NOT ON YOUR WATCH: SUCCESS DOESN’T COME WHEN YOU’RE READY

Person Writing on White Book

“Put the time in to get there.”

i want it now

For some reason, people think that just because they are ready for an opportunity, that someone should automatically give them one. You have to realize that with opportunities come the preparation. This way if and when you do get your chance you are ready for the task at hand. But most people don’t want to wait their time, they just want to jump right on in and get to working immediately. Yet you are not remotely close to being ready. There is too much you don’t know and you’re thinking about a career like working at a fast food restaurant So go back, put the time and work some more. Understand that opportunity comes with preparation.

social media f***ed the game up

People look on the internet and see someone with a platform and didn’t realize how hard that person was working to get to that point. They just see the numbers and didn’t see the numbers when only a few people cared about the platform. But in this digital game, we don’t realize that the internet is not a real place. and when I say that I mean that it is not a place to believe wholeheartedly in when trying to climb in life. You’re given this perception that is nowhere near the real grind. And once you step into the game, you think you’re not working hard enough or you’re being lazy. The problem is that you can’t look these mediums as this face value entity. Nothing is ever what it seems; trust and believe to build that platform it took time.

patience is a virtue

I heard that good things come to those who wait. And this is true when you putting the daily work into where you want to go. So many people are working hard, but not working smart. And to those that work smart, you have to be patient. Life does not move when you are ready, it happens when it happens. Yet so many will not make it to that point because they are in a rush and rushed work gets overlooked.

GIVING THANKS: WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR

Image result for thanks

“The reasons we keep giving.

Two days ago was the Thanksgiving holiday. So many people have their interpretation for what this holiday means to them. And for me, Thanksgiving was always a holiday that was celebrated with family. But from me to you, I would like to ask of you, “What does Thanksgiving mean to you?” Do you think of Thanksgiving as just a holiday or does it mean something more? Better yet, what in your life do you have to be thankful for; whether past, present, or future? And putting thanks in that context is important because you not have anything in your past you are thankful for, but your present is different. Something might be in your past that presents itself in an unflattering, uncomfortable, or terrified embodiment. So you want it pushed to the back of your mind as much as possible.

Now, as for me, I am thankful that I have the ability to live in a society where I can pursue my career endeavors. So many people never pursued or never realized what they’re good at, so they miss their mark. And missing their mark makes them feel regret, so they aren’t thankful. And that lack of thanks almost makes them resentful toward those who are thankful. You might be happy and in a good place, but coming in contact with these ungrateful people may actually effect your mood. So if you are thankful, try your best to remove yourself from thankless people. Because you never want that rubbing off on you, especially if you’re in a good mental space.

Other reasons we have to be thankful is associated with our health and well-being. We live in a country which has become so health conscious over the recent years due to knowing more about health risk. But with that comes the price of keeping that going. And the cost to keep a healthy lifestyle can be very expensive, especially if the family is poor with children, or even some middle class families. So if you’ve carved out a living for yourself to be able to consistently tend to your health, that is something to be thankful for because a lot of people do not have that luxury.

Because in the end, it’s giving the thanks as to why we wake up in the morning. If you have nothing to be thankful for, then what is your purpose for living. We live in a country where so ma y people get down on themselves because they have so little. So when you do have something to call your own, it’s worth the thanks.

SOCIAL DOGMA: WHY DO WE DO GOOD

Image result for DOGMA

“We are endowed with good; wish I knew how it got there.”

A homeless man asking for spare change, and we give our last to him. A car careens off the side of the road. A mother and child in the car, and someone sacrifice their own lives to save the two.  Natural disasters take place, and neighbors go from house to house to make sure people are alive despite their own homes in ruins. What makes us do it? What makes us put others before ourselves? Is it something that we are born with, or do we learn this trait? Is it of religious sentiment or is there a scientific reason for our goodness? In my attempt to understand, I have come up with a few reasons as to why.

For starters, you have the religious reasons behind why people do good. No matter your religious background, everyone speaks of their good coming from something divine. People are deep in faith say that it must be of some deity force making us what we are. Because if not for him, we would not be as good as we are capable of being. To those of faith, what would man really be like without God. There would not be a care in the world, and those who are less fortunate would have less than they already have now. Is there some truth to this? Look at places like Salvation Army all the up to the Vatican. These organizations have given back so much in the name of God. So there must be some truth to the religious belief. But what about the other side of the what makes man good?

Those of the more scientific beliefs feel like we have this ingrained natural reaction to those in need. And it comes from the feeling of others wanting to help us in our own time of need. But more so it’s the reason man has lasted this long on Earth. Even through the wars and conflict we have still managed to last because of how we protect each other. It’s that natural instinct we have to spring into action when a tragic event is taking place or someone who is without food to eat. We see that it could easily be ourselves and step in to help. Now, another question remains, will we ever figure out why we help others in society?

