BELIEF IS ACTIVE: HOW OUR BELIEFS EFFECT OTHERS IN SOCIETY

Silhouette Image of Person Praying

“It’s how society should be.”

how the lord intended it to be

In America today, so much of our beliefs effect how we all live our lives. An to a degree, how other countries lives, especially if they are allies can have an effect as well. When you believe something to be true, no matter what, people are going to push their will on society. We don’t just do it for religion, we do it for other things as well. If I want to live my life a certain way and others around agree, you are forced to fall in line. And what’s crazy is that living in America you should have the freedom to not be apart of something if you shall choose. But if you don’t align yourself with the status quo, then you will find yourself in a tough jam. The thing is, why do we care so much about each others’ beliefs?

the psychology of man

The reason humans have to enforce will has to do with us as a creature. As a creature we are endowed with the ability to have beliefs and have free-will. And for some reason, we seem to think that since we have these things it is supposed to mean something. When in reality what we believe to be true and what is actually true is different. I would love to believe a lot of things in our world, but the reality is, I have to decipher what is more important. So many people refuse to admit that a lot of what we believe is just not valid. If you have ten beliefs, only three are important. But then you get into this argument of well who gives you the right. Then from there is if it’s not important, why do I feel this way? So you just let them ramble, and as long as they don’t negatively effect society, you leave them be. Because it is only their lives they waste by jamming everything into their lives.

evolution says a lot

Being the carbon based lifeforms that we are, we learn and grow and understand the world around us. So the more we learn about self, the more we realize how complex the mind is, but how mundane we live and behave. So a lot of human beliefs are actually falling apart. Well at least the ones we have come to know over time. Because you cannot expect us to carry the same thoughts forever on Earth. So what happens is new ones replace outdated ones. So who knows in the future what the new-new-new ones will be.

GOVERNING SENTIMENT: WHY LEGISLATING FEELINGS IS DANGEROUS FOR AMERICA

Image result for US CONGRESS

“I feel therefore it should mean something.”

In the United States today, we are constantly in these debates on what you can and cannot say. No matter if it’s in a public space or in private; we tend to disagree with the language. But are we just attacking the language, or is it something more? I have come to the conclusion that it’s not the language per se, it’s more so the sentiment. And then we get into the debate in how one should feel in regards to dealing with other people in society. But you can’t have a country where there is a governing of sentiment. Because whose to say how you feel is the right way when feelings can be so ambiguous.

I posted a recent article pertaining to the differences and similarities between former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and political commentator/author Anne Coulter. How sentiment forced both of them to be locked out of career opportunities because of their stance. Only difference is that Colin was employed on a team and Anne is self-employed. But neither one of them broke any laws. And both were compliant with how they expressed themselves; staying in alliance with their first amendment rights. But the actions of people and how they felt is what effected Colin and Anne. Although people might argue against my point on why Anne said what she said, Colin did what he did, it doesn’t matter. The right to take an action that is within the law was infringed upon.

But what about people in our society. We are so dishonest on how we really feel, and we also are quite selective in what makes us upset. Someone on the left and the right will say their rights are under attack. Yet they are willing to stand in the way of each other’s rights because of how it makes the person/people feel. My real reasons why people are so willing to go against what they feel is wrong is because of how they look at their own lives. The less satisfied you are with your own life, the more willing you are to infringe upon someone else’s life. Anything so someone knows what it’s like to be you. Also, the changes in people’s lives creates a moment to moment sentiment. Which is a main reason why legislating feelings can cause so many problems. Laws are supposed to be resolute, and changed only under drastic measures. The following examples is why you can’t govern sentiment.

I am a Conservative Christian, who believes Gay marriage is wrong. Allowing Gays to marry goes against my Christian beliefs. So therefore we should legislate against Gays ability to get married. Gays state that this is wrong to legislate for this person/people because of the sentiment under a belief that is based around faith, not fact. But here is a flip side example. I am a Liberal Gay man, and the fact that you would say Gay marriage is wrong, you should lose your job. Now anti-gay sentiment is not illegal, but you should lose your job from the sentiment alone. Both examples at the top is why government can’t legislate feelings. Because in the end, whose to say how you feel is always right. As a matter of fact, it might be just as dangerous. Another main reason the government shouldn’t legislate feelings is because feelings shift so much. Law should be more resolute, and not constantly changing. So for now, as it pertains to discussion, everything is on the table.

CHURCH AND STATE: WHY RELIGION SHOULDN’T ENTER CERTAIN REALMS OF SOCIETY

Image result for CHURCH AND STATE

“Too many contradictions to have both coexist.”

