What is it about colors that stand out to me? I love how using colors we can tell a story, even the mood in a scene of some sort. How we use bright or even illuminating colors when observing a heightened mood, but more dull and dark colors in a mood in which the person is depicted in a sunken place. But for me, I would like to depict people vice verse at times, where people in a good mood can be outfitted in dark attire, while Image result for fashion photographysomething lively and joyful is dark in nature. How to get your point across using this could be tough with photography because the brain receives information through the eye and tells us how to feel about a particular situation. Now the photo attached to this paragraph that I found on the internet is of a woman with the colors which are dark in nature. She is seen through the eye as provocative, and might aim at trying to appeal to the viewer sexually. But she could very well be dancing at a nightclub having fun and was captured in a sexy moment.

Now was that the intent of the photography was to catch her in a sexy and provocative moment? Only the the one taking the picture knows. But the above photo is a perfect example of how our minds are manipulated into thinking that what we see means what it is supposed to mean. Now what about the photo that is attached to this paragraph. This Image result for fashion photographyis a photo by photography Jeff Tse, who takes photography up close to show the expression of a certain aspect of the human face of an emotion perceived. The photo is bright and colorful, but the woman may not feel as such. She could appear happy, but the colorful flower over her eye could be her hiding a scar or wound.

See, in the end, the same emotion you want to evoke on film applies to photography. And the still imagery paid attention to frame by frame, could make the imagery of the story being told flow through motion picture. All I know is that 2018 is going to be an upside year for me. Now I am learning, but with my understanding of space, imagery, blocking, already via film, I think I can step up to the learning curb quicker in photography.

COLOURS: WHY I HAVE DECIDED TO GET INTO PHOTOGRAPHY

adult, Analogue, aperture

“The art direction and production design: practice in lieu of filmmaking.”

I am currently in the process of making my second short film. In the meantime, I am working on this blog, writing my novel & book of short stories, and thinking about what screenplay to write next. But filmmaking is so much of a hustle that I am going to need a consistent pay. But I don’t want to be out of the groove of things as it pertains to the artistic aspect of filmmaking. And that’s when it hit me, photography. And not necessarily because I am a huge fan of photography itself. It’s the artistic direction, the production design, and the person being shot in frame. Lately, I have been interested in the fashion world’s photographic imaging.

I guess you wonder, what does this have to do with filmmaking. To me, a lot; it has a lot to do with making film simply because of the in frame imagery. Not long ago I sat down and started coming up with ideas for various photo shoots that drive that imagery out of me. And the reason why I felt close to fashion is because of the artistic direction that is similar to the picturesque look I want to achieve through film. I love the use of colors in telling a story. And being able to tell a story through imagery is is like putting together my storyboarding. What’s interesting is that photographers have a story board process as well. Another type of photography interesting to me is food photography.

You ever been driving down the road and see a billboard. Or better yet walking down the street and your eye catch the sight of a sign out front of a restaurant. The photo on the billboard or signage on the street has always been of interest to blur, breakfast, close-upme. I always wanted to know the process of how they achieve the look they do for the food. Then I did a little research and found how they set everything up. The process is just as interesting. Even when photographing a meal, you are telling a story in that frame. Which is yet another reason why I have come to respect photography.

And in the end, that is my real connection to photography. Being able to tell a story in pictures is what you must do after writing your script. Explain in pictures/animation what you are aiming to achieve with this script. This will aid in working with your artistic director and production designer. So for me, like I said earlier, fashion has that interesting artistic and production aspect I find interesting. Because it’s the combination of the look of the photos, background, and clothing worn by the models. Hopefully the journey to where I want to be is as enjoyable as it has been so far.