See, in the end, I think so many people help because it makes them feel good. There is nothing like being in a position to help someone that is less fortunate than yourself. No one can explain why the feeling is there because maybe that is a natural phenomenon itself. But whatever the case may be, that feeling of giving will always make people feel an inner greatness and peace.

MOTIVATIONAL: THE ROAD TO BUILDING MY PODCAST

Image result for MOTIVATION

“The build is tough, yet well worth it.”

In the year 2016, I became I a big fan of the podcast show the Brilliant Idiots. For those of you who don’t know the Brilliant Idiots, it is a podcast show by the Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne tha God and comedian Andrew Schultz. Their podcast consist of topics that have to do with current events in America today. They cover topics ranging from their favorite musicians to the political landscape of our country. From monogamous relationships to how to inspire yourself. Through becoming a fan of this show, I have decided to create my own podcast. So at the end of 2016, I had already started writing down topics I want to cover for my show.

Now, you may ask, what are you possibly going to cover. I thought about covering some of the same topics. But once I soon realized how unhappy I would be trying to shift through all the bad stuff that goes on in our world to talk about. So I decided this year that I am going to make a scripted motivational and inspirational podcast show. I have a lot to write about in regards to how to motivate and inspire. Why, well because as a newly published novelist, blogger, and screenwriter, I am constantly trying to motivate myself more and more. The inspiration comes through me pursuing a goal that most see as just some dream I’m chasing. But I’m not chasing a dream, I’m chasing the pursuit of happiness.

Now, does that mean I am currently unhappy. No, I’m not where I would like to be in my career path, but not unhappy. If it weren’t for me trying to pursue a career as a writer, I probably would be miserable. So creating a free podcast show for people to tune in and hear words of motivation and inspiration not only helps them, but me as well. You see, in America today, we are currently enthralled with the new president Donald Trump. So he’s going to be in the media enough. And me having a topical podcast based around societal issues would mean following along with the traffic behind him. In my opinion, people need some type of motivation, and to feel inspired. So how do you get people to listen?

There are plenty of motivational and inspirational shows and books out there, so how do you get them to listen. You have to provide more than just the normal motivation. Meaning, you say the words to help people feel motivated, but my goal is a scripted motivational show based around writing out words of how to push in life and steps toward your goal. And since I am in lieu of my own goals, I feel that my motivation will inspire others. In the end, people need a reason to keep pushing. It’s hard when employment is so hard to come by. You have bills and families to care for. So, hopefully, I can use what drives me to propel others forward.

2017: WHAT’S TO COME OF THIS NEW YEAR

2017 Calender on the red cubes

“What is your plans for the next 12 months?

We all look forward to the New Year. It gives us chance to reflect on the year. But more so, we make resolutions that we work to keep for the upcoming year. For me, I have quite a few plans for 2017. They include, film, theater, novels, podcast show, and photography. Now, you may think, will I be doing this all at once. The answer is no, of course not. But over the course of the year I am hoping to accomplish a variety of endeavors. My first being finishing my first novel and book of short stories.

I started my novel and short stories books in May of 2015. I am performing some line editing, then I’ll design my book covers for both books. This is a crowd builder, which will aid in my next novel and short story book. Setting a goal for myself to write a novel each year and book of short stories together is going to be tough. But continuously contributing to my blog post keeps me engaged in writing my novel and short stories. Making myself write something, anything is beneficial to my books. Well, what about my other projects I have in the works. Such as my next short film I’m looking to shoot in the spring/summer of 2017.

My first short film was ok, but this one has an ability to be greater. I know more about the process and preparation has already started. The film is a 15 minute short about a public figure and her difficulty with being honest in a world where outright honesty could hurt her career. I wrote this screenplay back in September and I have been preproduction planning since then. Hopefully, this will bring me one step closer to making my first feature film. Which is why I also have taken an interest in photography. Working with stills I feel could improve more of my visuals in regards to film.

A more personal goal is health. Towards the end of the year, winter has brought sicknesses; yep, flu season. My internal resolution is to keep the mind as well as the body healthy. To eating healthy and living healthy. Which brings me to another project, my podcast show. I thought about making the show pertaining to societal issues. But that can be depressing, so I want it to comprise of motivation and inspiration.

In the end, a lot of people make resolutions, but few stick to them. Resolutions are a commitment. And they are commitments at times which requires you to work outside of your normal day job. But it is possible. You are a decision maker in your own future. Make plans and stick to them. Unless an emergency arises, they shall not be broken.
