“Vote for the peoples’ good.”

generation good

As I walk the streets of New York City, you start to see a generation that is already starting to bring to the forefront a movement of their own. And that generation is a young group of high school kids that are very much so into the green push. They are geared toward not only a nonviolent society, but they are into the well-being of nature. These young people are promoting the nurturing and preservation of our planet. Not long ago there was a rally to promote more of a checks and balancing of how our civilization should watch over the burning of fossil fuels. Which ultimately is leading to global warming and a shift in our climate.

where does it come from

When you look at the climate of politics, we always look at how everyone is going after Donald Trump, but it is seen as an adult push. Not many young kids really care because they witnessed Obama but don’t quite understand the push right now. So to them it could be seen as not their agenda, so they want their own young agenda. And Donald Trump may not be seen as something they are concerned about. And with the climate change, not many adults are interested in this agenda. Now there is a lane for them to be apart of. How do you not go with them, considering there are a lot of problems with the climate change.

Each winter it seems like things are getter warmer and warmer. Here in New York City, I only remember getting a small amount of snow. And yes, the winter was still cold, but the fact that snow is disappearing means something more sinister. So yes, there is something to be said about how our climate is changing. And once that happens, melting polar ice is releasing in the ice bacteria that have been foreign to our species for thousands of years. And the majority of these bacteria there are no cures for because they have been unknown for so long.

“Too much power for man to have.”

The climate in the world is quite unpredictable, especially in today’s society. We are in the middle of the winter, and New York City has only has about 1.5 weeks of snow. So, since we are effecting the climate anyways, why not work one day to effect it in a good way. Will there ever come a time where we can effectively control the climate ourselves. Now this would mean reaching a certain level of Type Civilization that no man is risen to. Right now, we are not even a Type 1 Civilization, but controlling temperature and climate would mean well past Type 3. But what could a controlled climate mean to Earth.

upsides, but not without downsides

We think about all the good that could potentially come from having the ability to control the climate. But what about the downsides of controlling the climate? We are sitting here thinking to ourselves, “Oh man, fun in in the sun, no more winters.” But we have four seasons on this Earth for a reason. And if we could control temperature to make the seasons what we want them to be, then you’re talking rising sea levels because of melting polar ice. We already know that whole cities over the next few hundred years will be gone anyways. So what would controlling the temperature bring?

just a dream, that’s all

Now, the ideas of controlling the climate is a big dream. Because like I said earlier, we not even a Type 1 civilization yet. So to reach the scale of controlling climate, we most likely won’t reach that level. But we are doing climate control in a very ineffective way already. The burning of fossil fuels that has warmed the Earth and forcing polar ice to melt. These massive polar ices are causing rising sea levels. As well as introducing a host of potential diseases in their wake.

“And then it was us.”

Species of living creatures have been rapidly declining over the planet. As a matter of fact, 99.9 percent of every living things has already become extinct. So the fact that there are so many people on this planet consuming so many resources that we haven’t run out is a miracle. But one reason why we as people are able to sustain is because of scientifically modified crops and livestock. Unlike any other species, we are able to engineer food for ourselves. But with technology increasing to scale, everything around us is shrinking, meaning smaller populations. So man will hit a point where our numbers will begin to decline. But will we vanish completely before the big asteroid hits us or the sun envelopes the Earth.

One obvious way in which we vanish is through war. Now, the reason this quickly gets ruled out is because the world powers would immediately step in to keep that from happening. Now that leaves a few other scenarios. One of which is extraterrestrial, and I strongly disagree with aliens taking out the human species from space through an invasion. But there are some viable ways that humanity could become extinct.

    • An extreme shortage of food could lead to the end of mankind. Especially if we get to a place where people start to consume like Americas. We would need at least four planet Earths if everyone lived like Americans. There have already been initiatives to save lives of people impacted by famine in places like the continent of Africa, or other times in history whether it was in Latin America, Europe, or the far east.