The conversation regarding church and the state has been a topic of debate for decades. Should we include the religious practices of the Christian faith into our schools, workplace, or even leisure activities? And I for one am against the involvement of religious practices into our daily lives on these levels. Not because I have an issue with Christianity, but mainly because the people aspect of what could come of it. People are fine with God entering all of our lives so long as it does not interfere with whatever it is that benefits their lives. This is a key reason why we have the separation of church and state. Well, let’s go a little further into what I mean by benefits their lives.

When sending your child to school, you want and expect them to receive an education that is based in academia. The obvious reason why religion in school wouldn’t work is because you don’t have children at your schools that all believe the Christian faith. But another thing that people don’t think about is the idea that we have many sects of the Christian faith. So let’s sayauditorium, benches, chairs we do put Christianity in schools. What sect of Christianity: Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic, Pentecostal, or Johovah Witness? Here is where even more fighting could possibly take place. Because the way in which each of the above sects serve God is different. So even with Christ in schools, not all Christians worship the same.

What about the use of Christianity in our laws? Here is the problem with laws in our society. It’s easy to say, “Thou shall not kill.” But what about laws such as, “Thou shall not commit adultery.” If you ask anyone do they cheat, they’ll say no. But if you make it a law, people will fight for their right to cheat. It will be fought under the guides of “everyone makes mistakes.” But White Concrete Structurescheating is not a mistake. You don’t mistakenly sleep with another person. You mistakenly spill a cup of coffee, but you know you are in a relationship. Cheating is thinking you’re getting away with something. Well because cheating is human nature. But if the bible speaks against this human nature, can you make it law? That’s why structuring laws around religion can be dangerous.

Another place where we separate the church and state decisions are in the workplace. Everything from how you dress, to both genders working side by side. Christianity has something designed around the workplace. And you really start to run into issues, even more than children going to school. Because you have adults policing other adults who live the same way. AndMan Wearing Red While Sitting Inside Concrete Bulding what do I mean by the same way. For example, I am a male boss telling a woman what to wear. But the tables are turned the moment another man tries to enforce his will onto our wives, sisters, and daughters. We are comfortable telling other women what to do, just no one telling those close to us the same.

And in the end, all of what I have explained is the reasons why church and state have to be separated. Because when I do something you feel go against the bible it’s a sin. When you are now doing something that goes against the bible, it becomes either nobody is perfect, or the God I worship doesn’t judge. You can’t say abortion is wrong, then conduct research and abortions are up in the communities pushing against abortion. You can’t say wait until you’re married for sex, and then we find out you have been married for five years, yet you have a seven year old child. It’s the hypocrisy of us as people as to why we have to, and will always keep church and state separate.

BELIEF IS ACTIVE: WHAT YOUR FAITH SAYS ABOUT YOU

Image result for FAITH

“Believing in you, inside and out.”

What does faith mean to you? What does having a belief system mean to you? Is it important to have a faith base in our society or not? And when I say faith base, it does not necessarily have to be religious. I always find it odd when I hear people who have no faith. Now, when I say faith, like I said before, does not have to be religious. They can simply have faith in the idea of waking up tomorrow morning. But there are people in society that don’t even have that much. What does that say about a person who believes in nothing? What goes on inside of their minds on a daily?

Let’s first observe how people of a religious mind think for just one second. These are the people who either verbally or non-verbally express their thanks. They thank God for giving them yet another day on Earth. They pray that God gives them strength to get through the day. And they also pray that add the end of the day, he gives them yet another day tomorrow. So, to these people, they believe that there is a force, a deity rather, that is so strong it is above them. It is a force from the hand of God which places them in their situation of good spirits, good health, and an overall, good life. Because without him, they could not make it through the day. But what about other viewpoints?

What about the people who believe in their own personal selves outside the realm of a deity. They wake up optimistic no matter how rough the day might turn out. To these people, their belief in their capabilities will propel them forward. And their held belief in self is what makes up their overall faith base. They are generally people who deeply understand their own mortality. They realize that the end is inevitable, and it gives them a sense of urgency in life. “Go for the gusto,” they say to themselves. Because when the lights go out, they’re out forever. Make this one life count because it’s the only one you have to live. And believing in self at times can be just as strong if not stronger than your religious faith base.

But what about the people who don’t have anything they believe in or look toward? They are the people who just work and live to just exist. Luckily for me, I have something that keeps me going in life. That something to believe in, gives me hope and I have faith in my personal success. But there are people who live and then they die. Never in life experiencing anything remotely good or of pleasure. What does that say about them? What happened in their lives that they have no belief in anything? Not religion, not themselves, not other people, not even other living organisms. They have absolutely nothing to look forward to in life. And those are the people who are of the more depressed bunch.

