GONE FOREVER: HOW LONG BEFORE WE ARE EXTINCT AS HUMANS

“And then it was us.”

DISAPPEARING

Species of living creatures have been rapidly declining over the planet. As a matter of fact, 99.9 percent of every living things has already become extinct. So the fact that there are so many people on this planet consuming so many resources that we haven’t run out is a miracle. But one reason why we as people are able to sustain is because of scientifically modified crops and livestock. Unlike any other species, we are able to engineer food for ourselves. But with technology increasing to scale, everything around us is shrinking, meaning smaller populations. So man will hit a point where our numbers will begin to decline. But will we vanish completely before the big asteroid hits us or the sun envelopes the Earth.

HOW DO WE LEAVE

One obvious way in which we vanish is through war. Now, the reason this quickly gets ruled out is because the world powers would immediately step in to keep that from happening. Now that leaves a few other scenarios. One of which is extraterrestrial, and I strongly disagree with aliens taking out the human species from space through an invasion. But there are some viable ways that humanity could become extinct.

  • FAMINE
    • An extreme shortage of food could lead to the end of mankind. Especially if we get to a place where people start to consume like Americas. We would need at least four planet Earths if everyone lived like Americans. There have already been initiatives to save lives of people impacted by famine in places like the continent of Africa, or other times in history whether it was in Latin America, Europe, or the far east.

  • VIRUS
    • This is the next deadly end of humanity. And might be even more detrimental than famine. And it’s because we have no cures for viruses because viruses are so similar to the host cell membrane. That means that a lot viruses could very well have been ancient illnesses that man escaped some how in the past reintroducing themselves now. HIV, Herpes, Ebola, and Hepatitis B could have been around going back during our strong evolutionary stages. Just imagine if HIV were to adapt and become contagious like the cold flu, the trouble man would be in on this planet.

  • CHEMICAL
    • We never really think of a chemical end, but look at what happened in Chernobyl in Russia. That whole entire area is so radioactive that it will take many many years before humanity can live there again. Depending on some nuclear material, people have to stay away from certain places for 3,000 – 20,000 years. You’re talking a massive amount of time where you don’t even know that humans lived here.

  • CLIMATE
    • The climate shift could put us in a weird position as humans. Because polar ice is already melting causing sea levels to rise. But also, there are believed to be ancient illnesses locked in the ice that predate man. These could be set free triggering a problem bigger than the AIDS epidemic. Also, you’re talking animals that we depend on as a source of food could die off from the unpredictability of the climate or drinking from diseased waters.

  • ASTEROID
    • The last of the disasters could be the big one. The one that we have always been afraid of, and that is the big rock. This would kill everything, not even bacteria could survive. You’re talking the end of Earth as we know it, forever. These are leftovers from the original big bang, including meteorites and comets. And they can vary in size to very tiny to hundreds of miles across.

WHAT DO WEN DO

So what do we do, well, the answer is nothing really. The asteroid is the most helpless event that could happen. If it hits that’s it, we’re done. But the others we have some sort of control over. It is not too late to stop dumping chemicals, keeping the climate in alliance with where it should be, protect ourselves from viruses, and decrease famine. The choice is ours, and with the direction we’re currently going, we are becoming a more conscious human species. Only thing is, will it last.

BROUGHT TO AN END: WILL WE EVENTUALLY DEFEAT THE AIDS VIRUS

“Living with it is better than the past, but ending it would be better.”

WHAT IS IT?

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is what we call a lentivirus that causes and HIV infection, which over time becomes AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). The immune system is viciously attacked, which allows for infections to set in causing cancers and other sicknesses that the immune system generally thwarts off. Now, HIV doesn’t kill you, and neither does AIDS, it’s usually pneumonia or a serious cold flu. AIDS brings your T-Cell count below a certain number then you can get seriously ill. But if you are not able to still follow, look below at the pictorial explanation.

ILLUSTRATION

The video above is how HIV becomes AIDS. ©Created by Mitchell Moffit (twitter @mitchellmoffit) and Gregory Brown (twitter @whalewatchmeplz).

LOOK AT THE NUMBERS

Let’s observe the statistics below to better understand the HIV lentivirus that leads to AIDS.

Ethnicity
  • African Americans are the highest proportion of cases in America compared to other groups. African Americans account for 45% of AIDS in America, though African Americans make up on 12% of the country. → CDC

  • Deaths for African Americans as stated by the CDC account for 53% of all deaths that year. (The closest year of accurate data.)

AGE
  • When observing the age of people, we know that the higher group are those in their mid to late twenties. Information is based most accurate from year 2015. The graph below shows the ages of people at a high risk. CLICK CDC

GENDER
  • Some of the most recent data on women living with HIV/AIDS, that only 19% of the cases that were new were women. (2015) CLICK CDC.

IS THERE A CURE

Right now, there is no cure for the HIV virus leading to AIDS. But in the future hopefully there will be something that can turn around the virus. It’s almost as if the virus is learning it’s surroundings at a higher rate than ourselves as people. As ell as the idea that this virus is actually a virus which has been around for a much longer time than we know. Who knows, we may never cure the disease. But as for now, the majority of cases are contracted through sexual intercourse without protection. So the goal has always been the same for years, make sure you wear protection.