    • This is the next deadly end of humanity. And might be even more detrimental than famine. And it’s because we have no cures for viruses because viruses are so similar to the host cell membrane. That means that a lot viruses could very well have been ancient illnesses that man escaped some how in the past reintroducing themselves now. HIV, Herpes, Ebola, and Hepatitis B could have been around going back during our strong evolutionary stages. Just imagine if HIV were to adapt and become contagious like the cold flu, the trouble man would be in on this planet.

    • We never really think of a chemical end, but look at what happened in Chernobyl in Russia. That whole entire area is so radioactive that it will take many many years before humanity can live there again. Depending on some nuclear material, people have to stay away from certain places for 3,000 – 20,000 years. You’re talking a massive amount of time where you don’t even know that humans lived here.

    • The climate shift could put us in a weird position as humans. Because polar ice is already melting causing sea levels to rise. But also, there are believed to be ancient illnesses locked in the ice that predate man. These could be set free triggering a problem bigger than the AIDS epidemic. Also, you’re talking animals that we depend on as a source of food could die off from the unpredictability of the climate or drinking from diseased waters.

    • The last of the disasters could be the big one. The one that we have always been afraid of, and that is the big rock. This would kill everything, not even bacteria could survive. You’re talking the end of Earth as we know it, forever. These are leftovers from the original big bang, including meteorites and comets. And they can vary in size to very tiny to hundreds of miles across.

So what do we do, well, the answer is nothing really. The asteroid is the most helpless event that could happen. If it hits that’s it, we’re done. But the others we have some sort of control over. It is not too late to stop dumping chemicals, keeping the climate in alliance with where it should be, protect ourselves from viruses, and decrease famine. The choice is ours, and with the direction we’re currently going, we are becoming a more conscious human species. Only thing is, will it last.

“So many capabilities, yet so little ability to stop anything.”

Throughout history, the United States has gotten hit with massive hurricanes that have left devastating damage in it’s wake. A lot has been done over time to prepare citizens for storms as Hurricanes make their way across the Atlantic Ocean. Usually, we look to the strength of the storms in the Caribbean as a measure of how strong it’s becoming before it reaches the United States Image result for hurricane caribbeanmainland of Florida. And throughout time, we have also developed forecast models that anticipate the impacts of the storms. But what we have not figured out, is how to drastically decrease the devastation. Meaning, how do we defeat mother nature at her game. Yes, we build walls using sandbags and even levees, which, judging from Hurricane Katrina don’t always work. But what about a new technological levee system that is beyond what we have currently at the moment.

And what do I mean by a levee system that is stronger than what we have at the moment? I mean a levee system that not so much serves as a wall that separates us from the water on the other side. But a system that makes water difficult to hit the mainland. And I know what people might be thinking, you can’t stop the storm Image result for future leveeswater from entering. I’m not referring to the heavy rain water and winds. I mean the water coming from the Atlantic as well as the Gulf of Mexico. How about a levee system that forces water to fill up in the water before entering the mainland flooding our American cities. Meaning, imagine a system that is built under water, so that when a city could potentially experience mass flooding, the system drops the sea floor underwater forcing water to fill there before entering the land. So, think of like a beach and water flowing on the beach/on shore.

As water from the Gulf, for example, prepares to hit Houston, an underwater mechanism drops the current water floor down further. So, another example of what I mean, if you are still confused is like a house with a porch and sidewalk. If water rises against the house, it will eventually flood the home. But if you have a mechanism built around your house that drops surrounding the house, the water will fill this moat around your property before entering your home. Now, the cost of something of this magnitude will Related imagereach in the high billions of dollars. A move that our government may not be too thrilled to act on. But when you look over time at the devastation, it is actually more costly than what we already do to prepare. It’s almost like these storms over time are getting stronger and stronger.

In the end, what will happen when a hurricane eventually exceed the category 5 that we have long deemed the biggest? Will we have to design a new ranking system, which will then force us to create better means of protecting our lives and our property? Because if we don’t, with the strength of some of these storms getting stronger, the impacts will be greater than doing nothing at all. You look at today, and the damage inflicted by Hurricane Harvey, as well as Hurricane Irma right behind Harvey, and Jose behind Irma. And with forecast models, they’re helpful, and deter a lot, but more has to be done to prepare in the future. (PERSONAL WEBSITE) (FAN PAGE)