Not having any faith is odd to me because what is your purpose. And I don’t mean just career, but existence. They refuse to commit suicide, well most don’t, so why exist. What is it that keeps them waking up? For most, it’s hopefully things will get better in life even if they don’t. And just like that, belief; just like that, faith. See, in the end, I don’t think that we have all these people who lack faith or belief. If we did, suicides would be of grave concern in society. The fact that people don’t take their own lives is belief that life may get better. Even as miniscule as it might seem, there is something there. An ember of some sort; if only the person could harness that ember and move on from that point, they might actually attain happiness.

CONSPIRACY TRUTHER: WHY IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE THE CONSPIRACY THEORISTS

Image result for conspiracy

“Maybe the conspiracy guys are a little off in their thinking.”

In my life, I have heard the different conspiracy theories regarding major events that have taken place that have reshaped our society. And when I say major events I’m referring to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, 9/11 terrorist attacks, or even going far back as the Kennedy assassination. There have and will always be these conspiracy theorists who feel the people have been duped. Duped, yet they have the real answers as to what actually took place. But do they really have all the answers? Are they so convinced that they are now going down a rabbit hole like the people they attack. I have come to a conclusion regarding conspiracy theorists.

As with any belief in anything, you have the people who are going to stand on the opposing side of the argument. Meaning, the believers that the bible is the book of the word of God. And then you have the other side that believes that the bible is just a book written by man. Now if you are seeking to discredit the bible, then the information you come up with will be strong Related imageagainst. Not just because the information might be right, but because you’re on the opposing view. So of course you will have the right answers in your mind, you’re entering with a bias view. Now, we can’t fully eliminate bias from our minds, but if your view is so strong against, you’re going to convince yourself. So what must you do if you have a strong theory.

I would suggest you not only come up with your right ways, but also the opposing view ways. Meaning, if I don’t believe 9/11 happened, present to me all the ways it could have happened. Then present to me after your way it couldn’t have happened the way the government say it did. This way, you have done the research of the yourself, and the person who you’re up against. But if you just provide your proof, then you actually sound like the opposite end of the spectrum of the person you’re talking about. That is what makes good researchers great. I’m skeptical on both sides because both are on such extreme sides. But, what is another reason why it’s so hard to believe in the theory.

The other reason it’s so hard is because the secrecy of people. To keep something of the magnitude of the events that are supposed to be cover ups is too massive to keep secret. For example, look at the guy who shot Osama Bin Laden. He could not wait to tell the world that he is the one that shot Related imageBin Laden. He is not that much different from a lot of people. When you understand what we are as a species, then you know enough to understand why we can’t hold on to something so strong. And that is proven through the conspiracy theorists. They can’t wait to figure out what is going on to thrust it onto the world. They are not that much different than the people they are saying have this elaborate scheme. Both people are proof that a secret cannot be kept in a certain group.

But there is also another aspect of why conspiracy theories are so hard to believe, and that is the brilliance of our system. I wish the people in our system was as smart as the theorist make them out to be. But when you observe on a daily basis their productivity, you just can’t help but to further question the theorists. You listen to the conspiracy and the theorists are smarter than the people they are chasing after. Don’t get me wrong, I do think there are people who have been set up by government. But the level of ingenuity doesn’t exist in our government. If Apple or Microsoft wanted to pull off a conspiracy I am more apt to believe it than the government.

In the end, the conspiracy is hard to believe because the credit given to the conspirators are too much. It’s hard for so many people to believe in the truth as well because it means we are vulnerable. It means that we are not as smart as we think we are; and the conspiracy gives validity to people we assume know better. Because if they are lost and they are the leaders, then where does that leave the rest of society.

UNLOCKING TALENTS: EVERYONE HAS THEM YET FEW UTILIZE THEM

Image result for talents

“Why most of us will miss the opportunity.”

When we are all born, it’s hard to gauge what we’re going to be as adults. But nonetheless, I think we all have something that we are born with that makes us not only us, but could make us successful. Unlocking this means having some level of self-awareness. When you become self-aware, then you’re able to unlock this inner talent. In addition to unlocking this inner talent, one must also work at this talent to define greatness. So why don’t we have more people who are able to become successful in life? Better yet, why are so many people unable to tap into this inner talent that we possess? And to me, a lot of it has to with fears.

That’s right fears! I know we always hear the same thing over and over again. You work hard, but what does that really mean? You can work 10 hours a day, 7 days per week, for years and not attain what you work toward. To me, what is for you is for you. You shouldn’t pursue the dream, but the reality instead. Meaning just because we want to do something does not mean it is for us. It may not be that inner talent you possess. And most people are wired to conform out of fear; fear of failure is major and fear of letting others down. We don’t want to try something, fall and not be able to get back up. So we live in a trance in our daily lives until we die. Hoping something will happen, a stroke of luck that will set us free.