PERSONAL PLANETS: KNOWING HOW OUR BODIES RELATE TO THE WORLD

Image result for human anatomy

“Knowing your body is like knowing the world around you.”

My reason for the above topic comes from the fact that I have been sick for the past couple of weeks. Knowing that I am generally a healthy person, I go what’s wrong. I know there are no chest pains nor do I have any problems with my any other part of my body. But there is one area and that is the area between my Larynx and my Esophagus. Well what could be wrong, especially considering I have medicine. For starters we as people have to think of our bodies as a planet. And whatever goes into this planet is ultimately going to effect the countries/landmass in it or in other words our organs, nerves, and muscle tissue.

Let’s start with our mouths which can be looked at like the Earth’s atmosphere. So much penetrates the Earth’s atmosphere and yet we never think twice about it. The same with our mouths; so much enters voluntary and involuntary that we never think about it. Now let’s be clear, there are other ways for bacteria and viruses to enter our human atmosphere, I’m just using the mouth as an example. But in the case of the mouth, we breathe in and out taking in particles only detected with high powered microscopes. Where do these particles go when they enter. They stick to the walls of our Larynx, Esophagus, or enter the Bronchi into our lungs.

These are very vital areas of our bodies because lungs pump oxygen and making it difficult to breathe effects the whole body (planet). Are there other regions of the planet where bacteria/viruses can strike. Of course, one is the brain, or the central nervous system. You can get a lot of transplants, but not a brain transplant. This is the main hub of the entire body to tell the body what to do. What’s funny, it’s almost like the bacteria/virus knows to head for these central places. Not just the brain, but the heart, lungs, kidneys, stomach, liver, and intestines. These very vital areas for survival are so hard hit.

But I ask what is the virus of Earth? This can be a way to combat the virus of our bodies. When you look at how the Earth is effected in a negative way, we as humans are actually like a virus. Just look at the warming of the planet because of burning fossil fuels, fracking, urbanization, and other major Eco Systematic effects on the planet. But not all bacteria is bad, such as the bacteria in our intestines that actually provide healthy nutrients to our system. Or our eyelashes have bacteria that feed off of small particles that try to enter our eyes on a daily basis.

Now the question is, how do we defeat the bacteria that is bad in our bodies and the viruses as well. Because there is a known fact that we cannot kill a virus. But when we die, the virus dies as well because there is no host. Now back to Earth, if humans impact are like a virus to the Earth, we can be eradicated. The Earth does not need us to continue on, we need it; the host which is Earth for us. Earth is hosting us, and if it dies, we die with it. For example, there is no cure for the HIV/AIDS virus because it needs a live host. When we die it dies as well. But we don’t die because of the virus itself. The virus weakens our immune system by killing white blood cells, which allow other treatable sickness to takeover; like cold flu or pneumonia.

Now look at Earth, if humans are AIDS/HIV that weaken the atmosphere because of our industrial impact, thus making it possible for serious pathogens to enter, then what are white blood cells. To me, natural disasters have been more and more prevalent over the years, meaning out of season. Maybe the Earth knows it’s sick and a natural disaster is a way it fights what’s making it sick. Makes sense because when there is a disaster, our productivity slows and we must start all over again building. Now, sense we are AIDS/HIV adapting to our surroundings, mutating and learning as we go along. So once again, what are white blood cells?

To me a white blood cell is the disasters which kill a lot of us, but not all of us. What is strong enough to rid the Earth of humans? Two things in particular are stronger and that is the sun and an asteroid. The sun gives our planet life, which allow us to have life. But the sun is not enough, we as humans need an asteroid. What is an asteroid that could wipe out humanity? Meaning, humans need an asteroid of the medical field to wipe out AIDS/HIV. Because an asteroid could wipe out everything, even bacteria. Now the immediate downside is, there are certain bacteria we need.

The only being on this planet that has this level of consciousness is humans. The Earth knows it’s sick, but doesn’t realize it’s us. It only knows a natural disaster suppresses the pain. But we know that it is us. AIDS/HIV doesn’t know we know it exist, it exist. But given we have a conscious and the virus doesn’t, use our planet human relationship to beat it. Because viruses and harming bacteria listen to nature, but humans are given the ability to dictate outside of nature meaning to reason. We should figure out the ability of asteroid to kill so we can kill AIDS/HIV. When asteroids kill, it’s a combination of size and energy exerted. In the future, can scientist exert enough energy as well as the right dose of medicine that will kill the virus.

In the end we must be aware of our world to be aware of our bodies. People say there is no money in cures, but if we keep people healthy longer, there is more money in that than the medicine for AIDS/HIV and other sicknesses. People being healthy living longer is more positive economic impact other than the burden of more sick people. The tough part will be creating an asteroid that won’t leave us susceptible to other illnesses. Because remember, when an asteroid hit, it’s not only a threat to us, but the whole planet. We don’t want to kill AIDS/HIV or other viruses and bacteria, but also create something much worse in the process.