But the fears are so detrimental because if actually pursued what you were meant to do, it could actually create a positive externality in society. For example, you want so dearly to be an actress, but you are a wiz at science. You could go on to become the Meryl Streep of physicians. Who knows, it could formulate into a Nobel Prize for Science. But we become afraid, or disinterested in that thing that resonates with us. You have people who become school teachers who are better litigators, or engineers who could be the next Vincent van Gogh. Missing the opportunity to unlock that talent is of great tragedy.

It’s a tragedy because people look at the top people in their field or another field and say, “How did you do it?” As if you’re this special human on Earth. The reality is they unlocked their talent because they are self-aware. It’s hard to describe because it is a non-verbal oh, ok moment. What do I mean by non-verbal oh ok. Meaning, something will happen in life that you will come in contact with, and you go, “Oh,” or you say to yourself, “Oh, ok, this is what this is.” It’s how your brain processes information. Once you realize how your brain processes information, you will become more self-aware. Then your thing, or talent will unlock on it’s own. Then people will say, “How did you do that?” It will be hard to described. You will want to explain, but it becomes difficult because unlocking that thing can be natural. Natural occurrences can be tough to explain at times how to perform.

In the end, talents are something all people in life possess. Yet so many miss their window to capitalize. For a lot of people it’s fear of pursuing out of failure or letting down others. But when you waste your talent you let down more people than if you don’t pursue. You let down a potential generation that could take a cue from you and build from there. But then there are the people who never unlock their inner knowledge. They spend their entire lives not knowing themselves. So they are unable to succeed in life and ultimately die not knowing and not going anywhere.

TO BELIEVE OR NOT TO BELIEVE: CHALLENGING YOUR BELIEFS

Image result for BELIEF

“How are you of a belief if you’ve never challenged the belief?”

The above photo that I am using to describe beliefs being challenged does not only extend to religion, but other areas of interest as well. Though religion is a big part of beliefs in our society. Our religious beliefs have shaped how we write laws, design policy, rear children, joining together in marriage, and even the consumption of our diets. But how many of us challenge our beliefs? How many of us question why we truly believe something? How many of us can honestly say we believe in the preaching and teachings of ones’ faith base? Easier said than done, especially with a lifeform that has so much free will.

So how is it possible to believe in something without questioning why you believe? Better yet, why is it so hard for people to even ask the question? The main reason in my opinion, is that we are afraid of the burden of proof. That burden of proof can be broken down into a simple word, LOGIC. We hate having open dialogue because we fear someone might say something that goes against our belief. But, not only go against, provides hard proof that forces us to shift our beliefs. No one wants to believe their belief is false. Yet we are finding out new things about our being on this Earth each and every day.

Which brings me to another reason why people find it hard to challenge beliefs, They don’t want to live with the idea that what they believe might force them to change. It’s the whole do as I say, not as I do mentality. Why not we both do as we do. Then the person says, “Well, nobody’s perfect.” It gives them an excuse to keep doing wrong while chastising you. But why do we do it? Why do we chastise others while we are not living our own truths. One reason is that looking from afar, we can feel better about ourselves knowing someone else is just as screwed up as us. We say to ourselves, “Rich folks just as crazy as poor folks.” But have you ever questioned why it truly feels good to like something through someone else’s shortcomings?

Something else besides looking at their shortcomings that makes us feel better is the another internal issue. That issue is that if they don’t have problems, and I do, it makes me look at myself through a magnifying glass at my lack of capabilities. Meaning, some people believe man did not go to the moon. For some reason it’s hard to believe there are people this smart in our society with failing civilizations. It’s almost like we say, “If we had that genius we would cure this or fix that.” But the fact of the matter is that my intellect does not extend to society being fixed. My intellect is my intellect; and if I choose to share it with the world then fine, if not so be it.

In the end, we believe the things we believe because man has a fascination with self. We feel that since we believe something it must be true. When the fact of the matter is, the majority of our beliefs are not true. Reality is that we just don’t know as much as we think we do. People in religion says man is always trying to play God. But man is believed to have been around 1.2 million years through evolution. And yet we are only a Type .79 civilization on a possible Type 6 (THE POWERS OF GOD). The human brain is quite complex, so much so, we at can’t comprehend where some of our beliefs at times do come from. But only challenging why you feel a certain why will change society. Nonetheless, we continue on, in our beliefs, until something actually does happen that forces us to change course.
